One would agree that having ideas or mapping out plans for a particular goal is the easiest part of achieving that goal. A lot
of people out there with exquisite ideas let these ideas die even before they are properly developed either because they were discouraged or they think that they can't get through with the plan. Some others are able to get started but eventually give up when they encounter certain hiccups like mistakes, lack of funds, etc. Other reasons could be tight schedules, procrastination and the list goes on and on.
However, the greatest obstacle in accomplishing a task or achieving a goal is** SELF DOUBT-** not believing in one's self or one's ability to do something. Although external factors like other people's disbelief could contribute to this, lack of self confidence make it easier. This is because you can't vehemently convince other people without having faith in yourself. A lot of factors could warrant the feeling of self doubt which includes lack of funds, inferiority complex, etc but being able to overcome this emotional situation, lets you get started.
Another demoralising factor is facing disappointments. People tends to develop cold feet when things don't work as expected mostly because they may have incurred some losses due to such disappointment and that is why every beginner must embrace the fact that there is a high tendency to incur losses and that things may not go as expected. This helps people to move on from their disappointments easily. Hence, instead of giving up, you need to put in more effort in other to progress which brings us to consistency and development.
Consistency and development are pertinent in the growth and prosperity of one's endeavours. Many people are plagued with the habit of becoming reluctant after being able to achieve desired results or making little progress or profit until they are frustrated or in need of more finance. This habit hinders growth and development. However, consistency helps one increase both knowledge and productivity which in turn gives you some sort of exposure in whatever area you major in. Growth is quantitative increase while development is qualitative increase. When you have made quantitative improvement through consistency, you also have to make qualitative improvement through development. Naturally, people would get bored if your works are monopolistic without anything new to look out for, hence the need for development which involves modification of methods, features, concepts and sometimes re-strategizing to achieve better results. From this point on, commitment and patience are required to keep you going. It's certainly not going to be easy as nurturing a business or niche requires a lot patience but you can do it.
I'm going to round by telling you about by experience while starting up my tie-dye business that is still at infancy stage but I do hope to expand soon enough. So, I have a flair for tie-dye work so I decided to commercialize it. I learnt it from High School where we had enough space and all required equipment unlike what was obtainable at home. That was my first challenge, I had to get some materials and improvise some equipment I couldn't afford. I felt discouraged because I didn't think I could get through with it, however, I still took the bold step of getting started though it took me a lot time to make the preparations. Some people who are knowledgeable about tie-dye knows that it's time consuming especially when you are using improvised tools to work.
Making out time was another challenge I faced, trying to double up with my academics wasn't an easy task, so I kept procrastinating because even my weekends were occupied. Luckily, I was able to overcome. Of course, I wouldn't do anything that'd be detrimental to my academics, so I scheduled myself to balance it all up, hence I decided to do as much work as I could on holidays, then make sales and connections while school was in session because that was easier to manage.
Already I'm someone who loves trying out new things but it wasn't easy trying out new techniques because most times the design wouldn't turn out as you expected due a slight mistake and that would require me to either dispose of the work or repeat it to correct the mistake. It was challenging and I incurred some losses but consistency and commitment kept me going and although I haven't gotten to the peak in the business, I have made very notable progress and I hope to expand more.
I hope this write up encourages someone out there struggling to execute whatever task, ideas or plans he/she has been assigned or has taken up. Just know that someone out here is rooting for you.
