Are you giving your best?

Life has its twist and turns and we are all doing our best to survive really, that’s why most of us get out of bed early, studied hard to pass that exam or go through that phase in our life where we fought so hard to achieve a goal.
Why we learned that skill or even start that business.
But now that we are practicing, we might have come to realize it’s perhaps not worth our pay and feel the urge to underdeliver. Play it safe enough to keep the job, or offer a substandard service.
Doing the bare minimum, without realizing that the quality of our service, The efforts we put into our work, are what defines our worth at the long run.

And we shouldn’t let the presumed value of what we’re getting back in return determine that, it should rather be based on the best standard we can give at that point.

It is always advisable to lean towards the path of growth in every given circumstance.

A situation shouldn’t blunt our quality, it should rather sharpen us. That is; we should aim to become better in every situation and how can we achieve that if rather than focusing on doing our best, we are letting the pay reduce the quality of our service?
And now we have a half done job or substandard product with our signature on it lost in the world.

Everyone that comes in contact with it can always trace it back to us and that’s how we lose rep, trust and confidence, in our professional career.

Do not get me wrong, I am not implying that we should let others take advantage of us, give our best in exchange for little. Work hard for underpayment.

No, we should always know our worth and never settle for anything lesser than that.

But if we ever find ourselves in a situation where our output is needed, we must ensure we give our best.

Not only in our professional field, but also in our personal life.
How many times have we held ourselves back from going out of our way for a friend , or offering to help a friend in need because you feel they wouldn’t do the same for us if the roles were reversed?

Not stepping up for a subordinate , knowing the situation could improve if we did something?

Refused to take an initiative that would have contributed to the progress of the collectives, While we hide under the umbrella of ‘it’s none of my business?

Let’s not forget we’re all here to play a role, and how we chose to show up in each situation is what makes up who we are. It’s also the yardstick through which we’re judged.

How we show up in each situation, the efforts we make, how we play our roles and perform our responsibilities, reflects who we are and what our values are.
Not only does it bear our trademark, it’s also the scale for measuring what we get back in return.
If you want the best, you have to give your best and never stop improving the quality of your Best so it’s better than everyone else’s.
