HAPPY NEW YEAR TO MY HIVE PEOPLE!
I really hope you all had an amazing time, either with your friends, your family or on your own. Because you can have a lovely time alone as well!
As you saw I want to talk about my New Year Resolutions. But also, I will talk about what I achieved this year 2022.
Because this year has been tough for me... Since COVID in 2020, I feel like I haven't been able to find my way in these crazy times. I lost my job, I moved countries back to my family. I was living in London and moved back to Spain.
I studied architecture and worked as an architect for most of my adult life... I like architecture but I wasn't enjoying working. But I kept telling myself, next job will be better, next boss will be better, after all your effort you shouldn't quit... And like that you keep going and going. I don't regret having put in all the effort, because life is a constant fight.. I only regret that we as children, young men/women, and human beings, are not taught that it is ok to not be ok and it is fine to realize at any moment in your life you want to change your journey.
I decided to study web development. I focussed on my fitness. I love CrossFit..it gives me life!
THIS YEAR WILL BE ABOUT TO FINISH WHAT I HAVE BEEN PLANNING ON DOING!
What are your new year's resolutions?
GOOGLE says these are the Top 10 Most Common New Year's Resolutions
- Exercise more.
- Lose weight.
- Get organized.
- Learn a new skill or hobby.
- Live life to the fullest.
- Save more money / spend less money.
- Quit smoking.
- Spend more time with family and friends.
I find them very generic... That is a recipe for disaster! Very loose you will probably end up not doing any of them. Do it like this instead:
Generic | Your specific needs |
---|---|
Exercise more | What's your favorite sport? CrossFit? Running? Don't simply join a gym. We all know that doesn't work. Get a personal trainer, join a guided fitness class, run with a group of runners, go on a hike,... |
Lose weight. | Don't focus on the numbers. Focus on having a better-balanced diet. Cut on unhealthy habits. If you focus on that + exercise... the results will come along. |
Get organized | It is true this is important in your life. Not just like that but think about it before doing anything, clean and clear up your space of work, believe me, you don't need much stuff. Write on paper your plans and goals. Long-term, short-term. |
Learn a new skill or hobby | But not just any... what's what makes you excited about doing? Something that makes you forget to look at your phone! |
Live life to the fullest | This doesn't mean being a millionaire and spending your money on expensive cars and going to Ibiza on your boat. THIS means spending time with your loved people, to tell them you love them. To do the stuff you enjoy the most. I know Netflix and the sofa sound tempting, just try spending less time on that and more on going out doing what you love. Go traveling, practise meditation, explore more nature, ... |
Save more money / spend less money | Don't stress! You have been trying to save and it is impossible these days.. This is the world we live in these days. I struggle myself. Instead of getting frustrated and obsessed.. Have a look and try to spot where you are wasting your money at.. Maybe you have Netflix and Disney +, but only watch Netflix.. then cancel Disney. Maybe you bought something that you are not using.. then sell it on Wallapop and don't buy it next time! Try to cook yourself more often instead of getting take away.. little things like that make a difference. |
Quit smoking | I am not a smoker myself, but someone in my family is.. I know it is hard but the benefits of quitting are tremendous when you manage to do it. It won't be easy and you know that. Help yourself to exercise more and more, and have healthier eating habits. That will come along with wanting to be more healthy, and that attitude will help you quit unhealthy stuff like smoking. |
Spend more time with family and friends. | This was said before with live life to the fullest. This doesn't need more explanation. Spend time with the people that make you grow and light! Run away from toxic people, people that shut you down, that make you sad, angry, or inferior. Find healthy friends. |
FOR ME:
These are my 10 New Year's Resolutions:
- Finish my Full Stack Developer Bootcamp and find a job in tech.
- Grow my investment in HIVE (Hashkings, Rising Star, Actifit, HIVE/HIVE POWER/HBD, ...)
- Manage to grow my crypto PORTFOLIO (HIVE, BTC, ETH, ADA, and other altcoins)
- Get better at CrossFit. Get a fitter, stronger and better body!
- Get better at MindFulness. Learn meditation, and do some retreats...
- Get better at eating healthy.
- Join art painting classes finally. I want to learn abstract painting in acrylic. Digital painting. Both mixed. And create my own NFT collection.
- To pay off all my debts...
- Do more hikes...
- Travelling more. Go on more adventures. Decide which mountain I want to climb this year and go for it.
As you can see my goals are more specific. Some are easier than others to complete but you can set a specific plan:
Life is too short to wait to do the stuff that you love. But things won't happen from one day to another. Things take time... Have a plan short-term and long-term... A project can take up to 4 years to make it happen.
What are your New Year's resolutions? Please leave a comment with yours. I would love to read what you will be up to this year.
That's an eventful list of resolutions. Cheers to not zero comments now.
Happy New Year.
Yayyy haha finally! I guess you read my comment on the other post haha.
Yes, it's a lot but hopefully can progress in most of them. Next time I'll post about this book I haven't read yet named: Focus in the one thing. Hahaha
What about you?
Happy New Year to you!
Good idea. Don't read Can't Remember Where I Put It cuz you'll never get to open the thing. Waste of money.
You said traveling. Where you at man, where you want to go? My wife and I just got done. We travelived between October last year and 2016. I might have a few recommendations and a few might wanna reconsider's.
you have been traveling since 2016 to October last year? WOW thats impressive haha.
I have a few places I would like to visit soon but require more money than the one I have haha... like Peru, Japan, Vietnam, ...
Yeah, it was a lot of fun. I dubbed it traveliving. Cuz we weren't just traveling. Each time we got somewhere, we'd stay minimum 30 days but we didn't book the following month until we landed at the current month, does that make sense? Example would be not knowing you're spending December in Rome until you're in Israel in November.
We developed many little tricks that'll force you to engulf yourself in the culture like rent a stay without washer/dryer. Something as simple as that forces you to do laundry at the laundromat. Not many things compare to understanding and appreciating cultures like doing laundry with the locals.
That's so cool. I would love doing that! But did you work remotely at the same time?
Negative. I worked my craft nearly to death between age 19 and 41 and retired the day I got my hours. Now I draw several pensions that afford my wife and I our lives and I still have a couple years to go before I'm 50. Most are either forced or choose to retire well into their 60's. When I first began my career, I intended to retire by age 40. 41.... close enough.
Hey when we're going back and forth like this, don't worry about upvoting my comments. I mean, it's your HP, do what you want with it. But when I'm engaging with someone, I typically upvote the first comment only unless of course something's exchanged I really appreciate.
By voting only that first comment and not the entire conversation, I'm saving my HP to support original content. Does that make sense?
Just a suggestion. You're doing great.

Your post is really very helpful; I agree that when setting goals, you need to be precise and focus on measurable goals.
I always set myself long-term goals that can be divided into medium and short-term goals.
Some of our New Year's things are common, even I have planned to do more hiking and traveling!
Thanks for sharing!
So happy to read that my post was helpful to you!
That is really good practice... You have long-term goals but you see what you can do today to get closer to them.
Where are you planning to go on traveling next?
So I live in Italy and, since my wife can't fly, we thought we'd go around our country a bit by car, there are so many beautiful places to see.
Then, having some beautiful mountains here in Calabria, we thought we'd also do some nice excursions. :-)
What places would you like to visit? Do you have any idea?
That sounds lovely. Italy is beautiful. I should explore more of the South. I have been to the North only.
I have so many places in mind.. Peru, Japan, Vietnam, ... we will see what's next hehe.
I'm yet to mentally pen down my new year resolutions but thanks for sharing yours
Please, share them with us as well!
