No podía empezar sin hablar de la polémica primera temporada. Cuando empecé a ver esta serie, sabía que su primera temporada no era tan buena pero igual la vi para entender mejor. Tal como esperaba, la serie tenía un toque demasiado juvenil, con escenas y música enfocadas a entretener a adolescentes. Sin embargo, la trama, el ambiente, el contexto de ciencia ficción post apocalíptica, en donde un grupo de adolescentes es obligado a sobrevivir en un planeta tierra que se pensaba deshabitado pero que en donde en realidad viven una serie de tribus bien adaptadas, en mi opinión, era suficiente para ver la temporada completa.
La serie fue hecha para adolescentes, a partir de un libro, pero al parecer los productores se dieron cuenta del tremendo potencial que tenía la serie para enfocarse mas en el drama y situaciones más serias. Por ello, la segunda temporada tuvo bastante éxito. Y esto fue a pesar de que los personajes adolescentes aún eran los protagonistas, y se había incrementado el protagonismo de los personajes adultos.
I couldn't start without talking about the controversial first season. When I started watching this series, I knew that its first season was not so good but I still watched it to understand it better. As I expected, the series had a touch too young, with scenes and music focused on entertaining teenagers. However, the plot, the atmosphere, the post-apocalyptic science fiction context, where a group of teenagers are forced to survive on a planet Earth that was thought to be uninhabited but where a series of well-adapted tribes actually live, in my opinion, was enough to see the whole season.
The series was made for teenagers, from a book, but it seems that the producers realized the tremendous potential that the series had to focus more on drama and more serious situations. Therefore, the second season was quite successful. And this was in spite of the fact that the teenage characters were still the main characters, and the adult characters had increased in prominence.

Casi siempre existen conflictos morales y éticos en las decisiones que deben tomar los personajes para poder asegurar su supervivencia y la de los de su comunidad. Esto es algo que obviamente sucedería cuando dos civilizaciones se encuentran y poseen costumbres, creencias y formas de ver el mundo totalmente distintas, y si a esto le sumamos el acceso a tecnologías avanzadas de un futuro apocalíptico (incluyendo armas), esto genera una trama entretenida.
La serie se ambienta en un futuro apocalíptico, en donde hay unos pocos cientos de humanos viviendo en el espacio, que se vieron obligados a salir de la tierra debido a una guerra nuclear que dejó al planeta inhabitable por altos niveles de radiación. Luego de varias décadas, la sobrepoblación en la estación espacial obligó a pensar en soluciones "creativas". Una de ellas fue enviar 100 adolescentes (que habían cometido "crímenes" o roto las reglas de alguna manera) a la tierra en una nave, para comprobar si esta ya era habitable de nuevo. Para sorpresa de todos, la tierra estaba habitada por tribus de personas adaptadas a la radiación que sobrevivió al desastre sucedido, y que además tenían una estructura social encabezada por una comandante.

The series is set in an apocalyptic future, where there are a few hundred humans living in space, who were forced to leave the earth due to a nuclear war that left the planet uninhabitable because of high levels of radiation. After several decades, the overpopulation on the space station forced them to think of "creative" solutions. One of them was to send 100 teenagers (who had committed "crimes" or broken the rules in some way) to earth in a spaceship, to see if it was habitable again. To everyone's surprise, the land was inhabited by tribes of radiation-adapted people who survived the disaster, and who also had a social structure headed by a commander.
El punto fuerte de la serie, como ya dije, es su trama, así como sus ambientes, y personajes que destacan. One criticism of this series is that the young characters (who eventually stop being teenagers) almost always seem to carry more weight than the adult characters. And maybe it's true, but in my opinion this doesn't have much importance. Something I didn't like, is that in the last seasons of the series, something similar to other series like The Walking Dead begins to happen, where almost all the main characters begin to possess a kind of luck that makes them escape unharmed from the most dangerous situations, the series begins to be a little more linear.

If you like Game of Thrones, Vikings, The Walking Dead as well as the futuristic and Sci-Fi environment, this series is perfect for you, as it combines certain aspects of all these. Despite its shortcomings, I thought it was a series worth watching.
