Promise is a western directed and written by Joe Cornet finally coming out this year, Promise is not a very well known movie, I really came across it by chance and having seen it I would like to talk about it. Promise begins with Ransom, a cowboy who lives happily with his wife and stepdaughter, unfortunately one day he has to leave and leave his family and by chance of fate, that same day his wife is murdered leaving only his stepdaughter alive, the murderers were talking of a ¨cash box¨ that is supposed to have a lot of money and that was hidden near the house of the protagonist's family, in fact that is why his wife is murdered.

Time passes and we see that Ransom is already with a new woman, however, the guilt of that day does not let him live in peace and quiet, all this will change when one day he happens to meet his stepdaughter named Promise, they talk a little about the past and Promise asks you to please help her find the cash box, this is how the movie begins and we see how these two risk their lives to find a box that supposedly carries a fortune.

In general terms, the film feels like it was on a very limited budget, there are effects in the film that are noticeable without much effort, also the performance of the characters is somewhat bad if not to say that it is unfortunate, I do not know if they have already I work on other movies but they feel very inexperienced.

One of the biggest problems with this movie is definitely its slowness, the movie lasts two hours and it takes a whole hour to start in a good way and that slowness is there not because it is needed, it could have easily been summarized more unimportant events but the director and writer of the film did not know how to build everything.

The setting of the film is actually good, it is certainly immersive and you feel part of the setting that it tries to convey although sadly this is somewhat deteriorated by the poor quality acting and special effects, but on a general level, I have to admit that the setting it's okay.

Promise addresses issues such as redemption, the past and since it is not the best to remain tied to it and the guilt that eats us every day, you do not have to be too smart to realize this since in the film's own dialogues these Themes come out all the time, I would say that sometimes too much.

In general, Promise seems like a decent movie, almost bad, it entertained me a lot but after the hour passed, the characters are ok and the setting is good but nothing else to highlight, if you like western maybe it will be to your liking.
