Hola queridos amigos de Movies and TvShows, estoy muy feliz de estar una nuevamente con ustedes. Una semana más, una reseña más. Y el día de hoy les quiero compartir mi opinión de Stranger Things, primera y segunda temporada.

Hello dear friends of Movies and TvShows, I'm very happy to be with you again. One more week, one more review. And today I want to share with you my opinion of Stranger Things, first and second season.

PRIMERA TEMPORADA

FIRST SEASON

Debo confesar que durante 2 años aproximadamente intenté ver esta serie, pero simplemente los 3 primeros capítulos no me atraparon. No sé si estaba predispuesta, o si mi paciencia estaba alterada pero el arranque de la serie no me impresionó más allá del ambiente forestal en el que se desenvolvía y los personajes que iban apareciendo.

I must confess that for about 2 years I tried to watch this series, but the first 3 chapters just didn't grab me. I don't know if I was predisposed, or if my patience was altered but the start of the series did not impress me beyond the forest environment in which it unfolded and the characters that were appearing.

Yo soy fan de Winona Ryder, esa mujer me parece preciosa y fue por ella que me motivé a verla. Además de que esta actriz tenía mucho tiempo inactiva, así que me llamó la atención que aceptara el papel en esta serie.

I am a fan of Winona Ryder, I find this woman beautiful and it was because of her that I was motivated to watch it. Besides the fact that this actress had been inactive for a long time, so it caught my attention that she accepted the role in this series.

SINOPSIS:

En el pueblo de Hawkins no todo es como solía ser, una serie de eventos fantásticos y misteriosos comienzan a suceder en este lugar que involucra en primer momento, la desaparición misteriosa de Will Byers, un niño de 12 años. Y simultáneamente aparece la historia de Once, una niña con poderes de telequinesis que escapa de un laboratorio donde hacían experimentos con ella. Aunque parecen dos eventos aislados, pronto nos daremos cuenta de la conexión entre ambos. Y cómo los eventos extraños se vuelven el pan de cada día para Mike Wheeler, Dustin Henderson, Lucas Sinclair, Joyce Byers, Jim Hopper, Nancy Wheeler, Jonathan Byers, Steve Harrington, Bárbara Holland, entre otros lugareños de Hawkins.

In the town of Hawkins not everything is as it used to be, a series of fantastic and mysterious events begin to happen in this place that involves at first, the mysterious disappearance of Will Byers, a 12 year old boy. And simultaneously appears the story of Eleven, a girl with telekinesis powers who escapes from a laboratory where she was being experimented on.

Although they seem like two isolated events, we will soon realize the connection between the two. And how strange events become the bread and butter of Mike Wheeler, Dustin Henderson, Lucas Sinclair, Joyce Byers, Jim Hopper, Nancy Wheeler, Jonathan Byers, Steve Harrington, Barbara Holland, among other Hawkins locals.

Para entender cómo son las relaciones en esta primera temporada, trataré de hacerles un esquema explicativo porque hay grupos, desde niños hasta adultos, algo así:

Lo cierto es que cada grupo cumple su papel de manera casual, cada uno persigue la pista de lo que le sucedió a Will Byers. Por eso quise hacerles este pequeño esquema porque se me hace más fácil explicarles a quienes no la han visto, sé que parece complejo, aunque no lo crean, no lo es. La cuestión es que los chicos y los adultos se hacen uno, siempre al final. Eso es algo que amo de la serie, porque por más compleja que se vea la situación los adultos escuchan a los niños y tratan de entender lo que dicen.

The truth is that each group plays its role in a casual way, each one follows the clue of what happened to Will Byers. That's why I wanted to make this little outline because it makes it easier to explain to those who have not seen it, I know it seems complex, but believe it or not, it is not. The point is that the kids and the adults become one, always at the end. That's something I love about the series, because no matter how complex the situation may seem, the adults listen to the kids and try to understand what they are saying.

En esta primera temporada, uno de los enigmas principales es Once, pues ella es la que nos podrá disipar muchas dudas de lo que le está ocurriendo a Will. Sin embargo, la historia de ella es muy compleja y no se nos deja ver casi nunca sino hasta el final de la temporada, más o menos. Bárbara, además de Will es una de los desaparecidos misteriosos en este pueblo. Su historia impulsa a Nancy a perseguir la pista del caso, es por eso que el grupo de búsqueda aumenta.

In this first season, one of the main enigmas is Eleven, because she is the one who will be able to dispel many doubts about what is happening to Will. However, her story is very complex and we almost never see it until the end of the season, more or less. Barbara, in addition to Will is one of the mysterious missing persons in this town. Her story drives Nancy to pursue the case, which is why the search party grows.

TEORÍAS

THEORIES

La serie está hilada por teorías de ciencia ficción, se habla mucho del “otro lado” que es un mundo espejo del nuestro lleno de tinieblas, horror y muerte, o eso entendí yo. En uno de los episodios se habla de la teoría del acróbata y la pulga esta explicación argumentativa va a ser pilar para que los chicos descubran dónde está su amigo.

The series is spun by science fiction theories, there is a lot of talk about the "other side" which is a mirror world of ours full of darkness, horror and death, or so I understood. In one of the episodes they talk about the theory of the acrobat and the flea, argumentative explanation is going to be a pillar for the kids to discover where their friend is.

Esta serie es de corte ficcional, así que muchos de los hilos narrativos tienen que ver con teorías de física y científica, algo que le agrega mucho valor al metraje. Me parece super precioso que hayan involucrado a niños y son ellos los que nos ayudan a comprender lo que está sucediendo alrededor. Pues, al ser el “grupo de marginados” en su colegio, la ciencia y el amor por el conocimiento los une haciendo de sus investigaciones más que cosas de niños, les da madurez para enfrentar el mundo y sus extrañezas.

This is a fictional series, so many of the narrative threads have to do with physics and scientific theories, something that adds a lot of value to the footage. I find it super precious that they have involved children and they are the ones who help us to understand what is happening around. For, being the "outcast group" in their school, science and the love for knowledge unites them making their investigations more than childish things, it gives them maturity to face the world and its strangeness.

Además de que se toca un tema super importante, que marcó hito en los años 80: el programa MK-Ultra. Una teoría de conspiración que involucra al gobierno americano y ruso, principalmente, con presuntos experimentos mentales, para lograr el “arma humana”. Esta teoría se sigue creyendo al sol de hoy solo que, en los años después de la guerra, ese tipo de experimentos fueron más demandantes. No sabemos si involucraba a niños, pero sospechamos que sí.

It also touches on a super important topic, which was a milestone in the 80's: the MK-Ultra program, a conspiracy theory involving the American and Russian government, mainly with alleged mind experiments, to achieve "a human weapon". This theory is still believed to this day, only that, in the post-war years, such experiments were in demand. We don't know if it involved children, but we suspect it did.

AMBIENTE:

Esta serie está ambientada en los años 80 por lo que muchas de las referencias musicales, de cine, televisión, son de la época. Recuerdo que en mis clases de literatura se habla mucho de este año por el auge de la ciencia ficción, así que tiene sentido que la hayan representado con esta fecha.

El ambiente es un recurso visual muy importante para entender nuestra historia. Confieso que no es fácil de desentrañar, sobre todo cuando aparecen unas criaturas extrañas calificadas como Demogorgon, que por cierto aparece en el juego Calabozos y Dragones que tanto juegan los chicos. El otro lado tiene muy mala pinta, por lo que solo basta ver ese ambiente inhóspito para entender el caos de quienes se quedan atrapados allí.

AMBIENCE:

This series is set in the 80's so many of the musical, movie, TV references are from the era. I remember in my literature classes they talk a lot about this year because of the rise of science fiction, so it makes sense that they represented it with this date. The setting is a very important visual resource for understanding our history. I confess that it is not easy to unravel, especially when some strange creatures appear qualified as Demogorgon, which by the way appears in the Dungeons and Dragons game that the kids play so much. The other side looks very bad, so it is enough to see that inhospitable environment to understand the chaos of those who are trapped there.

SEGUNDA TEMPORADA

Esta segunda temporada debo decir, que hasta el momento es de mis favoritas. Sobretodo porque cada pregunta que me iba dejando un capítulo en el siguiente se respondía. O al menos mis deseos como espectadora se cumplían.
El inicio de la segunda temporada nos lleva al 28 de octubre de 1984, en Pensilvania donde se nos muestra a un grupo de jóvenes a bordo de una camioneta que pareciera que acababan de asaltar. La identidad de estos chicos se nos revelará en el capítulo 7.

SECOND SEASON

This second season, I must say, is one of my favorites so far. Especially because every question that was leaving me a chapter in the next was answered. Or at least my wishes as a viewer were fulfilled.
The beginning of the second season takes us to October 28, 1984, in Pennsylvania where we are shown a group of young men aboard a van that looked like they had just been robbed. The identity of these kids will be revealed in chapter 7.

SYNOPSIS

Luego del fatídico episodio en el laboratorio de Hawkins las cosas parecen haber cambiado. Sin embargo, en Halloween, Will Byers presiente que algo va mal y eso será el detonante de que volvamos a ver de nuevo al grupo unidos. Aunque en esta ocasión aparecen nuevos personajes como: Max Myfield y su hermanastro, Billy Hargrove. Además, aparece Kali, ocho, y su historia nos revelará mucho más de Once, la extraña niña de cabello rapado que apareció en la primera temporada con poderes fantásticos. Will Byers está de nuevo en aprietos y sus amigos emprenden un camino de obstáculos para entender cómo acabar con “el otro lado” y que por fin acabe esa pesadilla.

After the fateful episode in the Hawkins laboratory, things seem to have changed. However, Will Byers senses that something is wrong and that will be the trigger for us to see the group united again. Although this time new characters appear such as Max Myfield and his stepbrother, Billy Hargrove. In addition, Kali, eight, appears and her story will reveal much more about Eleven, the strange girl with shaved hair who appeared in the first season with fantastic powers. Will Byers is once again in trouble and his friends embark on an obstacle course to understand how to put an end to "the other side" and finally end the nightmare.

Una de las razones por las que me gustó la temporada es porque explica qué sucedió con Once luego de su aparición en el laboratorio para ayudar a Will y a sus amigos a acabar con los Demogorgon. Pero más allá de eso, fue su búsqueda personal lo que me conmovió, Once trata de encajar las piezas de su pasado y descubre muchas cosas que desconocía sobre sus padres. Entre el capítulo 6 y 7 se nos comparte la aventura de Once para redescubrir quién es y quién quiere ser.
Además de que su relación con Hopper yo la esperaba desde que vi a este personaje, pues la historia de su hija me hizo tener empatía. Y finalmente en esta segunda temporada ambos coinciden y tienen que aprender juntos a aprender a convivir.

Eleven

One of the reasons I liked the season is because it explains what happened to Eleven after her appearance at the lab to help Will and his friends take down the Demogorgon. But beyond that, it was her personal quest that moved me, Eleven tries to fit the pieces of her past together and discovers many things she didn't know about her parents.
Between chapter 6 and 7 we are shared with Eleven's adventure to rediscover who she is and who she wants to be.

Besides her relationship with Hopper I expected it since I saw this character, because the story of her daughter made me empathize with her. And finally in this second season they both coincide and have to learn together to learn to live together.

Bob Newby

¿Qué puedo decir de este personaje? Fue un personaje nuevo que aparece en la vida de los Byers y que será super importante para lograr la batalla con el Otro Lado. Su historia me impactó, y aun no lo supero, fue muy imprevisto todo. Así que eso me genera mucha más empatía con la serie, realmente supieron manejar las emociones muy bien.

Bob Newby

What can I say about this character? It was a new character that appears in the life of the Byers and that will be super important to achieve the battle with the Other Side. His story shocked me, and I'm still not over it, it was all very impromptu. So that makes me empathize a lot more with the series, they really knew how to handle the emotions very well.

ONCE Y MIKE

El final de temporada dejó la puerta abierta para estos dos personajes que desde que aparecieron juntos se notó la química, demasiado lindo la verdad. Pero no les voy a adelantar nada.

ONCE AND MIKE

The season finale left the door open for these two characters that since they appeared together the chemistry was noticeable, too cute the truth. But I'm not going to give you any spoilers.

CONCLUSIONS

Esta temporada fue más de lo que esperaba, sinceramente me encantó. Me gustó mucho más que la primera que la sentí más lenta y fría, en esta hay mucha más acción y el arco narrativo, para mí estuvo excelente. Una vez más se rompe la distancia entre niños y adultos porque trabajan por la misma causa, ayudar a Will.

This second season was more than I expected, I honestly loved it. I liked it much more than the first one that felt slower and colder, in this one there is much more action and the narrative arc, for me was excellent. Once again the distance between children and adults is broken because they work for the same cause, to help Will.

Por último, quiero resaltar el increíble papel de Joyce Byers, nuevamente su hijo está en aprietos y ella hace tripas su corazón tan solo para ayudarlo, en esta última entrega es muy diferente a la primera, hay una evolución en su personaje. En la primera entrega fue mucho con demasiado, todo lo que hizo, su casa patas para arriba con tal de ayudar a su hijo demuestra su temple como mamá. Es sinceramente uno de los mejores personajes que tiene la serie.

Finally, I want to highlight the incredible role of Joyce Byers, again her son is in trouble and she makes her heart guts just to help him, in this last installment is very different from the first, there is an evolution in her character. In the first installment it was a lot with too much, everything she did, her house upside down in order to help her son shows her mettle as a mom. She is honestly one of the best characters the series has.

DATOS

La serie se estrenó en 2016 y la segunda entrega un año después, 2017. Por eso quise hacer la reseña así, juntas, ya que son las más contemporáneas. Además de que es con esta entrega que termina un poco la infancia de estos chicos. En el 2019 se estrenó la tercera entrega y el 27 de mayo de este año 2022, se estrenará la primera parte de la 4ta temporada, así que evaluaré si después de estos años de inactividad logran cumplir con las expectativas de los fanáticos.
La primera temporada tiene 8 capítulos y la segunda 9, de menos de una hora a excepción del último episodio de la segunda entrega.
Una de las cosas que más resaltan de la serie es la estética ochentera, la música, la referencia a ídolos como Bowie, The Clash…la nostalgia de quienes vivieron esa época encontrarán, quizás, un pañuelo. Mientras que para mí es la exploración, un viaje al pasado muy interesante y nutritivo.
Stranger Things tiene una fila enorme de referencias que si las mencionara, no me alcanzaría el post. Es un guiño al cine y a la televisión americana.

FACTS

The series premiered in 2016 and the second installment a year later, 2017. That's why I wanted to do the review like this, together, since they are the most contemporary. Besides the fact that it is with this installment that ends a little bit the childhood of these guys. In 2019 the third installment was released and on May 27 of this year 2022, the first part of the 4th season will be released, so I will evaluate if after these years of inactivity they manage to meet the expectations of the fans.
The first season has 8 chapters and the second 9, of less than an hour except for the last episode of the second installment.
One of the things that stand out the most about the series is the eighties aesthetics, the music, the reference to idols like Bowie, The Clash...the nostalgia of those who lived that era will find, perhaps, a handkerchief. While for me it is exploration, a journey into the past very interesting and nourishing.
Stranger Things has a huge row of references that if I were to mention them, I would not reach the post. It is a nod to American cinema and television.
