Today, I am going to talk about one of my favourite anime which is Erased. In the anime Satoru is a guy who is blessed with special power to travel back in time. Once he unconsciously discovered his ability and travel back in the time to there where his mother was killed but somehow he found himself back in his young age when he was in the elementary school. It was the time when his childhood friend Kayo got kidnapped I mean he got there before the kidnapping happened. That’s all it’s about how he solves the case and saves his mother in the future.

In my opinion Erased has a brilliant story. Also the role of the murder is very perfect like scary I could feel goosebumps. It has the best plot twists that i have ever seen in any crime related anime. The genre is not romantic but it has the value of friendship, science because the main character can travel through time, also it’s a crime thriller anime and it’s absolutely on top-notch.

I like the fact in the trailer they only talk about the beginning but not about the whole story it does make it look interesting like about the time travel thing they didn’t reveal it and I preferred to watch in English Dub because I always watch while eating so, I can’t catch up with the English Sub. Well, enough of talking let’s move into the story.

In the beginning of the story Satoru is a grown up man he got into a accident and found him self with Katagiri in a hospital bed and she visited him and that’s when Satoru revealed that he has the power to stop an accident before it happens because he has the ability to travel through time. Well, I didn’t expect a beginning like that.

Satoru’s mother was hiding his past from him and she decided to tell the truth but then the killer got to know and she saw the killer and it was the same person who occurred 18years ago and was invoked with Kayo. Then Satoru’s after going home he saw his mother in blood and the neighbour though it was him who had killed and he got blamed which was very horrifying. While he was trying to escape he got the chance to travel the time back in the past.

At first I was very confused how did he control the time like what gave him this power and I still could not figure it out even though the anime ended. I like Satoru how he was not afraid always taking his step even though his physical body was very small which is a body of a child. He somehow knew if he saves Kayo then in the future maybe his mother would be alive.

Kayo’s mother was very violent and aggressive towards her and the class teacher knew about it but didn’t take any steps and Satoru was very furious about it and he complained to his sensei. Kayo had bruises all over her legs. At first Satoru thought it might be Kayo’s mother who was involved in the disappearance of Kayo. Because she used beat her up for every single thing. Which made me feel mad at the mother and adrenaline was rushing very fast through my vein. I was getting angry each time I saw her beating her up and made me feel sad for Kayo. I could feel her pain and fear which depicts the script was perfect. Satoru tried to save Kayo and he did bring his mom at Kayo’s house to warn her mother. But the next day Kayo was dead and I could see Satoru’s disappointment for not being able to find out who had done the murder. But he thought he really did save her and got very much happy about it.

Surprisingly I liked that Satoru has tried his best as he has the brain of the older version of him. I like the character development how he uses theories and applies them to protect Kayo. Again he went to the future and Katagiri was helping a lot then anyone else and she helped him a lot to escape. I was like wow people like these do they really exist in real life.

Satoru’s other class mates also intended to help and save Kayo. I could see how everything was changing around them the environment and feel the strength of unity. They moved Kayo in a vanity van so that others can guard to save but it didn’t work out. I was curious who was the kidnapper and killed Kayo and felt too much into the anime. The more I watch the story got much much deeper and dark.

I also saw the bond of Satoru and Kayo it got much much better day by day. I know that Satoru got close to her to save her but still they did build a pure friendship. Like he was giving his 100% for her, somehow I even thought he might have fallen for her. They were kids I guess it was just the affection of friendship.

In episode 9 Satoru managed to save Kayo in the end and his mother helped him a lot and she moved with her grandmother and mother. I was very happy that finally she got what she deserved no more violence. I thought it was the end but no there was more twists in that.

The killer obviously is a psychopath because why would someone kill a child who has done nothing but only suffered in pain. Like no reason is valid to take someone’s life, maybe he is a serial killer and he is fond of taking life of the children’s. He has no moral or any brain to think about the situation. He actually targeted Kayo because she would be easy to kill and that’s why he was after her. It’s hilarious how a man is desperate to take children’s lives. Also in the future there was a news about kids I think he is involved in that too.

Back in the story suddenly Saturo thought there must be more of his targets because the killer could not get Kayo and there was a class mate Yanagihara she has been staying alone lately and as I have said that killer decides to kill those who are abandoned. I am so shocked that the characters in the story are very mature as kids. As plan Satoru stalked her to Wakaba Gym and she was there safely and out of nowhere Satoru saw his sensei present there. Later on they got into the same car.

The revealing of the killer was someone I could not think of. It was none other than his Sensei who always have acted like a helper. Sensei was very mad at Satoru because he ruined his plans and now he want to take Satoru as his prey. He knew something was off with Satoru that’s why he wanted know more about him, they were in a moving car when all of these happened and Satoru realised that his sensei is the killer but it was too late. He was left in the car which was draining in the water and his sensei aka Yashiro was about to leave but Satoru stunned him by saying that he knew the future of Yashiro’s. Then somehow Satoru got saved but went into the coma for years and years like approximately 15years.

In the end Satoru woke up and many years had passed Kayo came up with a baby in the hospital where he was. Which shows that she was very happy in her life and Satoru was relieved. Satoru could not walk at all because was his weak body. An old man appeared and they talked for a while he looked very nice man to me and he was taking Satoru on the roof. Old man was looking very suspicious to me when they got into the elevator.

Later on it was revealed that it was Yashiro and barely could be recognised. It looked crazy to me how his killer waited 15 years for him to kill him like very much obsessed. Satoru knew the weakness of his killer and tried to take his own life but the killer saved him from falling from the roof. As I have said before that he was a psychopath. So, anything is possible for a person like him. Satoru was very weak physically even though he was in wheel chair but managed to threaten the killer with his life it was something I could not even think of him doing after waking up from coma. I could understand he got strong mentally.

Anyways, Yashiro did plan to push Satoru from the roof which will make people believe that he killed himself but in the end it was revealed that Satoru said Yashiro could not kill him because he needed him in his life because he holds the future and Yashiro was only feeling alive because of Satoru. It must be complicated I don’t know how to explain why he wait for years and years. After that I am glad Yashiro got arrested. Then I saw Katagiri ended up meeting Satoru again and it was totally unexpected. The writer has truly amazed me with his story writing skills. It was a happy ending which made me relieved.

Overall, I would say the storyline was like a real life story which means it’s realistic. I like the fact Satoru took lessons from his mistakes and that’s what I was expecting unlike in other anime the main character stays dumb but here he has developed a lot. This anime has 12 episodes and every each one of them is worth to watch. Also, I liked the music and suspense they have created. The anime also depicts that how our society is spell bounded.
