My review of Euphoria S2

What series are you currently/lately watching? Mine was Euphoria. I watched both Season 1&2. It took 3 years until S2 was released. The first season was in 2019.

The first season was actually good. The music, cinematography, the characters, and the story. In season 1, all the characters get 1 episode about their personal life so then we the audience know all the background story in every character. The story in Season 2 is more complex. Only more focus on some of the characters, such as Rue (main character), betrayal friendship between Maddy, Cassie and Nate (Maddy's ex-boyfriend), and new lovers Lexi and Fezco. It is actually not only about them but those are the top 3 that people have been talking about on the internet.

The Characters

In this season Zendaya (as Rue) was playing the role so amazing. No wonder she got the Emmy Awards last time for this role. The scene when she was getting crazy because her mom threw away all the drugs on the suitcase that Rue actually wanted to sell. Then it continues to the scene where her girlfriend Jules and her junkie buddy Elliot are actually sitting in the living room and hear everything. That was the unforgettable scene on this S2 for me personally. There is nothing that my girl Zendaya can not do.

A betrayal friendship between Maddy and Cassie is the second interesting story in S2. People made their scene out of memes. Cassie is falling for Maddy's ex-boyfriend Nate. This happened at the new year's party. Hurts. Cassie was hiding it from Maddy until Rue saw both Nate and Cassie together. This is not fair for Maddy and this is where all the drama started. I mean I get it they both broke up but still, you shouldn't hide this thing from your bestfriend. They been bestfriends since forever and to fucking your bestfriend's ex and basically stabbing Maddy's back because they she knows that they actually thinking to get back together? Yooo not cool. I mean this is not all Cassie's fault but Nate as well. You curious? Just watch it now on HBO.

The new lovers also are the one of the saddest parts. They just started to get to know eachother but shit happened. Based on their characters, they have 0 things in common. That is what makes it interesting and people actually ship them both, including me. I mean drug dealer and a good student with 0 problems together?

The Story

The story in this S2 is actually so depressing compared to the S1. The detail story is more complex because it gets deeper. The flashback story when Rue's father passed away and how she misses her dad so much, the reason why she started using drugs because of that, maaaan that shit hurts. The emotions she threw at her mom and sister, hits me.

Friendship backstabber story of Maddy and Cassie is also one of the saddest. Cassie just wanted to be loved. She's been through alot of shit. But that moment when she said yes to hookup with her bestfriend's ex is not the answer.

Everyone in this S2 is actually been through alot. I wouldn't compare them all. Everyone hurted. I get mixed emotions while watching this. I mean I know some of the scene are mostly teenager doing drugs, partying, and even sex scenes. But still, the story is amazing and I personally thought it relates because these are not new things and are actually happen in real life.

The cinematography

Well, Imma say that this is the most aesthetic series I've seen lately. The way they take the angle and shit are so aesthetically amazing. They add this type of analog filter shit which makes it more cooler. Some of the story scenes are depressing and it just felt real. Basically all the scenes are aesthetically pleasing. I'm sorry that I keep saying that but I had to.

The outfits and makeup of the girls' characters also makes people (including me) steal the look. It is mostly giving the 2000's vibe which I'm into.

The music

The last part I want to talk about is the music. I somehow know and recognize the songs are from Euphoria if I hear some of the soundtracks. I just can't explain. It is just a vibe. Makes you feel like you're the main character everytime you listen to them. If you watch Euphoria I'm sure you'll get what I'm talking about. Most of the songs are from Labrinth. Euphoria without Labrinth will never be the same. No wonder because Drake is one of the producers.

Overall, this S2 is actually better compared to the S1. I'm not saying the S1 was bad, if it was bad I wouldn't watch the second season. In S2 the story is getting deeper, the characters are more emotional and also the music is all combined is what makes it more pleasing to watch. The cinematography, the music, the acting, a true work of art.

Sort:

I always heard about this serie, and I think it's because I was watching some videos about the makeup that my Instagram now it's full about most of the important moments in this new season.

I still don't wanna enter in this world of the trama, it's just not my type of favorite drama, but lately as I said I've been watching all this clips that make my interest arose.

Fortunately, I found your so good post, love it. The way that you narrated it keep me enganche to the end.

I think that Euphoria have such a good production. The wait for the new seasons looks so long for me, but also I think that is understandable, considering all the amazing work that they do.

And the scene of Zendaya, was so good, that girl deserves another Emmy just for that. By the way, the trama about Cassie and Maddy in this season was so interesting, I was expecting more clips about the final of the season to watch their reactions to the famous stage play. And obviously the confrontation between them, this was being like a bomb at time to blow up.

Good post, love it. Hope to see you again for there!

Hi! Thank you for stopping by.

People behind the production they all did a great job. I've never seen such a series that aesthetically pleasing to watch. Also when you heard some songs from Euphoria, your mind will just like 'ohh this from Euphoria!'.
And I agree with you that Zendaya deserve another Emmy for that scene.
