It's been a while since I last saw a movie and this came highly recommended by a friend. There wasn't a dull moment on this one; intriguing, humorous, well played.

STORYLINE
Dangal which translates to mean "Wrestling Arena" is a Hindi movie based on a true life story. It is about Mahavir Singh Phogat(Aamir Khan) a national level wrestling champion in India who was depressed as he did not win a gold medal for his country. His father forced him to quit and get a well-paying job. At that time, the players never did well an it seemed they had little in terms of support, money or facilities.
Mahavir hoped and wanted his son to win the medal but each time his wife put to birth, it was a girl and his hope dashed. But life has a way of surprising us in ways we least expect or don't you think so?
On a certain day, his daughters Geeta and Babita fought and beat up two boys and in that moment, he saw a breakthrough. He began training his daughters, eliminating whatever stood in the way of their trainings; he cut off their hair, made them wear shorts, changed their diet, subjected them to severe times, he outside himself even.
They soon became a laughing stock in the village but he wasn't deterred. He even made Geeta wrestle boys whom to everyone's surprise, she defeated.
Geeta went along to win at the senior and junior tournaments at the state and national levels and thus proceeded to the National Sports Academy(NSA) to train with other champions under the guide of an expert Coach towards the forthcoming Commonwealth Games.
At the NSA, Geeta lost all the matches at the international level, not only because her coach's training methods were different from those of her father making her subject to pressure but also because she refrained from the teachings given her by her father.
One time when Geeta visited home, she defeated her weary father in a bout after making a mockery of him. Her younger sister Babita demanded that she respect their father and she also went on to win at the national tournament
Geeta made up with her father, was almost made to wrestle in the 51kg category by her coach save for her father who came up with ways to coach for the 55kg category. When she was caught, they were all summoned to a panel who after debating, let her participate in the 55kg category but exempted her father from coming anywhere near the NSA.
That notwithstanding, Mahavir still found a way to coach his girls using the mobile phone and discs as the link between them.
On the day of the games, after heated rounds, Geeta emerged winner of the Commonwealth Games. A very proud time not just for her father but also for India.
MY THOUGHTS AND OPINION.
The best decision I made was watching this movie without first seeing a teaser or reading a review. That way it was easy for me to flow with the scenes and make my predictions.
DANGAL was an interesting watch. The producers did a good job with the scenes, choice of characters, location and action.i was particularly delighted with how well the wrestling arts were carried out; I was both surprised and relieved that no one's neck snapped with the way they raised and threw each other in the ring. So much work had obviously gone into the trainings/rehearsals. Quite a flawless play if you ask me.
CINEMATOGRAPHY & MUSIC
They did a wow job on the visual representation of this film; the burst of colors, perfect shots, great lightening, clear pictures.
To the songs, I quite like that good choices were made. Perfect for each scene. Great commentary at the wrestling matches. Clear drumbeats where necessary.

ACTING
Everyone of them delivered their roles excellently but this review would be incomplete if I do not commend Aamir Khan who ever since his incredible performances in the movies, '3 idiots' and 'Like stars on Earth' I have taken a liken to. He embodies his roles and leaves you with an impression that that's how he is in reality. His passion, body language, carriage, facial expressions are just the way they should be. In this movie, he grew from being a young to an aging man yet he depicted both characters seamlessly.
Geeta and Babita were amazing as well especially with their acts as kids. Although, this was my first time seeing a movie they featured in, but I look forward to them gracing my screen over and again. The producers couldn't have chosen a better cast. Dialogues weren't forced or doing too much. Everything seemed real and actual.
There were no loop in scenes. Details, acting and everything else was good.
FINAL THOUGHT/RATING.
You'll find that this movie was a burst of energy and worth your time. There were also infuses of comedy and emotions here and there. Adults and kids alike can comfortably see this film. So yeah! If you're a fan of sports, wrestling movies or movies based on real life stories, you should check it out. I recommend this to everyone and anyone.
I'll give Dangal a rating of 7/10.

Dangal is actually one of my favorite movies. I really like the storyline. I also appreciate your review of this movie, it's indeed one movie you can watch comfortably with everyone ( the kids inclusive) , there are quite a lot to be learnt from this movie. I think I will give it an 8/10.
