Tenía mucho tiempo que no veía nada de historias deportivas y mucho menos una serie o miniserie que es de la que les vengo a reseñar hoy, y de inicio les digo que solo cuenta con 6 capítulos cada uno de 35 minutos que pienso que no fueron suficientes, porque sinceramente puedo decir que ME ENCANTO y eso que no soy nada deportiva, pero la historia que nos vienen a contar y de la manera que lo hicieron me pareció estupenda y diferente.
I haven't seen anything about sports stories for a long time and much less a series or miniseries, which is the one I'm reviewing today, and first of all I'll tell you that it only has 6 chapters of 35 minutes each, which I don't think were enough, because I can honestly say that I LOVED it and I'm not a sports person at all, but the story that they tell us and the way they did it seemed great and different to me.
Colin en blanco y negro es una miniserie que nos cuenta la experiencia en la etapa escolar del famoso jugador de futbol y mariscal de campo Colin Kaepernick y todo lo que tuvo que sufrir en su adolescencia por ser un chico negro con padres adoptivos blancos, todo esto antes de alcanzar su sueño.

La trama estará centrada en ese dilema que vivió Colin, era un chico bueno en béisbol, básquet y futbol, pero su sueño era ser mariscal de futbol, el problema era que ninguna universidad le hizo propuestas para ficharlo como jugador en futbol, todas las invitaciones eran para una beca deportiva en béisbol, pero no era lo que él quería.
The plot will be centered on the dilemma that Colin lived, he was a good boy in baseball, basketball and soccer, but his dream was to be a soccer quarterback, the problem was that no university made him proposals to sign him as a soccer player, all invitations were for an athletic scholarship in baseball, but it was not what he wanted.
Ustedes saben lo costoso que es una Universidad en EEUU, así que eso era un problema para Colin porque el quería ir a la universidad pero con una beca en futbol, no de béisbol. Además también veremos una serie de flashback muy buenos que nos ayudaran a entender cada punto que Colin nos quiere explicar y además muchos micros de artistas, escritores y deportistas negros famosos que defendían los derechos de los afroamericanos.
You know how expensive college is in the USA, so that was a problem for Colin because he wanted to go to college but on a soccer scholarship, not a baseball scholarship. In addition we will also see a series of very good flashbacks that will help us understand each point that Colin wants to explain to us and also many micros of famous black artists, writers and athletes who defended the rights of African-Americans.
Su director Ava DuVernay nos trae una producción con una increíble narrativa en primera persona por el mismísimo Colin Kaepernick y digo increíble porque tiene un aire de cercanía que te hace sentir parte de su vida con un estilo de collage donde siempre mencionan a varios personajes importantes y resaltantes para él y para el argumento narrativo, vamos a ver la historia como si la estuviéramos presenciando desde su mente o recuerdos y con un lenguaje muy cercano típico de la comunidad negra, con música del genero hip hop y todo lo que se escuchaba para esa época del 2000.
Its director Ava DuVernay brings us a production with an incredible first person narrative by Colin Kaepernick himself and I say incredible because it has an air of closeness that makes you feel part of his life with a collage style where they always mention several important and outstanding characters for him and for the narrative argument, we will see the story as if we were witnessing it from his mind or memories and with a very close language typical of the black community, with music of the hip hop genre and everything that was heard for that time of 2000.
Hay que resaltar que Colin Kaepernick es un hombre afroamericano y famoso jugador de futbol americano que se hizo muy conocido y controversial al arrodillarse en los partidos en el canto del himno nacional como muestra de protesta por los hechos ocurridos con abuso de autoridad con personas de color y fue algo que altero al presidente que estaba en su momento para el 2016 Donald Trump quien pidió que lo despidieran de la NFL por ese acto de revelación y falta de respeto y su historia se basa exactamente en eso que lo convirtió en un activista por los derechos de las personas de color.

The story is starred by a young Jaden Michael who gives life to Colin as a teenager and I can say that he represents him very well, we will see how from the beginning the real Colin tells us what it means for Americans to have people of color in different sports, he portrays it as a kind of buying and selling slaves, as they study their different physical characteristics and their skills and make a spectacular, but painful example with a clear image of black men dressed as slaves and tied with chains.
Desde un inicio te das cuenta que es lo que nos quiere contar su narrador (Colin) y lo que significo para él ser un chico negro tratando de lograr su sueño de ser un jugador profesional de futbol, tantos obstáculos que tuvo que experimentar, tartos despectivos de parte de gente blanca que siempre lo vieron de manera cruel y como si fuera un delincuente cuando apenas era un chico de solo 14 años.
From the beginning you realize what the narrator (Colin) wants to tell us and what it meant for him to be a black boy trying to achieve his dream of being a professional soccer player, so many obstacles he had to experience, derogatory taunts from white people who always saw him in a cruel way and as if he was a delinquent when he was just a boy of 14 years old.
Colin tuvo el privilegio por así decirlo de crecer con padres blancos y aunque suene un poco feo, lo digo así porque en mi opinión personal lo educaron con mucho amor y le brindaron muchas oportunidades que seguramente no hubiera tenido con sus padres biológicos, veremos en la serie como el apoyo de sus padres fue fundamental para que el no se rindiera aunque en muchos momentos le sugirieron escoger el camino fácil, por lo que en los últimos capítulos vamos a ver a un joven Colin deprimido y a punto de perder toda esperanza.
Colin had the privilege, so to speak, of growing up with white parents and although it sounds a little ugly, I say so because in my personal opinion they raised him with love and gave him many opportunities that surely he would not have had with his biological parents, we will see in the series how the support of his parents was essential for him not to give up although in many moments they suggested him to choose the easy path, so in the last chapters we will see a young Colin depressed and on the verge of losing all hope.
Me encanto la forma como plasmo su idea del racismo diario y constante que se vive en los Estados Unidos y como hace él para enfrentarlo a su corta edad, pero sin las herramientas y la sabiduría que no tiene un adolescente de 14 años, muchas veces veremos como se le hace difícil defender sus derechos como persona de raza afroamericana, simplemente porque él todavía no entendía porque siempre lo trataban mal. Y en esa parte si me identifico mucho con él, porque se a lo que se refiere, a esa edad yo tampoco sabia como defender mis derechos y no quedarme simplemente callada, como muchas veces veremos que le sucede a él en la serie.
I loved the way he expressed his idea of the daily and constant racism that is lived in the United States and how he confronts it at his young age, but without the tools and wisdom that a 14 year old teenager does not have, many times we will see how it is difficult for him to defend his rights as an African American person, simply because he still did not understand why he was always treated badly. And in that part if I identify a lot with him, because I know what he means, at that age I did not know how to defend my rights and not just stay quiet, as we will see many times that happens to him in the series.
Colin sabe explicar muy bien y llegar al espectador con muchos ejemplos de lo que significa para los blancos "Jugar el juego correcto o jugar como blancos" es decir, que ellos tienen un prototipo de lo que es ser un hombre negro bueno o aceptable para ellos, hay un ejemplo fenomenal que lo deja muy muy claro y me encanto porque yo soy a veces un poco brutica y esta forma de explicar me hizo entender su punto de vista muy claro, donde se evidencia que aunque un blanco acepte a un negro siempre van a existir esos comentarios educadamente despectivos y racistas pero no ofensivos de manera directa, sino indirecta, prácticamente el ejemplo te lo dibujan en pantalla con lápiz.
Colin knows how to explain very well and reach the viewer with many examples of what it means for whites to "Play the right game or play like whites" that is, that they have a prototype of what it is to be a good or acceptable black man for them, There is a phenomenal example that makes it very clear and I loved it because I am sometimes a little brutish and this way of explaining made me understand his point of view very clearly, where it is evident that even if a white man accepts a black man there will always be those comments politely derogatory and racist but not offensive in a direct way, but indirectly, practically the example is drawn on the screen with a pencil.
Colin actualmente es un activista que lucha por los derechos de las personas afroamericanas, y la verdad ver su historia me hizo sentir mucha pena por él, porque solo me puedo imaginar lo que debió sentir y lo digo así porque yo soy mestiza, tengo una mezcla demasiado grande pero mi tono de piel es morena y lo que me hace pensar que en mi caso yo seria objeto de racismo por alguien a quién no le guste la gente de color y no me hago a la idea lo que significaría tener que lidiar o vivir constantemente con ese problema del racismo que aún hoy en día esta muy presente en la sociedad.
Colin is currently an activist who fights for the rights of African American people, and the truth seeing his story made me feel very sorry for him, because I can only imagine what he must have felt and I say this because I am mixed race, I have too big a mix but my skin tone is brown and what makes me think that in my case I would be subject to racism by someone who does not like people of color and I have no idea what it would mean to have to deal or live constantly with the problem of racism that even today is very present in society.
Es una serie que RECOMIENDO completamente a todo el mundo, tiene sus momentos de humor y saben muy bien transmitir los momentos de tristeza de Colin con un plano oscuro, las actuaciones de parte de todos me parecieron que estuvieron muy bien y el acto final fue muy nostálgico, es la sensación que te da al ver al Colin real viendo a su yo adolescente representando todo lo que quería transmitir.
It is a series that I completely RECOMMEND to everyone, it has its moments of humor and they know very well how to convey Colin's moments of sadness with a dark shot, the performances on everyone's part I thought were very good and the final act was very nostalgic, it is the feeling you get when you see the real Colin seeing his teenage self representing everything he wanted to convey.
Y como opinión personal le doy la razón a Colin, cuando dice que los medios norteamericos nos ha inundado con prototipos de bellezas blancas que no son reales, y que a los pobres negros siempre los pintan en todas las películas como los malos, una cosa que es muy cierto y que hasta los propios coreanos lo afirman así, que debo destacar que aunque me guste mucho la cultura coreana, ellos suelen ser muy racistas con las personas de color y siempre hacen énfasis en mientras la piel sea más blanca más bonita es, pero dicho por los mismos coreanos ellos se imaginan por todas las películas que han visto, que todos los negros son siempre los malos, cuando realmente no podemos generalizar, también hay gente blanca mala y delincuente.

Tenemos tan metido en el subconsciente que la belleza perfecta es una mujer o un hombre blanco, que hasta aquí se puede llegar a vivir eso, y lo digo por una anécdota personal, cuando era muy niña recuerdo haber visto a una pareja de un hombre negro y una catira y mi impresión fue tal que le pregunte a mi mamá que "Porque si ellos eran de diferente color estaban juntos" a lo que mi mamá me dijo "eso es para mejorar la raza" y yo siempre me quede en la mente con esa idea, hasta que un día se me salió de la boca ese comentario delante de una amiga que era negra y bueno ya ni recuerdo lo que me dijo, creo que se sintió ofendida, pero desde entonces no lo he vuelto a decir, porque comprendí el duro significado que tiene y OJO no es que yo sea racista, pero es ese bendito chip que nos han metido desde niños.

Porque créanlo en mi familia materna lo he escuchado mucho, pero el peor descaro es que casi toda mi familia materna es negra o morena y ellos siempre tratan de evitar a la gente negra, de hecho hacen comentarios acerca de primas que se han metido con hombres negros negros y recuerdo que una tía de niña decía que no le gustaban Negros, pero se termino casando con un hombre negro, algo inexplicable. Y lo otro es que mi lado paterno la familia es blanca y la mamá de mi papá ósea mi abuela era racista, y resulto que mi papá se termino casando con mi mamá que es morena oscura, una cosa increíble con lo que quiero decir que aunque aquí en Venezuela que hay una mezcla muy diversa se puede presenciar ese cierto racismo.
