As the series advanced, the story got much more intense and the character development was also done in a very satisfactory manner. Despite the fact the series has 4 seasons, I don't feel it has been overmilked. The complexity of the story as well as the expected complications given the nature of the job of the main characters, allow for the story to produce many entertaining situations without any sort of milking in my opinion.
This fourth season is the last one, and its episodes are released in 2 batches. The one I am reviewing, which is the only one available right now has 7 episodes, and the second batch should also have 7 episodes and should be released in the next few months.
What was the series about?
The story is about the Byrde family which at a first glimpse might appear to be like any other normal American family, but in their case, the parents work as nothing less than money launderers for one of the most dangerous cartels in the world.
At the beginning of the series, they are moving into a small town surrounded by a lot of mountains. The reasoning for this is that it would be easy for them to set up business in a remote place where they can easily launder money.
Their arrival is met with a bit to rejection from some of the problematic local people, but with all the money the Byrdes have at their disposal, they are able to do pretty much whatever they want.
As the series advances, their notoriety will increase, and all sort of complications will begin to appear. They will be forced to deal not only with federal investigators looking into their business, but also with hostility from some local people, because this town has its own criminal groups as well as a powerful family that also produces drugs. There is crime going on all over the place in this seemingly quite small town and the Byrdes are going to get involved in almost everything.
We will see all types of manipulation from a lot of characters, many lies, and every type of conflict you can imagine. There will also be some killings that might take the viewers by surprise.
A medida que avanzaba la serie, la historia se fue haciendo mucho más intensa y el desarrollo de los personajes también se hizo de manera muy satisfactoria. A pesar de que la serie tiene 4 temporadas, no siento que haya sido sobreexplotada. La complejidad de la historia, así como las complicaciones esperadas dada la naturaleza del trabajo de los personajes principales, permiten que la historia produzca muchas situaciones entretenidas sin ningún tipo de sobreexplotación en mi opinión.
Esta cuarta temporada es la última y sus episodios se lanzan en 2 lotes. El que pude ver hace poco, que es el único disponible en este momento, tiene 7 episodios, y el segundo lote también debería tener 7 episodios y debería lanzarse en los próximos meses.
¿De qué trataba la serie?
La historia trata sobre la familia Byrde, que a primera vista podría parecer como cualquier otra familia estadounidense normal, pero en su caso, los padres trabajan nada menos que como lavadores de dinero para uno de los cárteles más peligrosos del mundo.

Main names associated with the series
One of the main directors of the entire series who also participated in the last season is Alik Sakharov. This director specializes in TV shows and has worked in many different productions over the last 15 years. Some examples are the series The Witcher, House of Cards, and GOT.
Andrew Bernstein was also an important director throughout the series and just like Alik, he also works mainly in series such as Foundation, The Outsider, and Fear the Walking Dead.
Bill Dubuque was one of the creators of this show and even though he doesn't have much experience working as a writer, all of his previous jobs have been amazing stories. He previously participated in the films The Accountant, A Definitely Maybe, and The Judge.
Mark Williams is the other creator of the show and he has only participated in 4 productions so far in total as a writer including Ozark. His other 3 writing jobs were in Blacklight, Honest Thief and Copshop.
One of the main characters, Marty Byrde, is played by the popular actor Jason Bateman, Marty is an expert money laundered capable of creating his own software to move the money in such a way tha authorities cannot find proof of any wrongdoing. He isn't only a terrific actor, but he sometimes is also a producer and director. Some productions where we can see him giving great performances as a actor are the series The Outsider, Game Night and Office Christmas Party.
Marty's wife is called Wendy Byrde, played by the actress Laura Linney. She works with her husband and both of them make a great professional team, although their family dynamics are far from being the best. We can also find this actress in other productions such as Tales of the City, Nocturnal Animals and Sully.
Lastly but not least, we have the actress Julia Garner who plays a smart woman from a troubled local family. We can also find this actress in Modern Love, Dirty John and Inventing Anna.

How were the performance from the cast and the scenery?
One of the reasons why this series can easily hook the viewers into its story, is that the casting was perfectly done and the actors and actresses appear to be perfect for their roles.
There are some characters with kind of isolated lives, and they are played perfect by the cast members that were assigned to those roles. The same happens with a crazy character called Darlene, she is the type of creepy and unstable old woman you can expect to find in remote small towns in the middle of nowhere. However, this creepy old woman is also much more than that.
In this season, I did notice a little bit of exaggeration from some of the Mexican characters from the cartel, but all in all, the performances in this series has been great. The cast member than most surprised by was the actress Julia Garner who plays Ruth Langmore. She was completely unknown to me before watching the series, and right now I consider her to be one of the most talented young actresses in the industry.
The settings were amazing although I need to clarify I tend to enjoy stories that take place in small towns. There is something about these settings that I happen to enjoy a lot. I have noticed in various productions this type of setting usually makes stories more enjoyable, even video games like the franchise Life is Strange end up being cozier due to their small town settings.
Ozark isn’t the exception to this, and this setting makes it easier to get familiar with many of the different characters than inhabit this town.
Final thoughts
Ozark is a very enjoyable crime and drama series, with excellent performances from the cast, cozy and convenient settings, and a great writer that is able to keep the viewers on the edge of their seats for 4 seasons straight!
Some of the feats achieved by the 2 main characters might seem like impossible but I guess that top-tier money launderers from real life are able to achieve similar results.
If you are looking for a crime story with a lot of intense moments that require a lot of quick wit from the characters to resolve, I would certainly recommend giving Ozark a well-deserved watch.

Una de las razones por las que esta serie puede enganchar fácilmente a los espectadores en su historia es que el reparto se realizó a la perfección y los actores y actrices parecen perfectos para sus papeles.

El miembro del reparto que más sorprendió fue la actriz Julia Garner, que interpreta a Ruth Langmore. Era completamente desconocida para mí antes de ver la serie, y en este momento la considero una de las actrices jóvenes más talentosas de la industria.
Los escenarios fueron increíbles, aunque necesito aclarar que tiendo a disfrutar las historias que tienen lugar en pueblos pequeños. Hay algo en esta ambientación que disfruto mucho. He notado en varias producciones que este tipo de ambientación suele hacer que las historias sean más amenas, incluso los videojuegos como la franquicia Life is Strange terminan siendo más acogedores debido a su ambientación de pueblo pequeño.
Ozark no es la excepción a esto, y este entorno hace que sea más fácil familiarizarse con muchos de los diferentes personajes que habitan esta ciudad.
Reflexiones finales
Ozark es una serie de crimen y drama muy entretenida, con excelentes actuaciones del elenco, escenarios acogedores y convenientes, y una excelente escritura que puede mantener a los espectadores al borde de su asiento durante 4 temporadas seguidas.
Algunas de las hazañas logradas por los 2 personajes principales pueden parecer imposibles, pero supongo que los lavadores de dinero de primer nivel de la vida real pueden lograr resultados similares.
Si está buscando una historia de crimen con muchos momentos intensos que requieren mucho ingenio rápido de los personajes para resolver, sin duda recomendaría darle a Ozark un merecido vistazo.

I need to start watching this season of Ozark and I'm glad to hear it's still high quality entertainment. The blue tint on the screenshots are insane, I feel like Cameron or Soderbergh got their hands on the film. Thanks for the reminder, so much to watch and so little time.
I think Ozark is the best crime series ever produced by Netflix. It is easily one of the main must-watch the platform has to offer in my opinion.
I think the second part of the grand finale will be out next month. Lots of positive reviews, a series that many recommend.
I hope that's the case, I am really looking forward to watch how this crazy story ends. It is one of the best Netflix productions I have seen.

Garner es excelente en su personaje Ruth, es mi personaje favorito y espero que le den un buen cierre. Espero el estrene de la segunda parte de los episodios para verlos en maratón. La escena inicial de esta primera parte , deja muchas interrogantes, para especular el destino de la familia. Las exageraciones de los personajes del cartel lo vengo notando desde otras temporadas, además de los estereotipos mil veces visto en este tipo de personaje.
Solo deseo un final digno.
Yo también espero un final para el recuerdo, y creo que va a haber una explosión de violencia comom nunca antes vista en la serie. El personaje de Ruth me sorprendió porque no esperaba mucho de ella la primera vez que la ví, pero con el tiempo me fue gustando, aunque en mi caso no es mi preferido.
