Pues te aseguro que esta miniserie llamada Shōgun te va a encantar, porque podemos ver muchas cosas similares como hombres y mujeres ambiciosos, celos, traición y lo que más destaca es la búsqueda absoluta del poder por encima de todo.
Claro que no todo es bueno en esta serie, hay algo que no me gustó para nada, y de eso me gustaría hablar en esta opinión. Así que si te gusta esta increíble miniserie, déjame tu opinión en los comentarios. Antes de empezar hablemos un poco de la trama de esta serie.

Well, I assure you that you will love this miniseries called Shōgun, because we can see many similar things like ambitious men and women, jealousy, betrayal and what stands out the most is the absolute quest for power above all.
Of course not everything is good in this series, there is something that I didn't like at all, and that's what I would like to talk about in this opinion. So if you like this amazing miniseries, leave me your opinion in the comments. Before we start let's talk a little bit about the plot of this series.
En la serie podemos ver la historia de dos hombres sumamente ambiciosos, por un lado el marinero inglés John Blackthorne, un hombre que busca el poder de su país en la zona asiática japonesa, ya que quiere que los ingleses controlen la ruta hacia Japón, para ello logra convencer al capitán del barco donde va para llegar a Japón, pero termina en desastre y apenas llega con vida. Y por otro lado tenemos a Lord Toranaga, un astuto y poderoso daimyo que se encuentra en conflicto con sus peligrosos rivales políticos o señores feudales que constantemente amenazan de diversas formas con arrebatarle su poder; y por último está Mariko, una mujer con habilidades invaluables pero lazos familiares con un pasado muy deshonroso, que debe demostrar su valentía y lealtad en medio de una insaciable lucha por el poder.

In the series we can see the story of two extremely ambitious men, on the one hand the English sailor John Blackthorne, a man who seeks the power of his country in the Japanese Asian area, as he wants the English to control the route to Japan, for that reason manages to convince the captain of the ship where he goes to reach Japan, but ends in disaster and barely arrive alive. And on the other side we have Lord Toranaga, a cunning and powerful daimyo who is in conflict with his dangerous political rivals or feudal lords who constantly threaten in various ways to take away his power; and finally there is Mariko, a woman with invaluable skills but family ties with a very dishonorable past, who must prove her courage and loyalty in the midst of an insatiable struggle for power.
Ahora, lo más importante de esta serie es que te muestra las cosas de una manera muy realista, porque muchas veces la gente piensa que la cultura asiática es sólo K-pop y K-dramas, pero no, hay luchas de poder, traiciones y muchas muertes. Y eso es sorprendente porque te muestra la otra cara de esta cultura. Pero por supuesto, también podemos ver muchas cosas buenas como el honor y la disciplina, que es algo que nunca entenderé del todo de la cultura japonesa, como el Seppuku para mí es algo que nunca entenderé.
Ahora hablemos de la parte mala, y es que es una miniserie que solo dura 10 episodios y en la mejor parte termina y te deja con la duda de que pasará después. Y por si fuera poco, no sabemos si habrá una segunda temporada, aunque lo más probable es que no. Ya que en palabras de los propios creadores:
“No lo sé. Siempre he dicho que queríamos que los espectadores estuvieran en la misma página que los lectores del libro y tengo la esperanza de que ahora que ha terminado la serie lo estén, pues ambas historias concluyen en el mismo punto”
“Pero creo que si pudiéramos encontrar una buena forma de seguir la historia estaríamos abiertos a ello, pero necesitaríamos una buena hoja de ruta y también hay que ver si la gente quiere más”

Now let's talk about the bad part, and that is that it is a miniseries that only lasts 10 episodes and in the best part it ends and leaves you with the doubt of what will happen next. And if that wasn't enough, we don't know if there will be a second season, although the most likely is that it won't be. Since in the words of the creators themselves:
"I don't know. I've always said that we wanted viewers to be on the same page as the readers of the book and I'm hopeful that now that the series has ended they will be, as both stories conclude at the same point.”
“But I think if we could find a good way to continue the story we'd be open to it, but we'd need a good roadmap and we also have to see if people want more.”
Otra cosa que resalta de esta serie es que lo que se muestra se asemeja mucho a la realidad, por ejemplo, Yoshii Toranaga, se inspira en Tokugawa Ieyasu, una figura clave en la batalla de Sekigahara. John Blackthorne, está basado en el Capitán William Adams, un marinero inglés que estableció relaciones comerciales con Japón. Toda Mariko, está inspirada en Hosokawa Gracia, una cristiana japonesa que tuvo un destino intrigante en la historia.
Otros personajes, como Kashigi Yabushige, Kashigi Omi, e Ishido Kazunari, tienen contrapartes históricas que los inspiraron: Honda Masanobu, Honda Masazumi, e Ishida Mitsunari respectivamente.
