I decided to watch this series because I saw that it had something to do with some of the creators of "LOST", so I felt the need to see a plot that could be innovative or revolutionary in these times.
I'm not a big fan of the horror genre because I don't like to have a bad time and most horror plots seem absurd to me and in some occasions give me more laughter than fear.
I wouldn't mean that we shouldn't expect illogical things like ghosts but rather the decisions made by the protagonists who almost always tend to make the worst decisions and act around the absurd.
From's idea
I think the plot, the concepts, the symbolism, the universe and its ideas are very cool in this series.
The story is about a town where people are accidentally arriving without being able to leave, since when they try to leave it becomes a loop.
The town is terrifying because when the sun goes down, monsters with human appearance come out and kill anyone who walks outside their house.
As there is no way to leave the town, people end up adapting to the coexistence until in this first season people arrive with the desire to make sense of the mysteries and looking for ways to return to the real world.
We are talking about that most likely they have reached another dimension and now the mission of each character is to find a way out of there.
The main characters just want to avoid death, until mysterious things begin to happen that disturb and frustrate their minds and lead them to explore paths from which they will want to get out quickly.
In the village there are rules such as taking shelter before nightfall, choosing whether to live in a house or in a commune with many people, the schedule for eating in a restaurant, punishments for violating the rule.
There are also talismans to protect the houses from monsters, objects that one of the main characters found and that we don't know how and why they work.
My favorite characters
Although overall I didn't like the series enough to watch it again, as I think it has a lot of empty dialogues and that makes the characters decide or resolve the story in a very lazy way.
However it has very cool characters like:
Jade
At first she's someone who doesn't understand what's going on and in fact scoffs as if it's all a set up but then she's the one who is interested in making sense of it all.
He also suffers a lot because the character loses his friend and begins to suffer from hallucinations caused by the town itself.
It's hard for him to make friends because he's not interested in anything but getting out of there with the clues he finds.
It's a pleasure to watch because the actor who plays him works very well.
Fatima
Fatima is a character quite contrary to Jade and I liked her a lot because even though she is not interested in getting out of this dimension, she finds a way to be happy with the characters and the things in this place, she also has her heroic moments that some main characters don't get and that makes me love her a lot more.
Besides the fact that he's always in a good vibe and smiling, he tries to spread the idea of fitting in to other people.
Julie, Victor and Donna
All three of these characters I think are great in their own way.
At first I thought Julie was going to be the typical foolish girl who only cries or complains about her family but I felt there were more protagonist characters like her mother who filled that absurd space of foolishness. Julie is someone who follows Fatima's lines without losing her mind and without so many frustrations because she knows the real world is pretty pitiful.
Victor is a mystery in himself because he seems to know everything about the town since he has a long time there, but at the same time he is the one who dares to find answers about all the enigmas they encounter.
Donna I would say is the real sheriff or boss of the town, Boyd is supposed to be the protagonist sheriff but Donna I think is the one who wields the power and achieves calm with her power and insanity.
In conclusion.
I really enjoyed watching From but I felt like I needed to connect more with the story and the characters, I think being the story of a mass conviction that falls on an entire town, everything becomes more depressing and unwilling to achieve moments that I can relate to.
Maybe because of all that I loved more to see the moments of Fatima and Jade, I think they were the ones who were trying to get out of the plot or go beyond all the characters of the town.
However I think the idea and conception of the story is as good as "Lost" because it has height and a good level of originality, only that it abandons many ways to please the viewer's expectation.
I guess the main thing in the horror genre is to scare, generate chaos and misfortune but this series seeks more than that, but does not end up finding true resolution.
The series tries to go beyond terror and I say this because at some point the monsters are unimportant, but at the same time it feels limited by not being able to get out of terror completely. Still things happen that take more prominence such as frustration about their past life or some other problem that comes back to overwhelm them either concerning loss or abandonment.
I know it has had very good reviews and I also hope to rate the second season since I started watching it recently and soon I will review a little from my innocence and little knowledge about series.

Decidí ver esta serie porque vi que tenía algo que ver con algunos creadores de "LOST", así que sentí la necesidad de ver una trama que podría ser innovadora o revolucionaria en estos tiempos.
No soy muy fan del genero de terror porque no me gusta pasarlo mal y la mayoría de tramas de terror me parecen absurdas y en algunas ocasiones me da mas risa que miedo.
No me referiría a que no debemos esperar cosas ilógicas como fantasmas sino mas bien a las decisiones que toman los protagonistas que casi siempre suelen tomar las peores decisiones y actuar en torno a lo absurdo.
La idea de From
Creo que la trama, los conceptos, el simbolismo, el universo y sus ideas son muy geniales en esta serie.
La historia trata de un pueblo donde van llegando personas accidentalmente sin poder salir, ya que al intentar salir se convierte en un bucle.
El pueblo es terrorífico ya que al ocultarse el sol salen unos monstruos con apariencia humana que asesinan a quien ande fuera de su casa.
Como no hay manera de salir del pueblo, la gente termina adaptándose a la convivencia hasta que en esta primera temporada llegan personas con ganas de encontrar sentido a los misterios y buscando las maneras de volver al mundo real.
Estamos hablando de que lo mas probable es que hayan llegado a otra dimensión y ahora la misión de cada personaje es encontrar la manera de salir de allí.
Los personajes principales solo quieren evitar muertes, hasta que comienzan a suceder cosas misteriosas que inquietan y frustran sus mentes y los llevan a explorar caminos de los cuales al entrar querrán salir rápidamente.
En el pueblo hay reglas como resguardarse antes de la noche, elegir si vivir en una casa o en una comuna con muchas personas, el horario para comer en un restaurante, castigos por violar la regla.
También existen los talismanes para proteger las casas de los monstruos, objetos que encontró uno de los protagonistas y que no sabemos cómo y por qué funcionan.
Mis personajes favoritos
Aunque en líneas generales la serie no me gustó tanto como para verla de nuevo, ya que creo que tiene muchos diálogos vacíos y eso hace que los personajes decidan o resuelvan la historia de manera muy floja.
Sin embargo tiene personajes muy geniales como:
Jade
En principio es alguien que no entiende qué pasa y de hecho se burla como si todo fuera un montaje pero luego es quien se interesa por encontrar el sentido a todo.
También sufre mucho porque el personaje pierde su amigo y comienza a sufrir de alucinaciones que provoca el mismo pueblo.
Le cuesta hacer amigos porque no le interesa nada mas que salir de allí con las pistas que va encontrando.
Da gusto de ver porque además el actor que lo interpreta trabaja muy bien.
Fatima
Fatima es un personaje bastante contrario a Jade y me gustó mucho porque a pesar de que no se interesa por salir de esta dimensión, encuentra la manera de ser feliz con los personajes y las cosas de este lugar, tiene también sus momentos heroicos que algunos personajes principales no consiguen y eso hace que me encante mucho más.
Además de que siempre está con buena vibra y sonriente, trata de contagiar a otras personas la idea de adaptarse.
Julie, Victor y Donna
Estos tres personajes me parece que son geniales a su manera.
En principio creía que Julie iba a ser la típica niña necia que solo llora o se queja de su familia pero sentí que había personajes mas protagónicos como su madre que llenaban ese espacio absurdo de necedad. Julie es alguien que sigue las líneas de Fatima sin perder la cabeza y sin tantas frustraciones porque sabe que el mundo real es bastante lamentable.
Victor es un misterio en si mismo porque parece que sabe todo del pueblo, ya que tiene mucho tiempo allí, pero al mismo tiempo es quien se atreve a encontrar respuesta sobre todos los enigmas que se encuentran.
Donna diría que es la verdadera sheriff o jefa del pueblo, Boyd se supone que es el sheriff protagonista pero Donna creo que es quien ejerce el poder y logra la calma con su poder y su locura.
En conclusión
Me gustó mucho ver From pero sentí que necesitaba conectar mas con la historia y los personajes, creo que al ser la historia de una condena masiva que cae en todo un pueblo, todo se vuelve mas deprimente y sin ganas de lograr momentos con los que pueda sentirme identificado.
Quizás por todo eso me encantó mas ver los momentos de Fatima y Jade, creo que eran quienes intentaban salir de la trama o ir más allá de todos los personajes del pueblo.
Sin embargo pienso que la idea y la concepción de la historia es tan buena como "Lost" ya que tiene altura y un buen nivel de originalidad, solo que abandona muchas formas de complacer la espera del espectador.
Supongo que lo principal en el género del terror es asustar, generar caos y desgracia pero esta serie busca más que eso, pero no termina de encontrar verdadera resolución.
La serie intenta ir más allá del terror y esto lo digo porque en algún momento los monstruos no tienen importancia, pero al mismo tiempo se siente limitada por no poder salir del terror completamente. Aún así pasan cosas que toman mas protagonismo como la frustración sobre su vida pasada o algún que otro problema que los vuelve a agobiar ya sea referente a la pérdida o abandono.
Sé que ha tenido muy buenas críticas y espero también valorar la segunda temporada ya que la empecé a ver hace poco y pronto reseñaré un poco desde mi inocencia y poco conocimiento sobre series.

A mi me encanta From, la verdad es una serie que ofrece algo diferente, aunque no puedo negar que si se asemeja en algunas cosas a Lost, así como ti quiero que se desarrolle más las historias tengo muchas incógnitas y espero que en la próxima temporada sea así. Buena reseña, saludos!

La ví hace algún tiempo y si siento que le faltó algo, me gustó pero no al punto de verla nuevamente. Siento que la decisión de agregar otra temporada es demasiado innecesaria cuando pudieron haber explicado todo en la segunda. Por otro lado, concuerdo con los personajes que mencionaste como favoritos a excepción de Julie que la sentí insoportable jajajaj. Pero bueno, genial tu reseña 😌
