Hawái, Italia y ahora Tailandia, esas han sido las locaciones en donde hemos visto las diversas historias tan particulares de todos los protagonistas que han desfilado por la creación de Mike White. Creo que junto a Severance es probablemente de las mejores cosas que se hayan hecho para la televisión de un tiempo para acá. The White Lotus acaba de finalizar su tercera temporada, una que en lo personal me gustó bastante pero teniendo en cuenta que está ligeramente por debajo de las anteriores y es que a medida que avanzaba la trama puede que se sintiera que estaba un poco estancada en su desarrollo. La magia, el ambiente, el aura de la serie se mantiene pero en esta oportunidad no conecté del todo con ella.
Hawaii, Italy and now Thailand, those have been the locations where we have seen the diverse stories so particular of all the protagonists that have paraded through Mike White's creation. I think that along with Severance it is probably one of the best things that have been made for television in a while. The White Lotus has just finished its third season, one that I personally liked quite a lot but considering that it is slightly below the previous ones and as the plot progressed it may have felt that it was a little stagnant in its development. The magic, the atmosphere, the aura of the series is maintained but this time I did not fully connect with it.

La cosa es que cada grupo de ellos es bien particular y variopinto al punto de que pueden desencadenar las acciones y comportamientos más extraños y típicos de cualquier persona. Y es que si, todas esa gente es el mero reflejo de la sociedad con sus problemas y preocupaciones. Como les dije esta vez estamos en Tailandia en donde veremos a una familia adinerada que no sabe vivir con otra cosa que no sea el lujo; un grupo de amigas que la convivencia las hará sacar las peores opiniones que se tienen entre ellas y una pareja cuyo hombre llega a ese país a resolver asuntos pendientes de su pasado.
For those who have never seen the series, it is about a chain of hotels distributed around the world where tourists arrive to spend their vacations. The thing is that each group of them is very particular and motley to the point that they can trigger the strangest actions and behaviors typical of any person. La premisa de la serie es que todo el mundo tiene demonios internos y el como lidias con ellos es lo que marcará la diferencia. A lo largo de la temporada veremos como el papa de la familia, Timothy, tiene problemas en su trabajo, problemas serios pero que entiende que no puede decírselos a su familia porque esto los derrumbaría, entonces ver esa lucha que tiene él consigo mismo es muy agobiante y ver como busca resolver todo es peor aún. Las tres amigas tienen una amistad muy sólida pero eso no quita que existan opiniones y maneras de pensar con respecto a la vida de cada una de ellas, a veces puede que sea una fallada todo ese cariño. Y finalmente esta pareja en donde él no puede avanzar en la vida hasta que haga un cierre necesario y ella es todo lo que él necesita pero no es capaz de verlo.
The premise of the series is that everyone has inner demons and how you deal with them is what will make the difference. Throughout the season we will see how the father of the family, Timothy, has problems at work, serious problems but he understands that he can not tell his family because this would bring them down, then see the struggle he has with himself is very overwhelming and see how he seeks to solve everything is even worse. La trama es el día a día de cada uno de ellos y de cómo poco a poco se van desarrollando sus historias dentro de aquel hotel. Es una serie acerca de personas y de sus comportamientos. Esto es una comedia negra, una especie de sátira en donde vemos el reflejo de lo que son ciertas personas de la sociedad, personas privilegiadas porque el común denominador acá es que la mayoría son millonarios y todos sabemos la manera en cómo pueden llegar a comportarse. Pero Mike White une muy bien esta comedia con el misterio y es que a medida que ves los episodios sientes que algo está a punto de pasar, algo va a explotar, es una sensación de expectación que es muy común en sus tres temporadas.
The plot is the day to day life of each of them and how little by little their stories develop inside that hotel. It is a series about people and their behavior. This is a black comedy, a kind of satire where we see the reflection of what certain people in society are, privileged people because the common denominator here is that most of them are millionaires and we all know how they can behave. But Mike White joins very well this comedy with mystery and as you watch the episodes you feel that something is about to happen, something is going to explode, it is a sense of expectation that is very common in its three seasons.
Cuando digo que esta temporada es un poco inferior al resto es porque para mi los personajes no fueron tan iconicos, la característica principal es que siempre existan unos cuantos que destaquen sobre el resto pero en Tailandia no vi eso, s todos los noté muy lineales y muy "básicos" dentro de su complejidad. Quizás me quedo con la pareja de Rick (Walton Goggins) y Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) porque el tema existencial en el que los dos estaban metidos era bastante denso y que su final fue bastante poético e irónico. La acción se concentró en la última media hora del capítulo final, fue allí cuando vimos el desenlace de casi todos los personajes. De todas maneras no te aburres al verla, sientes que no avanza pero es muy adictiva de igual forma.
When I say that this season is a little inferior to the rest is because for me the characters were not so iconic, the main feature is that there are always a few that stand out above the rest but in Thailand I did not see that, I noticed them all very linear and very “basic” within its complexity. Maybe I'll stick with the couple of Rick (Walton Goggins) and Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) because the existential theme in which the two were involved was quite dense and their ending was quite poetic and ironic. The action was concentrated in the last half hour of the final chapter, that's when we saw the denouement of almost all the characters. Anyway, you don't get bored watching it, you feel that it doesn't move forward but it's very addictive anyway.
En general es una serie muy bien actuada, grandes actores e interpretaciones, Carrie Coon es de las favoritas. La forma en como fue grabada, los planos, encuadres, la cinematografía es una joya; la banda sonora es muy mítica de la serie, no se como hacen para que cada opening sea increíble. Por algo ya ha ganado un Emmy, The White Lotus es de lo más top que hay. Está en Max y consta de 8 episodios. A la temporada la doy un 7.5/10. Altamente recomendada a todos. El tráiler por acá abajo.
In general it is a very well acted series, great actors and performances, Carrie Coon is one of the favorites. The way it was filmed, the shots, framing, cinematography is a jewel; the soundtrack is very mythical of the series, I don't know how they make each opening to be incredible. It has already won an Emmy for a reason, The White Lotus is one of the best there is. It's in Max and consists of 8 episodes. I give the season a 7.5/10. Highly recommended to everyone. Me sigue gustando mucho The White Lotus. Buena temporada. Sigue la misma estructura y al mismo tiempo tuvo algo algo diferente. He visto que algunos se quejaron del ritmo, pero a mi me encanto. El final, doloroso, me gustaban esos personajes.
La serie es espectacular, es como dices, mantiene la misma forma y trasfondo de que algo está a punto de pasar. Pero siento que este año los personajes no fueron tan trascendentes como en temporadas pasadas. Los únicos para mí, la pareja del final. Pero sin dudas sigue siendo de lo mejor que hay en series en la actualidad.
