En los últimos días he consumido más documentales que cualquier otra cosa, son más rápidos de ver, tienen una historia completa y regularmente tienen una duración aceptable. En esta ocasión, este documental cuenta con una duración de una hora con treinta minutos, hablando no solo sobre un asesino serial en Londres, sino los problemas políticos que habían en ese entonces, la poca aceptación social y el desempleo en grandes cantidades, siendo Londres un lugar peligroso para ir en aquel entonces, aunque suene algo increíble de creer, así fue.
En los documentales es sencillo saber que funciona y que no, mayormente es la historia que relatan la que atrapa porque tanto la música, el vestuario y el trabajo de cámara no son la gran cosa cuando se trata de narrar una historia, es más atrapante los videos originales donde aparece el protagonista o noticias de aquel entonces, aquí no solo tenemos eso, tenemos algunos minutos de las cintas que grabó Nilsen en prisión para contar su historia, desde su punto de vista psicológico y como se percibía a él mismo, algo que no tienen muchos documentales.
El crimen cometido por este asesino serial fue asesinar alrededor de quince a dieciséis hombres, durante cinco años sin que nadie supiera, lo que llamó la atención de muchas personas para comenzar una investigación que no fue muy difícil de seguir ya que Nilsen quería contar como lo hizo. Se cuenta de que estaba muy emocionado por querer contar la historia de como lo hizo, de como quería que todos supieran la verdad en vez de que la prensa comenzara a mentir, él desde un principio confeso todo.
Lo más impactante de toda la historia no era el hecho de que desnudaba a sus cadáveres y tenia relaciones con ellos, siendo un necrófilo en todo su esplendor, sino que normalmente elegía hombres homosexuales como sus victimas, siendo referido a él desde ese momento como el gay asesino serial de Londres, haciendo que muchas familias protegieran a sus hijos de ir a Londres en busca de una mejor vida. Eligiendo a personas homosexuales como victimas; o al menos en su mayoría, hizo que fuera un trabajo más sencillo para este asesino serial, ya que nadie quería admitir que su hijo gay desapareció.
Incluso ya siendo atrapado nadie deseaba ir al jurado a decir lo que había pasado, los sobrevivientes de sus actos no se atrevían a ir porque dejarían constancia de que eran gay, o podían suponerlo que era un caso peor ya que era mentira. Este documental no es solo sobre un asesino de homosexuales en los años 80, es un pequeño recordatorio de lo que sufrieron las personas homosexuales en el pasado, la homofobia en la policía, en la prensa, en las calles, evitaron hacer justicia temprana y dejaron que muriesen quince personas, con algunas personas abusadas por Nilsen.
Los creadores de este documental fueron los mismos de un documental que vi llamado "No te metas con los gatos" fue el primer documental que me vi, ese documental es más largo, tres capítulos de cincuenta minutos cada uno, con mucha información sobre lo sucedido, al saber eso, no dude en verme este documental, porque lo atractivo de ver estos documentales no es solo saber lo que hizo el criminal, es saber que hicieron la policía, personas regulares, pequeños detalles de otras personas, como una mente psicópata es capaz de pensar en su crimen y casi salirse con la suya, por eso, recomiendo este documental.

In documentaries it is easy to know what works and what does not, it is mostly the story they tell that captures because both the music, the costumes and the camera work are not a big thing when it comes to telling a story, it is more compelling the original videos where the protagonist appears or news from that time, here we not only have that, we have a few minutes of the tapes that Nilsen recorded in prison to tell his story, from his psychological point of view and how he perceived himself, something that many documentaries don't have.
The crime committed by this serial killer was to murder around fifteen to sixteen men, during five years without anyone knowing, which attracted the attention of many people to start an investigation that was not very difficult to follow since Nilsen wanted to tell how he did it, he was very excited to want to tell the story of how he did it, of how he wanted everyone to know the truth instead of the press starting to lie, he confessed everything from the beginning.
The most shocking thing in the whole story was not the fact that he undressed their corpses and had relations with them, being a necrophiliac in all his splendor, but that he normally chose homosexual men as his victims, being referred to him from that moment as the gay London serial killer, causing many families to protect their children from going to London in search of a better life. Choosing gay people as victims; Or at least for the most part, it made it a simpler job for this serial killer, since no one wanted to admit that his gay son disappeared.
Even after being caught, no one wanted to go to the jury to say what had happened, the survivors of his acts did not dare to go because they would state that they were gay, or they could assume that it was a worse case since it was a lie. This documentary is not just about a homosexual killer in the 80s, it is a little reminder of what homosexual people suffered in the past, homophobia in the police, in the press, on the streets, they avoided doing early justice and left that fifteen people died, with some people abused by Nilsen.
The creators of this documentary were the same as a documentary that I saw called "Don't f*** with the cats." It was the first documentary that I saw, that documentary is longer, three chapters of fifty minutes each, with a lot of information about what happened. Knowing that, I do not hesitate to see this documentary, because the attractiveness of watching these documentaries is not only knowing what the criminal did, it is knowing what the police did, regular people, small details of other people, like a psychopathic mind is able to think about his crime and almost get away with it, that's why I recommend this documentary.
