Recuerdo que en mis años de estudio de comunicación, quede muy impactado con una asignatura llamada introducción a la imagen, en ella me enseñaron muchas cosas que aplico en el día a día, y en ella también aprendí sobre cine, planos, tomas y color, como más que ver un video los directores se encargan de acompañar con muchos más elementos la historia que están contando en su obra.
I remember that during my years of communication studies, I was very impressed with a class called introduction to the image, in it I learned many things that I apply in the day to day, and in it I also learned about film, shots, footage and color, as more than watching a video, directors are responsible for accompanying with many more elements the story they are telling in their work.
Muchos conocidos me decían que esto era pretencioso, que simplemente disfrutara de la película, pero la verdad es que agradezco el hecho de disfrutar los colores de películas como Kill Bill o Pulp Fiction, puedo valorar más la dificultad de un plano secuencia como en 1917, puedo sentir más la ira de los personajes, entender más el miedo y comprender más el entorno que tiene la historia que nos están contando.
Many people told me that this was pretentious, to just enjoy the film, but the truth is that I appreciate the fact that I enjoy the colors of films like Kill Bill or Pulp Fiction, I can appreciate more the difficulty of a sequence shot as in 1917, I can feel more the anger of the characters, understand more the fear and understand more the environment that has the story we are being told.

Quien a hierro mata, es una película del cine español que tuve la oportunidad de ver esta semana y debo comenzar diciendo que si hoy vengo a recomendarla, es porque hace mucho una película no me generaba tanta ansiedad. El cine Español es algo que consumo un montón al igual que sus series, sobre todo este estilo de suspenso que tienen muy distinto a las típicas películas americanas del asesino que entra a la cabaña del bosque a matar a los niños de la universidad.
Quien a hierro mata, is a Spanish film that I had the opportunity to watch this week and I must begin by saying that if today I am here to recommend it, it is because it has been a long time since a movie generated so much anxiety in me. Spanish cinema is something that I consume a lot as well as their series, especially this style of suspense that they have very different from the typical American films of the murderer who enters the cabin in the woods to kill the children of the university.
Entiendo que no todo mundo consume este cine, y que mucha gente termina decepcionada al no ver una película merecedora de un premio de la academia, sin embargo, como siempre digo no toda película es para levantarse y aplaudir, en este caso no sé si me pararía y aplaudiría, pero me dejo tan tenso y disfrute tanto la película que podría verla nuevamente esta noche sin problema.
Esta es una historia tan mala, tan llena de normalidad, que podría estar sucediendo en cualquier país de Latinoamérica en cualquier momento, sin poderes, sin personas aparentando, con personajes que muestran a personas nobles, malas, atrevidas y que hace muy fácil que puedas entender el papel de cada personaje, y entiendas la actitud que estos adoptan; sin embargo, y a riesgo de Spoiler puede que notes el valor del cobarde y la fragilidad de los más fuertes. Una historia de la que fácilmente puedes sentirte parte.
I understand that not everyone consumes this kind of movies, and that many people end up disappointed when they don't see a movie worthy of an academy award, however, as I always say not every movie is to stand up and applaud, in this case I don't know if I would stand up and applaud, but it left me so tense and I enjoyed the movie so much that I could watch it again tonight without a problem.
This is a story so bad, so full of normality, that could be happening in any country in Latin America at any time, without powers, without people pretending, with characters that show noble, evil, daring people and that makes it very easy for you to understand the role of each character, and understand the attitude they adopt; however, and at the risk of Spoiler you may notice the courage of the coward and the fragility of the strongest. A story that you can easily feel part of.

Tratar temas como el Narcotráfico, estructuras delictivas, la vejez, enfermedades degenerativas, traumas personales y adicciones, en una misma película, se puede hacer y esta película lo demuestra, enseñándonos el poder que puede tener un humano, la confianza y sus riesgos, la importancia de la toma de decisiones y la vulnerabilidad de aquellos que pensamos son intocables, nos muestra una cara oscura de la humanidad, aquello de lo que preferiríamos no hablar.
It is possible to deal with topics such as drug trafficking, criminal structures, old age, degenerative diseases, personal traumas and addictions in the same film, and this film proves it, showing us the power that a human can have, trust and its risks, the importance of decision making and the vulnerability of those we think are untouchable, showing us a dark side of humanity, what we would rather not talk about.
Todo esto acompañado de diálogos intensos que te hacen replantearte la existencia, de actores que realmente muestran sus emociones en cada toma, que pueden hacerte sentir ira, miedo y tristeza, incluso a través de la pantalla percibir el amor de verdad. Si entiendes de Teoría del color podrás notar también la tristeza, la ira, la alegría y el suspenso, con un sonido que en ningún momento te va a sacar de la historia, ya que acompaña tan bien que se vuelve imperceptible el Soundtrack
All this accompanied by intense dialogues that make you rethink your existence, actors that really show their emotions in every shot, that can make you feel anger, fear and sadness, even through the screen perceive real love. If you understand Color Theory you can also notice the sadness, anger, joy and suspense, with a sound that at no time will take you out of the story, as it accompanies so well that the soundtrack becomes indiscernible.

Cada acción tiene una reacción y eso es lo que me quedo de esta película en cuanto a la historia, donde me queda la duda de si hay protagonistas, villanos o héroes, donde realmente si hubiese finalizado con un 'Basado en hechos reales' no me habría sorprendido y con unos personajes tan humanos que me dio miedo pensar que esto puede pasar fácilmente y nada pasaría si realmente ocurre.
Every action has a reaction and that is what I am kept from this movie in terms of the story, where I am left wondering if there are protagonists, villains or heroes, where really if it had ended with a 'Based on true events' I would not have been surprised and with such human characters that I was scared to think that this can easily happen and nothing would happen if it really happens.

Para cerrar decir que la última toma de esta película es la cosa más espectacular, terrible y bien hecha que he visto este año, una escena que me revolvió el estómago a la vez que me hizo gritar del impacto, una escena tan cruda como pocas he visto en el cine tradicional, y es algo que aplaudo en esta película, que tuvo el atrevimiento de mostrar escenas que en otras producciones prefieren omitir por parecer grotescas e innecesarias, en esta película se nota que nadie quería voltear la cara y mirar hacia otro lado.
Y aunque debo admitir que hay unos Flashbacks que a mi parecer son totalmente innecesarios y no aportan real valor a la trama, no por esto deja de ser una película meticulosa y donde se fijaron en todos los detalles para entregar un resultado de alta calidad.
To close, the last shot of this film is the most spectacular, terrible and well done thing I've seen this year, a scene that turned my stomach and made me scream from the impact, a scene as raw as few I've seen in traditional cinema, and it is something I applaud in this film, which had the audacity to show scenes that other productions prefer to omit for seeming grotesque and unnecessary, in this film you can tell that no one wanted to turn their face and look the other way.
And although I must admit that there are some flashbacks that in my opinion are totally unnecessary and do not add real value to the plot, it is still a meticulous film where they paid attention to all the details to deliver a high quality result.

Un inicio intenso y un final duro, ideal para que te tomes el tiempo durante el fin de semana y disfrutar de buen cine, como siempre, todo aquello que recomiendo está abierto al debate, aunque esta vez estoy seguro de que los amantes de las buenas producciones van a disfrutar de esta película, disponible en Netflix o como muchas otras en la bahía de los señores con parche en el ojo.
An intense opening and a tough ending, ideal for you to take your time during the weekend and enjoy good cinema, as always, everything I recommend is open to debate, although this time I am sure that lovers of good productions are going to enjoy this film, available on Netflix or like many others in the bay of the gentlemen with eye patches.
