El argumento está basado en la trilogía de novelas de Liu Cixin (La trilogía de los tres Cuerpos), unos libros que el mismo Barack Obama recomendó y que el autor fue merecedor de importantes premios de ciencia ficción occidentales, cosa que ningún autor chino había logrado.
El argumento va de lo siguiente, nuestro sol tiene un defecto que hará que incremente su tamaño desproporcionalmente hasta cubrir el sistema solar entero. Se sabe que el sol dentro de 4.5 mil millones de años se convertirán en una gigante roja que quemara todo a su paso, empezando obviamente con mercurio y así sucesivamente pero en esta película estos hechos se adelantan sin dar mucha explicación técnica pero sí que hay detalles científicos en cuanto al proyecto Helios.

The overflowing action, the visual effects and the amount of destruction that this film has is incomparable, however we see many nods to other western films such as Armageddon, Interstellar and even 2001: A Space Odyssey, without taking away its own voice from the film.

La acción desbordada, los efectos visuales y la cantidad de destrucción que tiene esta película es incomparable sin embargo vemos muchos guiños hacia otras películas occidentales como Armagedón, Interestelar y hasta 2001: Odisea en el Espacio, sin quitarle su propia voz a la película.

The truth is that the first hour of the film is destruction after destruction, but when the second hour arrives it begins to humanize a bit and we can see some classic emotional scenes that give this production another face. For a moment I came to think that I was watching something similar to 2012, a nonsense movie with a fallacious plot but then this Chinese production shows us many interesting technical details and the struggle that humanity has to save the planet.
De todas las películas de ciencia ficción que he visto últimamente está sin duda se gana todos los premios en efectos visuales, toda la película gira en torno a ello creando una atmosfera de ciencia ficción exquisita pero con una parte argumentativa que no se alcanza a entender del todo quizás por la rapidez con que suceden los eventos o la mala calidad interpretativa que se le dio al libro.
Lo cierto es que la primera hora de película es destrucción tras destrucción pero llegada la segunda hora empieza a humanizarse un poco y podemos ver algunas clásicas escenas emotivas que le dan otra cara a esta producción. Por un momento llegue a pensar que estaba viendo algo similar a 2012, película sin sentido alguno y con un argumento falaz pero luego esta producción china nos muestra muchos detalles técnicos interesantes y la lucha que tiene la humanidad entera para salvar al planeta.

This was a clear nod to 2001: A Space Odyssey, but it also makes us understand that there are things that escape logic, such as hope, even with a 0% chance of success.
Esto último es algo que he pensado demasiadas veces, la única manera de que la humanidad entera se una es que nos veamos afectados globalmente por algo. Pese a ser una película china se observa una pluriculturalidad en el rodaje, el idioma francés, ruso y otros que no alcance a reconocer se ven presentes en esta cinta dándole un plus de credibilidad.
Las potencias espaciales por fin se unen en una lucha por la sobrevivencia pero ya alcanzado el clímax de la película vemos como la tierra está a 7 días de colisionar con Júpiter y muchas acciones dictadas por el corazón y la esperanza es lo que hace que los seres humanos sigan luchando.
Recuerdo observar un momento en donde en una estación espacial la inteligencia artificial toma el control de la estación porque su tripulante había tomado una decisión que conllevaría a la destrucción de la nave y parafraseando a esta inteligencia dice algo como: ¡Nunca entenderé lo ilógico de las decisiones humanas!. Esto fue un claro guiño hacia 2001: Odisea en el Espacio pero que también nos da entender que hay cosas que se escapan a la lógica, como lo son la esperanza aun habiendo 0% de posibilidades de éxito.
This is not the typical dystopian movie, this is a production with a plot that leads to a colossal situation where the entire planet and not just humanity are at risk. Disasters caused by engine system malfunctions cause gruesome catastrophes to occur all over the planet as a group of heroes from around the world fight to try and save our planet with risky ideas that have virtually no chance.
The film is spectacular on a visual level but we can find ourselves a little lost at the plot level because everything happens very quickly and that counting that it is a production of more than two hours. It made me want to read the novels and I think I will soon, they have a very original idea and the truth is that I can't imagine how terrifying it can be to know that your planet is spinning in interstellar space away from the star you always saw by the morning.
This production is highly recommended for lovers of science fiction and also for those who like to see colossal disasters on screen. The graphic quality is impressive, the performances to be honest not so much but this does not make the film lose its shine.
Esta no es la típica película distopica, esto es una producción con un argumento que conlleva a una situación colosal en donde el planeta entero y no solo la humanidad están en riesgo. Los desastres ocasionados por el mal funcionamiento del sistema de motores hacen que catástrofes dantescas ocurran por todo el planeta mientras un grupo de héroes de todo el mundo lucha por intentar salvar a nuestro planeta con ideas arriesgadas que prácticamente no tienen ninguna posibilidad.
La película es espectacular a nivel visual pero podemos encontrarnos un poco perdidos a nivel de trama porque todo pasa de manera muy rápida y eso contando que es una producción de más de dos horas. Me dieron ganas de leer las novelas y creo que pronto lo hare, tienen una idea muy original y la verdad es que no me imagino que tan terrorífico puede ser saber que tu planeta está girando en el espacio interestelar alejado de la estrella que siempre viste por la mañana.
Esta producción es altamente recomendada para los amantes de la ciencia ficción y también de los que les gusta ver desastres colosales en pantalla. La calidad gráfica es impresionante, las actuaciones para ser honesto no tanto pero esto no hace que la película pierda su brillo.

I saw this film when it was released a long time ago and I liked it. It was an acceptable scifi film and the high-budget effects were noticeable. I guess that moving our planet that way is a bit exaggerated but for a scifi story that idea works. I also liked the fact other countries are beginning to create their own super productions, for people who love movies this is great to see :P
I like these kind of stories cuz they are risky, the fact of an entire world moving from its orbit was amazing and also I already knew the author of the book and he's amazing. I think modern sci-fi got used to make stories without any crazy idea just shits are more than probable turning those movies or books in almost a techno-thriller and not sci-fi. Greetings!
