We've all heard about the giant Marvel Studios franchise and their movies that generate billions of dollars from how spectacular they can be, but some of us may be tired of their snarky and predictable superheroe stories and want something more something that will have us chomping at the bit to know the story will end. So today I'm here to tell you about Moon Knight the miniseries everyone should be talking about.
Todos hemos escuchado sobre la franquicia gigante de Marvel Estudios y sus películas que generan miles de millones de dólares de lo espectaculares que pueden llegar a ser, pero algunos de nosotros podemos estar cansados de sus historias de superhéroes sarcásticos y predecibles y queremos algo más, algo que nos haga mordernos las uñas por saber cómo terminará la historia, así que hoy vengo a hablarles de Moon Knight, la miniserie de la que todos deberían estar hablando.
Moon Knight tells the story of Steven Grant an introverted Englishman who finds it very difficult to have "normal dreams" and spend his days trying not to fall asleep at work (something that can happen to any of us when we marathon series until the wee hours of the morning). Everything was just fine until Steven's reality crumbles when he seems himself living the life of someone else: a mercenary named Marc Spector. In addition to discovering his multiple personalities he now finds himself embroiled in a deadly mystery about Egyptian Gods that haunts him everywhere he goes.
Moon Knight nos narra la historia de Steven Grant, un hombre ingles introvertido que encuentra muy difícil tener “sueños normales” y que pasa sus días tratando de no quedarse dormido en el trabajo (cosa que le puede pasar a cualquiera de nosotros cuando hacemos maratones de series hasta la madrugada). Todo iba bien hasta que su realidad se desmorona al verse a sí mismo viviendo la vida de otra persona: un mercenario llamado Marc Spector. Además de descubrir sus múltiples personalidades, ahora se ve envuelto en un misterio mortal sobre Dioses Egipcios que lo persiguen por todas partes.
So our protagonist realizes that se stuffers from dissociative identity disorder (DID) which basically means he has two people living inside his body and well if you've seen Split, you'll realize that's pretty fucked up and that's what brings all these problems to poor Steven with these Egyptian Gods he didn't even know were real.
Así que nuestro protagonista se da cuenta de que padece de trastorno de identidad disociativo (TID) que básicamente quiere decir que tiene a dos personas viviendo dentro de su cuerpo y pues si han visto Fragmentado, se darán cuenta de que eso está muy jodido y que es lo que le trae todos estos problemas al pobre Steven con estos Dioses Egipcios que él ni siquiera sabía que eran reales.
Which brings us to how the portrayed all these gods from Egyptian Mythology, showing us these impressively ancient and powerful deities who impose their own rules on how humans should live, something that can often border on the sadistic because they don't mind killing to satisfy their thirst for justice or vengeance.
Lo que nos lleva a como retrataron a todos estos dioses de la mitología egipcia, nos muestran estas deidades impresionantemente antiguas y poderosas que imponen sus propias reglas sobre cómo deberían vivir los humanos, algo que muchas veces puede rayar en lo sádico porque no les importa matar con tal de satisfacer su sed de justicia o venganza.
From the very first episode we star realizing that this series will be different from any other Marvel series, not only because it doesn't have any reference to their previous protects (since they never named any Avenger or any special events in the MCU movies) but the subject matter can become very dark and gory (but not too much it's still a Disney+ series), the jokes are not inmature and the tension that builds through each episode keeps you captivated until an ending that leaves you begging for more.
Desde el primer capítulo nos vamos dando cuenta de que esta serie será diferente a cualquier otra de Marvel, no solo porque no tiene ninguna referencia a sus proyectos anteriores (ya que nunca nombran a ningún Vengador o algún acontecimiento especial en las películas del UCM), sino que la temática puede llegar a ser muy oscura y sangrienta (pero no demasiado, porque pues sigue siendo Disney+), los chistes no son tan inmaduros y la tensión que va formando a través de cada episodio te mantiene cautivado hasta un final que te deja rogando por más.
Each episode we can see how well written and executed this story is, the characters are realistic and so gripping that you don't want to miss a word of what they are saying. The cast do such a amazing job that it gets to the point where you think: How the hell do they switch from one character/personality to another in the same scene and have it come so naturally? Oscar Isaac does not disappoint, any of his work is worth watching, they are all worthy of academy awards.
En cada episodio nos podemos dar cuenta cuan bien escrita y ejecutada está esta historia, los personajes son realistas y tan atrapantes que no te quieres perder ni una palabra de lo que están diciendo. Los actores hacen un trabajo tan espectacular que llega al punto en que piensas: ¿Cómo diablos haces para cambiar de un personaje a otro en la misma escena y que te salga tan natural? Oscar Isaac no decepciona, vale la pena verse cualquiera de sus trabajos, todos son dignos de premios a la academia.
So if all these reasons are not enough to convince you, then you should see it for yourself and discover this great secret treasure that Marvel Comics has kept for so many years.
