Over the garden wall nos transporta a un bosque lejano, olvidado en el tiempo y el espacio conocido como “lo desconocido” en cuyos alrededores te puedes encontrar con tantas maravillas que te pueden dejar fascinado por sus rarezas y personajes extravagantes que rozan lo absurdo, se nos presenta a Wirt el hermano mayor; responsable y temeroso, el cual se encuentra en una etapa temprana de la adolescencia y que se siente un poco agobiado por la incertidumbre de su gran amor Sara, por su parte Greg despreocupado, optimista y juguetón; el hermano menor cuyo aire inocente y aventurero lo encamina a no pensar mucho en lo que hace, pero termina arrastrando a su hermano en problemas, al inicio de su viaje se dan cuenta de que están perdidos en el bosque sin recuerdo alguno de como llegaron hasta allí, lo cual hace que Wirt entre en pánico al no saber donde están ni como volver a casa.

Durante la travesía de los hermanos se van encontrando con personajes misteriosos que tendrán un peso en la historia, como el leñador con el cual se cruzan y los asusta en medio de la noche, este les advierte que hay una bestia rondando por el bosque y que no es un lugar seguro para niños, dicha bestia tomará gran importancia más adelante en la historia al darse a conocer su misterio. A lo largo de la historia, cada suceso que les sucede a este par de hermanos solo logra mermar las esperanzas del hermano mayor, el cual siente que tiene la responsabilidad y debe encontrar el camino a casa, pero que a lo largo del camino solo logra desmotivarse más y más debido a sus intentos fallidos por sacarlos de situaciones desesperadas, lo cual resulta ser un error, ya que en lo desconocido lo último que debes perder es la esperanza.
From the beginning of the series you are delighted with a small opening which also shows us most of the characters of the series before the events that lead to misfortune happen, a splendid piece of music that perfectly fulfills its task of setting the mood in this unknown world, and of course, a frog playing the piano and singing is who plays it. Its animation surprises you with a vintage style taken from a fairy tale with somber tones, to tell the truth I love the color palette that the series uses in all the episodes, because it gives an appropriate feeling for what it wants to convey, a place where everything is unknown and at the same time known, because it is a reflection of the human heart in certain aspects, the series is full of allegories and bizarre things, even this series has been considered a cult series by its fans which in my opinion is a little accurate, you do not usually see series like this that deal with such delicate issues as in its final, but undoubtedly the best thing is the end which shows you the time in a special way and in turn you realize little by little of every relationship that has the unknown with the real world.

Desde el principio de la serie te deleitan con un pequeño opening el cual también nos muestra a la mayor parte de los personajes de la serie antes de que sucedan los sucesos que los llevan a la desgracia, una espléndida pieza musical que cumple a la perfección su labor de ambientarnos en este mundo desconocido, y claro, una rana tocando el piano y cantando es quien la interpreta. Su animación te sorprende con un estilo vintage sacado de un cuento de hadas con tonos sombríos, a decir verdad me encanta la paleta de colores que utiliza la serie en todos los episodios, pues da una sensación adecuada para lo que se quiere transmitir, un lugar donde todo es desconocido y a la vez conocido, debido a que es un reflejo del corazón humano en ciertos aspectos, la serie está repleta de alegorías y cosas bizarras, incluso se ha considerado esta serie de culto por sus fans lo cual a mi parecer es un poco acertado, no se suelen ver series como esta que traten temas tan delicados como en su final, pero sin duda alguna lo mejor es su final el cual te muestra el tiempo de una forma especial y que a su vez te das cuenta poco a poco de cada relación que tiene lo desconocido con el mundo real.
