Dane and Lucas are two Brothers who, along with their Mother, move house a lot.
They've just moved into a new town and whilst exploring their new house they come across a strange trapdoor in the floor of the basement.
It's hidden under a rug and has six padlocks on it so whoever locked it up, did so for a reason!
Their curiosity takes over and they manage to find the keys and open it.
They stare into the black abyss and wonder how deep it can be. They can't see the bottom so they decide to throw some metal nails and screws into the hole and listen out for them hitting the bottom. However they wait and wait and wait and still they cannot hear them hitting the bottom.
Confused, they close the trapdoor and carry on with unpacking their belongings.
Dane meets the girl next door and is pretty smitten with her straight away. He shows her the hole and she tells them that it may have something to do with the previous owner who she named 'Creepy Carl'.
It's not long before weird stuff starts happening around them.
The hole seems to know what their individual darkest fears are and starts to haunt the three youngsters with them.
Lucas is stalked by a scary puppet that has come alive and Julie, the girl from next door, is haunted by her deceased childhood best friend.
Julie suggests that they may find answers from the previous owner of their house, 'Creepy Carl', who now resides in an old warehouse. But he just adds to the anxiety by telling them that the supernatural force that they have unleashed by opening the trapdoor, will not cease until they are all dead.

They decided that they need to start fighting back if they are to be freed from the forces that are haunting them but Lucas is soon dragged down the trapdoor by Danes deepest fear, their Father.
Dane must go down the hole and rescue his younger Brother. Their Father is an abusive drunk who is imprisoned for his crimes so Dane knows it's not his real Father, but nevertheless he still needs to save his Brother from him.
Will he succeed to save him? Will they manage to close the trapdoor? And will they all survive?
Watch the movie to find out!

This movie had a very good message to it. One that basically says that whatever your fear is, that you can deal with it or let it consume you.
There were some creepy moments but I wouldn't say they were too scary (it's a 12A certificate so nothing hardcore).
But it was a good watch and overall enjoyable to watch. The cast were good at creating the mood and the characters believable. The storyline could have included more than one fear for each person, as generally people do have more than one, but it obviously focused on their main fear.

Movie Monkey Rating: 3/5

I want to see her

I've never seen this movie before but it looks good to me
I like some mystery, although I don't like horror
