La animación es una de mis formas de expresión favoritas, es impresionante poder observar los recursos que es capaz de aportar para que se cuente una historia más allá del género y la demografía que se quiere, es fácil lograr que un proyecto de live-action pase a ser animado, pero es complicado hacer lo opuesto, básicamente la imaginación es el límite (y el dinero, porque ¡vaya, qué cara es su producción! Pero los resultados y el esfuerzo que hay detrás de ella valen la pena sin dudarlo). Por esa razón me hizo muy feliz que mi querida amiga @chocopao me invitara a escribir mi aporte de la iniciativa de @ovazquez0014, por lo que tras una larga consideración, que involucró que repasara las series de mi infancia y las que veo actualmente para finalmente hacer la selección final.

Animation is one of my favorite forms of expression, it's awesome to be able to observe the resources it is able to bring to the table to tell a story beyond the genre and demographic you want, it's easy to get a live-action project to go animated, but it's complicated to do the opposite, basically imagination is the limit (and money, because wow, how expensive is its production! But the results and the effort behind it are worth it without a doubt). For that reason I was very happy that my dear friend @chocopao invited me to write my contribution to @ovazquez0014's initiative, so after a long consideration, which involved me going through the series of my childhood and the ones I currently watch to finally make the final selection.
So, shall we get started?
1. The Looney Tunes Show (2011)
Trama
La serie gira en torno a Bugs Bunny y al Pato Lucas, dos compañeros de piso que viven un vecindario de Los Ángeles compuesto por personajes de lo más variado, como Porky, Silvestre, Piolín, Speedy González, Lola Bunny, el Gallo Claudio y muchos otros más.
Plot
The series revolves around Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, two roommates who live in a Los Angeles neighborhood made up of the most varied characters, such as Porky, Sylvester, Tweety, Speedy Gonzalez, Lola Bunny, Claudio the Rooster and many others.
Ok, mi primera elección podría parecer polémica; sé que en su momento gran parte de los fanáticos de los looney tunes consideraron esta serie una blasfemia en contra de todo lo que representaba la franquicia. Pero seamos honestos, el humor evoluciona en conjunto a la población, lo que era gracioso hace cinco, diez, veinte o treinta años no necesariamente lo será ahora, incluso los clásicos no se salvan de esto y puede que exista un desentendimiento entre las generaciones actuales y los medios de entonces, es curioso como ver que algo que me parece hilarante, mis hermanos pequeños no lo entienden, Spike Brandt y Tony Cervone, los directores de esta versión no eran ignorantes de este fenómeno, tomaron las características principales de sus personajes y la aplicaron a un humor y situaciones modernas, muchos fanáticos dijeron que esta era una versión irrespetuosa de los personajes, pero en mi opinión no es así, Brandt y Cervone mantuvieron la esencia de los personajes y solo reinventaron el ambiente y formato de los que estábamos acostumbrados. Me parece que el formato de sitcom es creativo y permite que los personajes estén en situaciones que quizás no nos hubiéramos imaginado antes, ¿no les parece que ver al Pato Lucas intentar obtener una licencia de cosmetólogo, a Speedy Gonzáles siendo dueño de una pizzería o al gallo Claudio como un empresario multimillonario son en realidad situaciones divertidas?
De igual manera, me gusto la caracterización de Lola Bunny, todos la recordamos en Space Jam como la chica guapa buena en basketball, ¿pero pueden decirme otra característica particular de ella? Yo no puedo, esta serie le da una personalidad un poco más definida que no empalidece con el cast principal, quizás difícil de ver para algunos que les guste el personaje como es presentado en Space Jam, pero son muchas las ocasiones donde es ella la que se roba la pantalla con sus chistes, ¡además que las actuaciones de Kristen Wiig en inglés y Carla Castañeda en español hacen sus escenas un deleite!
Ok, my first choice might seem controversial; I know that at the time most of the looney tunes fans considered this series a blasphemy against everything the franchise stood for. But let's be honest, humor evolves along with the population, what was funny five, ten, twenty or thirty years ago will not necessarily be funny now, even the classics are not saved from this and there may be a misunderstanding between the current generations and the media back then, it's funny how to see that something that I find hilarious, my little brothers do not understand it, Spike Brandt and Tony Cervone, the directors of this version were not ignorant of this phenomenon, they took the main characteristics of their characters and applied it to a modern humor and situations, many fans said that this was a disrespectful version of the characters, but in my opinion it is not so, Brandt and Cervone kept the essence of the characters and only reinvented the environment and format that we were used to. I think the sitcom format is creative and allows the characters to be in situations that we might not have imagined before, don't you think that seeing Daffy Duck trying to get a cosmetologist license, Speedy Gonzales owning a pizzeria or Claudio the rooster as a multimillionaire businessman are actually funny situations?
Likewise, I liked the characterization of Lola Bunny, we all remember her in Space Jam as the pretty girl good at basketball, but can you tell me another particular characteristic of her? I can't, this series gives her a more defined personality that doesn't pale with the main cast, maybe hard to see for some who like the character as presented in Space Jam, but there are many occasions where she steals the screen with her jokes, plus the performances of Kristen Wiig in English and Carla Castañeda in Spanish make her scenes a delight!
Tampoco puedo olvidar los segmentos musicales de la serie, eran espectaculares, recomiendo con todo mi corazón “El hechicero” o cualquiera que cante el Pato Lucas. Cualquiera que esté leyendo este pequeño artículo y no haya visto la serie, denle una oportunidad, es maravillosa, sólo consta de dos temporadas.
I can't forget the musical segments of the series either, they were spectacular, I wholeheartedly recommend "The Sorcerer" or any of the ones sung by Daffy Duck. Anyone who is reading this little article and has not seen the series, give it a chance, it is wonderful, it only consists of two seasons.
2. The amazing world of Gumball (2011)
Trama
La serie gira en torno a la vida de un gato azul llamado Gumball Watterson y sus frecuentes travesuras en la ficticia ciudad estadounidense de Elmore, acompañado por su hermano adoptivo y mejor amigo, Darwin. Gumball and his siblings attend Elmore Junior School, where, throughout the series, they interact with their various classmates, primarily because of Gumball's love interest in Penny. Teacher Simian being their main villain in the school and who wants Gumball and his siblings to be expelled from the school.
A diferencia de la serie anterior, creo que está goza de más atención de tanto el público como la crítica, pero aun así, merece toda la atención que recibe. Creo que sin importar la edad, cualquiera puede disfrutar lo que mira en pantalla, una de las cosas que más valoro de la serie es su diversidad en el aspecto creativo, el diseño de personajes, el estilo de animación y los fondos varían totalmente, existe un esfuerzo gigante en la producción donde incluso cada extra es distintivo. Es un espectáculo visual ver convivir animación tradicional, marionetas, 3D, stop motion e incluso algunas escenas en live action, lo mejor de todo es que a pesar de las diferencias de los estilos todo parece pertenecer a un mismo lugar y convivir maravillosamente.
Además del aspecto artístico de la serie, los guiones no se quedan atrás. Es un retrato de la sociedad moderna y de la infancia, no le teme hacer sátira a cualquier cosa presente en nuestras vidas, desde el internet hasta las elecciones políticas, incluso dedican un episodio a burlarse de los fanfictions y fanarts (ese fue una experiencia de dolor, impresión y vergüenza para mí), así como uno parodiando a un rip off de la serie. Sin duda alguna es divertida, creativa y llena de personajes coloridos, creo que no existe un capítulo que no disfrute y también considero que puede ser disfrutada por personas de todos los gustos.
Unlike the previous series, I think this one enjoys more attention from both the public and critics, but still, it deserves all the attention it gets. I think that regardless of age, anyone can enjoy what they see on screen, one of the things I value most about the series is its diversity in the creative aspect, character design, animation style and backgrounds vary completely, there is a giant effort in the production where even each extra is distinctive. It is a visual spectacle to see traditional animation, puppets, 3D, stop motion and even some scenes in live action, the best of all is that despite the differences in styles everything seems to belong to the same place and coexist beautifully.
In addition to the artistic aspect of the series, the scripts are not far behind. It is a portrait of modern society and childhood, it is not afraid to satirize anything present in our lives, from the internet to political elections, they even dedicate an episode to make fun of fanfictions and fanarts (that one was an experience of pain, shock and embarrassment for me), as well as one parodying a rip off of the series. Without a doubt it is fun, creative and full of colorful characters, I don't think there is an episode I don't enjoy and I also think it can be enjoyed by people of all tastes.
3. Chowder (2007)
Trama
Chowder es un joven aprendiz que solo tiene un gran sueño en la vida: convertirse en un gran chef. Vive en la Ciudad Mazapán junto a su mentor Mung Daal, Trufa y Shnitzel. Es aprendiz de cocina de una empresa de catering y vive aventuras con Gazpacho, el vendedor de fruta y productos en la ciudad Mazapán. The series plot revolves around the titular character Chowder, an aspiring young cook in Chef Mung Daal's catering company. Though he is lighthearted and carefree, Chowder's actions habitually land him in circumstances out of his control, partly due to his hunger and absent-mindedness. His caregivers, Mung and Truffles Daal, as well as Shnitzel, a rock monster who works for Mung, and Kimchi, Chowder's gaseous pet, try to aide Chowder in his ambitions to become a great chef, but they frequently find themselves undermined by the calamitous antics that ensue. Chowder is also undermined by Panini, a girl who has an unrequited love for Chowder, going so far as to say that he is her boyfriend despite the pair not dating.
La última serie de la lista, honestamente la coloqué por sentimentalismo, recuerdo estar en primaria y verla con mi hermana puntualmente. Incluso así, es una serie excelente, con un humor absurdo, al azar e infantil, chowder capturó mi corazón en ese entonces y la sigo recordando con cariño hoy en día. Al igual que el puesto número 2, esta serie gozó de una variedad visual, utilizando en diferentes escenas stop motion, ya sea con figuras de acción o arcilla; así como el uso de segmentos de marionetas (siendo esos mis favoritos). Pero creo que una de las cosas que lo hacía bastante distintivo eran las diferencias de texturas que se podían observar en los personajes, bastante agradables de ver junto a los colores vibrantes que se podían encontrar por doquier en la serie.
Otra característica fantástica era el rompimiento constante de la cuarta pared, la serie se burlaba de la cadena e incluso de los animadores; era algo agradable y gracioso de observar. De igual manera, no puedo evitar amar a Chowder, aun hoy día recuerdo su amor por la comida y su odio profundo hacia las niñas. Creo que es la serie perfecta para huir del estrés, dada a la naturaleza despreocupada de la serie que solo tiene un objetivo, entretener. No esperen tramas complicadas o un desarrollo de personaje profundo, solo desenchufen su cerebro y disfruten a un niño morado con sobrepeso gritar: ¡Helado!

The last series on the list, I honestly put it here out of sentimentality, I remember being in elementary school and watching it with my sister on time. Even so, it is an excellent series, with absurd, random and childish humor, chowder captured my heart back then and I still remember it fondly today. Like post #2, this series enjoyed visual variety, using in different scenes stop motion, either with action figures or clay; as well as the use of puppet segments (those being my favorite). But I think one of the things that made it quite distinctive were the differences in textures that could be seen in the characters, quite nice to see along with the vibrant colors that could be found everywhere in the series.
Another fantastic feature was the constant breaking of the fourth wall, the series poked fun at the network and even the animators; it was a nice and funny thing to watch. Likewise, I can't help but love Chowder, even today I remember his love for food and his deep hatred for girls. I think it's the perfect series to escape from stress, given the carefree nature of the series that has only one goal, to entertain. Don't expect complicated plots or deep character development, just unplug your brain and enjoy an overweight purple kid screaming: Ice Cream!
