It's true, It's control over Derry is total, and it becomes more powerful when it awakens from its slumber and needs to feed; that makes it more than difficult to face, it's a matter of surviving and then fleeing. I think it's a situation where the villain is extremely powerful, offering little hope, and even more so in this series, which recounts moments before what happened in the two films.
