Yeah none of it really screams cyberpunk genre, I have seen this happen more so in regular tv and movies too. It is like sometimes these people don't quite understand the themes behind the genre. Or they do but don't quite care and try to appeal to the masses through other media: music being the easiest.
Oh well, so far the animation is really nice, and it's very refreshing to see. Actually, did you check out the Blade Runner anime? It completely blew my mind the other day when I saw it had been out for like 7 months already. I don't think I have seen anyone anywhere mention it.
