RE: The Remains of the Day (film): Hopkins shines (as he tends to) in this unusual film

My brother in law's grandmother wrote the script for this. She wrote many other scripts for Merchant Ivory Productions and was close friends with the two! She wasn't just a screenwriter, she published a lot of rather well regarded novels based on her experiences living in India as a foreigner.

Wow what a story @namiks ❤️

are you serious? That's frickin amazing bro!

Yeah, she died back in 2013 in New York, I never got to meet her. I remember being a younger teen and going to his parent's house and seeing a random BAFTA on display and thinking that was odd.

And it's also thanks to the brother-in-law that I got the opportunities in the film industry in the UK before running off to other parts of the world. He works on all kinds of stuff at this point, mostly UK productions: Yesterday (feature), Landscapers, something called Breeders with Martin Freeman not too long ago. Haven't seen the two tv shows myself but they're supposedly very good if you're curious about some UK tv to check out.

please do tell me the films and series if you get a chance. I would love to check them out

For films she worked on, I mostly know of A Room with a View, Howards End and The Remains of the Day. There are many others but I think these are the most famous.
