Hello movie lovers. Today I want to talk about a movie that combines science fiction with romance in such an impressive way that is rarely seen in the seventh art. A movie that marked part of my pre-adolescence with a story that is simply perfect. Based on the novel of the same name written by Audrey Niffengger, this film was directed by Robert Schwentke and starred Eric Bana and the beautiful Rachel McAdams. Nowadays very few will remember it, but it is well worth seeing, especially if you are a fan of time travel, romance and drama.

Plot
The film is about a librarian who has developed a "genetic dysfunction" since childhood that allows him to travel through time. However, as much as he can travel to the past or the future, he cannot control when to do it, which causes him problems by disappearing for very long periods of time, which makes him live a timeline that causes many difficulties in his life. He cannot settle down or live peacefully without suddenly traveling to the future or the past without wanting to and not knowing how long he will be lost in time.
Among his many unexpected trips into the past, he meets a girl who, as a child, is amazed by him and knows his "power". She meets him several times in time and from a very young age she was very attracted to the librarian. When she grows up and becomes older, she becomes an artist, meets her "time traveler", they start dating, get married and start living together. However, living with a person who can't control when she is and isn't going to be around is going to be a lot more complicated than it sounds.

And there is a lot to say about this film, apart from the visual effects, which are very practical, as you can tell that the idea is to show us more than something done by computer or CGI.
Already with the plot and the first few minutes that we can see is enough to get completely hooked. Who is not attracted to see a time traveler fall in love? Maybe and only me because, I admit, I'm a bit of a romantic. However, it's not so much the fact of time travel, but the situation we are introduced to at the beginning of his "difficulty" in controlling said time travel and how this affects him in his decisions and daily life. Taking into account the theme of the future and the consequences of the decisions he makes, we can notice many things that make us contradict everything we see from the beginning.

Como fanático tanto de la ciencia ficción, la fantasía y del romance, ver estos tres géneros mezclarse tan bien en esta película es espectacular, eso sin contar el drama que nos transmite la misma historia, la cual me conmovió como ninguna otra obra actual del mismo género. Y es que es mucho lo que se puede decir de esta cinta, fuera de los efectos visuales, los cuales son muy prácticos, ya que se nota que la idea es mostrarnos más que algo hecho a computadora o con CGI.
Ya con la trama y los primeros minutos que podemos ver basta para engancharse por completo. ¿A quién no le llama la atención ver a un viajero del tiempo enamorarse? Tal vez y solo a mí porque, admito, soy un poco romántico. Sin embargo, no es tanto el hecho de viajar en el tiempo, sino la situación que nos presentan al principio de su “dificultad” por controlar dichos viajes en el tiempo y cómo esto le afecta en sus decisiones y su vida diaria. Teniendo en cuenta el tema del futuro y las consecuencias de las decisiones que este toma, se puede notar muchas cosas que nos hacen contradecir todo lo que vemos desde el principio.

To explain this well, this film shows us a couple who have known each other for a long time, the protagonist, now an old man, meets the woman who will be his wife in the future, when she is just a little girl. She falls in love with him and since then they see each other from time to time. It can be said that her "destiny" was traced by him from the name in which they met. What would have happened if this were not so? It's one of those questions I've been asking myself ever since. But, out of this, I love the whole visual section, the soundtrack, the cameras and the way they tell us the story in a non-linear way, which gives it that special touch, is what I like the most about this movie.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that the chemistry that Eric and Rachel have during this movie is spectacular. What I really like about their characters is that they took great care to give them a very good development, taking into account that we are talking about a story that does not have a fixed timeline, which gives them the possibility to show us an interesting variety of different versions of the same characters, either from the future or the past. And, of course, the ending, such an ending that broke my heart and moved me completely, simply fantastic, which makes it one of my favorite movies of this genre.
Personally, I give it a 9/10 rating as far as the romance, drama and sci-fi genre is concerned.

Para explicar bien esto, en esta película nos muestra a una pareja que ya se conocen desde hace mucho, el protagonista, ya mayor, conoce a quien será su esposa en el futuro, siendo apenas una niña. Ella se enamora de él y desde entonces se ven de vez en cuando. Se puede decir que el “destino” de ella lo trazó él desde el nombre en el que se encontraron. ¿Qué hubiera pasado si esto no fuera así? Es una de esas preguntas que me he hecho desde entonces. Pero, fuera de esto, me encanta todo el apartado visual, la banda sonora, las cámaras y la forma en la que nos cuentan la historia de una forma no lineal, lo cual le da ese toque especial, es lo que más me gusta de esta película.
Para finalizar, cabe mencionar que la química que tienen Eric y Rachel durante esta película es espectacular. Lo que me gusta mucho de sus personajes es que se esmeraron en darles un muy buen desarrollo, tomando en cuenta que estamos hablando de una historia que no cuenta con una línea del tiempo fija, lo cual les da la posibilidad de mostrarnos una variedad interesante de versiones distintas de los mismos personajes, ya sea del futuro como del pasado. Y, por supuesto, el final, dicho final que me destrozó el corazón y me conmovió por completo, simplemente fantástico, lo cual la hace una de mis películas favoritas de este género.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 9/10 en lo que respecta al género del romance, el drama y la ciencia ficción.
