I remember a time when we looked at Jack Nicholson's performance as Joker and thought that there is no way that anyone would be able to improve upon that. I also remember when it was announced that Heath Ledger was going to play Joker in this one the entire comic-nerd community simultaneously groaned because at the point Ledger was a romantic-comedy type of actor.
Wow did he ever prove all of us naysayers wrong. What a pity that it would be one of his final performances.
