Good morning Hivers, last night I finished this science fiction TV series that I really liked, this Korean drama draws inspiration from the Kiseiju manga, despite having a very different plot from the comic. The series is currently broadcast on Netflix and in my opinion it is truly among the most compelling of the moment. I'll tell you the plot in brief and then my opinion. The story opens on an evening at a disco where a larva infiltrates the head of a boy who transforms into a sort of monster with an almost carnivorous plant appearance and a crazy desire to kill, it continues with a young supermarket cashier Su In che she is treated badly and then attacked by a customer, left dying another larva slips inside her but Su In does not become a monster. The police begin to follow his case, because his client was witnessed during the attack and his death is suspicious, so they begin to investigate this strange death, especially an inspector who has known Su In for years, Cheol min. In another house, a half-delinquent boy realizes that his older sister has changed and that she no longer looks like her, he is Kang woo, he follows his sister who has started attending a strange church and discovers a den of these new monsters there.
The government begins to hunt these monsters considered brain-eating parasites, using methods that are not exactly peaceful, the parasites are defined as a threat and must be eliminated. Meanwhile, Su In discovers that she is a mutant and begins a strange coexistence with her parasite, called Heidi, who doesn't seem to be so evil after all... She will be helped by Kang woo who wants to find out what happened to his sister but also protect Su In and Heidi because he has grown fond of them both.
Meanwhile, the police and the government continue to hunt down the parasites but even among them there are traitors and people who have doubts about the violent methods of the police. What if not all parasites are bad? What if there were mutants? What if coexistence was possible? A dense plot of interests, death, violence and experiments make this series a little science fiction gem. The idea of the parasite infesting human beings is not new, nor is that of the cruel brain-eating parasite, but here it is interesting to see how the mutant form of the parasite manages to establish a relationship with its host, without destroying it, but rather protecting it .
Obviously there is also criticism of the fact that some situations are resolved immediately in a repressive and violent way without being explored in depth. The plot may seem like a fairly classic plot but it is developed very well, with various twists and turns.
The episodes are never boring, there is a lot of action for those who like to see some fistfights and fights but there is also a lot of intrigue and secrets. Obviously also in this case like many others the objective of the parasites is to destroy the human race, so there is a war between the "alien" and human races. Here, however, the parasite race is very organized enough to create an association of their own, so it is not only a war of blood and combat but also a war of intellect and power.
For his acting, Koo kyo hwan is particularly noteworthy, already famous in his homeland, a multifaceted actor and not with the typical appearance of a handsome drama boy. A very well done series, compared to the manga it is darker and oriented towards conspiracy and action, in my opinion it is an enjoyable product, with just a few episodes and hopefully with a second season soon!

La serie se transmite actualmente en Netflix y en mi opinión realmente se encuentra entre las más atrapantes del momento. Os cuento brevemente la trama y luego mi opinión. La historia comienza en una velada en una discoteca donde una larva se infiltra en la cabeza de un niño que se transforma en una especie de monstruo con apariencia de planta casi carnívora y unas locas ganas de matar, continúa con una joven cajera de supermercado Su In che ella es La tratan mal y luego la ataca un cliente, dejándola moribunda, otra larva se desliza dentro de ella, pero Su In no se convierte en un monstruo. La policía comienza a seguir su caso, debido a que su cliente fue presenciado durante el ataque y su muerte es sospechosa, por lo que comienzan a investigar esta extraña muerte, especialmente a un inspector que conoce a Su In desde hace años, Cheol min. La idea del parásito infestando a los seres humanos no es nueva, como tampoco lo es la del cruel parásito devorador de cerebros, pero aquí es interesante ver cómo la forma mutante del parásito logra establecer una relación con su huésped, sin destruirlo. sino más bien protegerlo.
Evidentemente también se critica el hecho de que algunas situaciones se resuelvan inmediatamente de forma represiva y violenta sin ser exploradas en profundidad. La trama puede parecer un argumento bastante clásico pero está muy bien desarrollada, con varios giros y vueltas.
Los episodios nunca son aburridos, hay mucha acción para aquellos a quienes les gusta ver peleas y peleas, pero también hay mucha intriga y secretos. Obviamente también en este caso como muchos otros el objetivo de los parásitos es destruir la raza humana, por lo que hay una guerra entre las razas "alienígenas" y humanas. Aquí, sin embargo, la raza parásita está lo suficientemente organizada como para crear una asociación propia, por lo que no es sólo una guerra de sangre y combate sino también una guerra de intelecto y poder.
Por su actuación destaca especialmente Koo kyo hwan, ya famoso en su tierra natal, un actor polifacético y no con la típica apariencia de chico guapo de drama. Una serie muy bien hecha, comparada con el manga es más oscura y orientada a la conspiración y la acción, en mi opinión es un producto disfrutable, con pocos episodios y ojalá con una segunda temporada pronto!

I am pretty disappointed with the film honestly. I've watched its anime and I think this live action is less engrossing than the anime. I guess it's made to match the Korean taste and viewer to have the live action with plenty actions.
I agree with you it's really different from the anime , I think yes it's pretty corean style but I enjoyed it a lot, but I try to separate the series from the anime .
