I personally watch films by the directors, when my most important drive is — "Oh I might be missing something great."
However I occasionally watch films by genre, and they're mostly guilty pleasure ones. Like sci-fi, fantasy.
I recently watched one such guilty pleasure film, The Tomorrow War. It's bad as a film but enjoyed it for what it is.
