Hello to all the Hive community, today I do not come with an analysis only, actually I want to make a recommendation about a film that in my opinion is very underrated, and perhaps it is because of ignorance of it.
It is a cinematic masterpiece that is definitely worth seeing. Directed by Adrian Lyne and starring Tim Robbins, Elizabeth Peña and Danny Aiello, this movie combines elements of drama and suspense with a supernatural touch that makes it a thrilling and fascinating experience from beginning to end.

Hola a toda la comunidad de Hive, el día de hoy no vengo con un análisis únicamente, en realidad uiero hacer una recomendación sobre una película que a mi parecer está muy infravalorada, y quizá sea por desconocimiento de la misma. Es una obra maestra cinematográfica que en definitiva vale la pena ver. Dirigida por Adrian Lyne y protagonizada por Tim Robbins, Elizabeth Peña y Danny Aiello, esta película combina elementos de drama y suspenso con un toque sobrenatural que hace que sea una experiencia emocionante y fascinante de principio a fin.

The plot revolves around Jacob Singer, a Vietnam veteran who begins to experience vivid hallucinations after returning home. As he struggles to uncover the truth behind what is happening, he is drawn into a dark and complex world filled with conspiracies, deception and occult symbols.
As he begins to have visions and is plagued by strange nightmares, Jacob begins to doubt his sanity, especially when some of his fellow veterans seem to suffer from similar disorders.

La trama gira en torno a Jacob Singer, un veterano de Vietnam que comienza a experimentar vívidas alucinaciones después de regresar a casa. Mientras lucha por descubrir la verdad detrás de lo que está sucediendo, se ve arrastrado a un mundo oscuro y complejo lleno de conspiraciones, engaños y símbolos ocultos. A medida que empieza a tener visiones y lo asaltan extrañas pesadillas, Jacob comienza a dudar de su cordura, especialmente cuando algunos de sus compañeros veteranos parecen sufrir trastornos similares.

Through flashbacks to his time in Vietnam, as well as his failed marriage and the death of his son, the film explores Jacob's inner struggle to stay sane and find meaning in his life. It is suggested that his experience in Vietnam and his subsequent post-traumatic stress disorder are related to his current psychological problems.
Robbins' performance is impressive; Peña and Aiello also excel in their supporting roles. Lyne's direction is skillful and effective, creating a palpable atmosphere of tension and mystery. The film's soundtrack also deserves special mention, with an eclectic mix of classical, jazz and rock music that adds an extra dimension to the story.
An interesting aspect of the film is the way in which supernatural elements blend with mundane realities, reflecting Jacob's perception of his own shaky reality. The theme of fear of government control and manipulation is also addressed, adding another dimension to Jacob's psychological concerns.

A través de flashbacks a su tiempo en Vietnam, así como a su matrimonio fracasado y la muerte de su hijo, la película explora la lucha interior de Jacob para mantenerse cuerdo y encontrar un significado en su vida. Se sugiere que su experiencia en Vietnam y su posterior trastorno de estrés postraumático están relacionados con sus problemas psicológicos actuales.
La actuación de Robbins es impresionante; Peña y Aiello también destacan en sus papeles secundarios. La dirección de Lyne es hábil y efectiva, creando un ambiente palpable de tensión y misterio. To explain in a very simple way the plot of the movie, let's start with the beginning of the film. Jacob is in the middle of a trench with his battalion mates, they were taking advantage of the time to eat some of their supplies, smoke a little and joke with each other, from one moment to another everything becomes cloudy, they begin to hear noises from the forest so they prepare for the arrival of the enemy, an apparently invisible enemy because we never get to see him.
In the midst of the chaos Jacob enters the forest, where he is stabbed by a Bayonet and falls unconscious, from this point the film takes us to what we assume is the "future", seeing how Jacob rebuilt his life, got a job in a postal company, got a new partner and leads a relatively normal life. We also know from the narrative that, in addition to the traumatic experience of the war, there is the loss of his son, which gives rise to the vivid hallucinations and all the paranormal experiences shown.

Para explicar de forma muy sencilla la trama de la película, empecemos por el inicio del filme. Jacob se encuentra en medio de una trinchera junto a sus compañeros de batallón, estaban aprovechando el tiempo para comer algo de sus suministros, fumar un poco y bromear entre ellos, de un momento a otro todo se vuelve turbio, empiezan a escuchar ruidos desde el bosque por lo que se preparan para la llegada del enemigo, un enemigo aparentemente invisible pues nunca logramos verlo. En medio del caos Jacob se adentra al bosque, donde es apuñalado por una Bayoneta y cae inconsciente, a partir de este punto la película nos lleva a lo que asumimos es el “futuro”, viendo cómo Jacob rehízo su vida, consiguió un empleo en una empresa de correos, consiguió nueva pareja y lleva una vida relativamente normal. Sabemos también por parte de la narrativa que, además de la experiencia traumática vivida en la guerra, se suma la pérdida de su hijo, lo que origina las alucinaciones vívidas y todas las experiencias paranormales que se muestran.

In closing SPOILER ALERT.
One possible theory is that the film touches on themes of death and the afterlife, where Jacob's ladder acts as a bridge between the world of the living and the world of the dead. In this interpretation, the main character is in a state of limbo, having been killed in military action in Vietnam, and all the strange scenes he sees are a sort of test to determine whether he deserves to pass into heaven or hell.

Una posible teoría es que la película toca temas sobre la muerte y el más allá, donde la escalera de Jacob actúa como un puente entre el mundo de los vivos y el de los muertos. En esta interpretación, el personaje principal se encuentra en un estado de limbo, después de haber sido asesinado en acción militar en Vietnam, y todas las escenas extrañas que ve son una especie de prueba para determinar si merece pasar al cielo o al infierno.

In conclusion, the film "Jacob's Ladder" is a work rich in symbolism and meaning open to multiple interpretations. It addresses deep themes such as death, trauma, guilt, redemption and the struggle between light and darkness that remains relevant to this day. If you are looking for an intriguing and well-crafted film that challenges your expectations and keeps you on the edge of your seat, then this film is definitely a solid recommendation.

En conclusión, la película "Escalera de Jacob" es una obra rica en simbolismo y significado abierto a múltiples interpretaciones. Se dirige a temas profundos como la muerte, el trauma, la culpa, la redención y la lucha entre la luz y la oscuridad que sigue siendo relevante hasta hoy. Si estás buscando una película intrigante y bien elaborada que desafíe tus expectativas y te mantenga en el borde de tu asiento, entonces esta película es definitivamente una recomendación sólida.

Había visto la peli antes, me llamaba la atención porque los creadores de la saga de Silent Hill (una de mis sagas de juegos favoritas) se inspiraron de esta película, y me voló la cabeza 🤯. El final incluso me llevó al borde del llanto. Gran película, en verdad. Esto si es cine 🗿🚬
