An action drama starring Ryan Gosling. Cars, heists, mob and conflicts with relatively little use of firearms. Yet when those firing toys do get used in this film, it's efficient and for a good reason, which I think is one of the movie's greatest strengths.

Gosling's Driver (that really is what his character is called in this flick) is a man of few words; you could easily picture the star of Blade Runner 2049, The Gray Man and the upcoming Barbie playing son of Sylvester Stallone in any film really. He's living next door to The Great Gatsby's star Carey Mulligan's Irene, and her kid Benicio (Kaden Leos).

WHAT I LIKED
The cast featuring Ron Perlman (Hellboy and a hell of a lot of other action stuff) and Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston. Along with Gosling and Albert Brooks' Bernie they all create a compelling situation of a new driving talent essentially relying on help of the mob.
More realistic than John Wick.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE
It should have been about driving, but everything plays out differently; the plot device mainly stays just that - a plot device to drive some other action, not cars.
Sometimes there's a difference between being "a man of few words" and putting a twenty word long sentence in five words. Drive is an example of too few words.
