12 Strong: A Powerful Tribute to Real-Life Heroes — Movie Review

While I await the forthcoming Extraction 2 film, I decided to dive into another action-packed Chris Hemsworth movie.

Extraction 1 was a Masterpiece if you ask me. I enjoyed every part of the movie, from the storyline to the cinematography to the cast. Chris is a phenomenal actor and shoutouts to Sam Hargrave and Joe Russo for putting up such a great film.

But Extraction 2 won't be out until sometime in June, so I had to see another film that could be just as interesting as Extraction.

Behold, I found 12 Strong

Another military-themed film featuring Chris Hemsworth.

What better way to wait for Extraction 2 than with another film featuring Chris Hemsworth?

ABOUT THE MOVIE

12 Strong is a film based on true events that took place in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The movie accurately depicts the arrival of the US Special Forces team in Afghanistan in the immediate aftermath of 9/11. The team was tasked with assisting the Northern Alliance in fighting the Taliban, and the film shows them working alongside their Afghan counterparts to capture a Taliban stronghold in the region.

The movie begins with the harrowing events of the September 11th terrorist attacks on the United States. The opening scenes show the collapse of the Twin Towers in New York City and the American military's response to the attacks.

Chris Hemsworth plays Captain Mitch Nelson; a member of the 5th Special Forces Group of the United States Army. He has just returned from a lengthy leave after completing his training as a Green Beret. He is at home with his family when he learns of the terrorist attacks and the U.S. military's subsequent response.

Nelson reported to the military base with an interest to get his team to be part of the mission to take down the Taliban and their Al-Qaeda supporters, who are responsible for the 9/11 attacks.

Nelson is soon called upon to lead a team of 12 soldiers into Afghanistan. Their mission is to work with Afghan allies to take down the Taliban and their Al-Qaeda supporters.

The mission wasn't what they expected. The Afghan allies were at a great disadvantage as they used outdated firearms and rode on horses. This made the mission a new impossible one as the odds were strongly against them.

When the soldiers arrive in Afghanistan, they immediately start working with their Afghan partners. To complete their objective, they must learn to collaborate and overcome cultural differences and linguistic hurdles.

Casts

The cast of "12 Strong" features a talented ensemble of actors who deliver powerful performances.

Chris Hemsworth is compelling as Captain Mitch Nelson, the leader of the 12-man team, bringing a combination of stoicism and vulnerability to his character.

The supporting cast, including Navid Negahban, Trevante Rhodes, and William Fichtner, all give solid performances that add depth and complexity to the film's characters.

Michael Shannon is excellent as the tough and experienced Chief Warrant Officer Hal Spencer, while Michael Peña provides much-needed comic relief as Sergeant First Class Sam Diller, his great sense of humor can't be overstated.

CINEMATOGRAPHY

12 Strong is a visually stunning movie with excellent cinematography that captures the rugged, mountainous terrain of Afghanistan with breathtaking beauty.

The film's use of aerial shots, sweeping panoramas, and detailed close-ups creates an immersive experience that puts the audience right in the middle of the action.

The camera work during the battle sequences is particularly impressive, with dynamic shots that convey the intensity and chaos of the combat.

I say the cinematography was spot on! Perhaps just as good as Extration's.

My Thoughts

I think 12 Strong is a good film to see, I enjoyed watching it.

The movie depicts the horrors of war without glorifying it and reminds us of the human cost of conflict. The film is not only a thrilling action movie but also a moving tribute to the heroism of the soldiers who served in the war.

Overall, I highly recommend "12 Strong" to anyone who enjoys war movies or is interested in learning more about the events that led to the War on Terror.

I quite like this kind of movies because they try to emulate the reality of an event, it has very good actors, I hope to see it and enjoy it later.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy it as I did.

I'm not a big fan of this kind of movies but I liked this one. The plot, the cinematography and the action sequences are great. Michael Shannon is one of my favorite actors, I believe he does a great job every single time even if it's a small and brief part. Now I just remembered other movie that I liked more than this one: 13 Hours; man, that's a marvelous action film. Thank you for sharing

Thanks for stopping by. I agree with you about Michael Shannon, he has his way of appealing to viewers.
