I reviewed this movie weeks ago and I completely disagree with some of your views. To me, it was an interesting watch that did justice to the pre-colonicaial era.
The movie industry can not go to the apex at once, however brilliant movies like this can help change and attract people.
The movie also has a sex scene that was completely needless in my opinion
I don't think it was totally useless. First, it portrays the crazy romance between the two of them. It wasn't just sex in the bush, it was also a frequent thing in the room. The viewers needed to know that. Nudity is choice, a single scene couldn't have hurt.
