Esta es una película que tuve la oportunidad de ver junto a algunos amigos, me gustó mucho porque toca varios temas a la vez: Racismo, derecho al trabajo, a la educación y Feminismo. Se estrenó en el año 2017 y obtuvo muchas nominaciones, sin embargo, no obtuvo el mérito necesario.
Nos relata una historia real que cuenta la historia de tres mujeres de color quienes trabajan en la NASA y destacadas por su inteligencia.
Ser negra de por sí era un problema en aquella época, además ser mujer, desde años atrás existió el racismo en una manera terrible y es lamentable decir que aún existe.
This is a film that I had the opportunity to see with some friends, I liked it a lot because it touches on several issues at once: Racism, right to work, right to education and Feminism. It was released in 2017 and got many nominations, however, it did not get the necessary merit.
It tells us a true story that tells the story of three women of color who work at NASA and stood out for their intelligence.
Being black in itself was a problem at that time, besides being a woman, since years ago racism existed in a terrible way and it is unfortunate to say that it still exists.
Katherine Johnson, Mary Jackson y Dorothy Vaughan fueron las tres heroínas protagonistas. Al momento de ver esta película pensé que contaba una vez más la problemática del racismo en aquella época de los 60´s, sin embargo, es una historia verdadera basada en el lanzamiento del astronauta John Glenn.
Cómo mujer me siento orgullosa de que estas mujeres hicieran historia demostrando el empoderamiento femenino y que las mujeres también podemos. A pesar de que se les negaba el derecho a estudiar, trabajar con un sueldo digno, sumando las cruel discriminaciones por las que debían pasar, con sinceridad, agradezco a Dios por estas mujeres así como también a muchas otras que han hecho historia a través de los años.
Ellas fueron heroínas quienes se apoyaron entre ellas para fusionar sus conocimientos y jamás se rindieron aunque también tienen su vida personal, una familia, hijos, asisten a la iglesia y muchas veces llevan el trabajo a sus casas.
Katherine Johnson, Mary Jackson and Dorothy Vaughan were the three heroines. When I saw this movie I thought that it was telling once again the problem of racism in the 60's, however, it is a true story based on the launching of astronaut John Glenn.
As a woman I am proud that these women made history by demonstrating female empowerment and that women can do it too. Even though they were denied the right to study, to work with a decent salary, adding the cruel discriminations they had to go through, I sincerely thank God for these women as well as many others who have made history through the years.
They were heroines who supported each other to merge their knowledge and never gave up even though they also have their personal lives, a family, children, attend church and often take their work home.
Cada escena que viven estas mujeres entristece y duele. Kevin Costner (Al Harrison) quien era el director de las oficinas de la NASA y fue uno de los personajes que me gustó durante la película y que más adelante veremos la razón.
Mentes privilegiadas, llenas de coraje y valentía al abrirse paso teniendo todo en contra, en las oficinas se desempeñan cómo computadoras humanas. Pese a las humillaciones que reciben de parte de sus compañeros, a Katherine se le dió la oportunidad de trabajar directamente con la misión de poner a un hombre norteamericano a la órbita del espacio y traerlo de regreso sano y salvo a casa.
Every scene that these women go through saddens and hurts. Kevin Costner (Al Harrison) who was the director of the NASA offices and was one of the characters that I liked during the film and later we will see why.
Privileged minds, full of courage and bravery to make their way with everything against them, in the offices they perform like human computers. Despite the humiliations they receive from their colleagues, Katherine was given the opportunity to work directly with the mission to put an American man into space orbit and bring him back home safe and sound.
Contaba con pizzarrones gigantes en los cuales debía resolver cálculos matemáticos muy complicados, los hombres y personal de la NASA no querían hacer el trabajo que según ellos era de secretaría. Así que hacer cálculos y mediaciones era un trabajo de mujeres asumido por el área de las computadoras humanas y Katherine en el área en la que se encontraba designada para ayudar con la misión.
Una de las escenas más impactantes de la película fue en la que Katherine aún bajo una fuerte lluvia debía caminar y correr en tacones, con carpetas y libros en sus manos debía salir del edificio de las oficinas de la NASA para ir a un baño en un lugar bastante apartado del lugar en el que se encontraba trabajando.
She had giant pizzarrons on which she had to solve very complicated mathematical calculations, the men and staff at NASA did not want to do the work which they said was secretarial work. So doing calculations and mediations was a woman's job taken on by the human computer area and Katherine in the area where she was designated to help with the mission.
One of the most shocking scenes in the movie was the one in which Katherine still in the pouring rain had to walk and run in heels, with folders and books in her hands she had to leave the NASA office building to go to a restroom in a place quite far from where she was working.
Justo cuando le llama la atención su jefe por desaparecer varias veces durante el día ella alzó su voz para expresar que está soportando demasiado trabajando allí, nadie quiere tocar la cafetera en la que ella se sirve café y adicional caminar grandes distancias para ir al baño y sale del lugar mientras todos la observan con asombro.
Fue entonces cuando el jefe hizo algo asombroso que fue el primer paso para hacer valer los derechos de las personas de color en las oficinas de la NASA.
Éstas mujeres fueron capaces de dominar el lenguaje de las computadoras y pudieron enseñar a otras mujeres para que pudieran avanzar y superarse.
Just when her boss calls her attention to her for disappearing several times during the day she raises her voice to express that she is enduring too much working there, no one wants to touch the coffee pot where she pours coffee and additional walking long distances to go to the bathroom and leaves the place while everyone watches her in amazement.
It was then that the boss did something amazing that was the first step in asserting the rights of people of color in NASA offices.
These women were able to master the language of computers and were able to teach other women so they could advance and excel.
De hecho, la NASA había adquirido una computadora para ese entonces IBM, era un aparato enorme como un cuarto entero pero ¡Oh, sorpresa! Nadie en la empresa supo como funcionaba. Nuevamente recurrieron a las trabajadoras de la raza negra para que la programaran y aún con este aparato nisiquiera en el último minuto antes de poner en marcha el proyecto del hombre al espacio las coordenadas que emitió la computadora no coinciden y nuevamente recurren a Katherine para que con su mente e inteligencia los ayudase
Lo que más me sorprendió de esta historia es que el nombre de cada una de estas mujeres no han Sido tan oídos durante la historia, cuando si no hubiese sido por su aporte y trabajo fueron indispensables para poder enviar al primer hombre al espacio.
In fact, NASA had acquired a computer by that time IBM, it was a huge device like a whole room but oh, surprise! No one in the company knew how it worked. Again they turned to the black female workers to program it and even with this device, not even at the last minute before launching the man in space project, the coordinates that the computer issued did not match and again they turned to Katherine to help them with her mind and intelligence.
What surprised me most about this story is that the names of each of these women have not been heard so much during history, when if it had not been for their contribution and work they were indispensable to send the first man into space.
Esta película movió muchas fibras en mi, justo al final en los créditos fue mucha la emoción y pensar que todo esto sucedió hace apenas unas décadas atrás. Me encantaron las fotos reales que de hecho les comparto algunas por acá.
Les recomiendo que no dejen de verla ya que es una hermosa producción que nos relata un suceso de la vida real y me alegra que hoy éstas grandes mujeres lograron hacer historia mediante sus grandes hazañas. Por lo que hoy brindo un aplauso a todas esas mujeres y personas que luchan día a día por cambiar al mundo, a ustedes GRACIAS ❤️
This movie pulled a lot of heartstrings in me, right at the end of the credits I was so excited and to think that all this happened just a few decades ago. I loved the real photos that in fact I share some of them here.
I recommend that you do not fail to see it because it is a beautiful production that tells us a real life event and I am glad that today these great women managed to make history through their great deeds. So today I give a round of applause to all those women and people who fight every day to change the world, THANK YOU ❤️

Esta película es increíble!! A veces me cuesta creer que todo eso pasaba hace unos años atrás y lamentablemente aún quedan mucho lucha por delante!
Es una excelente película, es lamentable saber todo lo que vivían no solamente por ser de un color distinto sino también mujeres... Pero aún más lamentable es saber que esa lucha no ha llegado a su fin y probablemente continúe por generaciones 🥺😟
An incredible story based on true events. I saw it a while ago, I didn't know what the movie was about and it was a pleasant surprise. Of course the story is sweetened to make it more digestible to the viewer, but it was an entertaining movie where I learned about these women who made history at NASA.
Yes, it's based on real events and you know what? I thought the same thing... Somehow it's watered down because with so many situations that I imagine happened, they didn't even tell half of it. I loved watching this movie with those women who made history, however, I feel a little underwhelmed because they should have had more recognition.
Cada vez que veo películas con la trama del racismo o alguna otra situación de injusticia me da demasiada impotencia, aún no he tenido la oportunidad de ver esta película pero me la han recomendado mucho y de paso hay una escena que se hizo viral que es la del baño, debo destacar que las tres son increíbles actrices y no sé porqué no me he animado a verla. I saw this film when it was released and I really loved it. The perseverance of these women is admirable and their accomplishments can surely serve as inspiration for many people throughout generations. A really lovely movie that could easily be considered a must watch.
Amigaaa excelente reseña, esta película me he topado varias veces con ella por Facebook, y tal cual como mencionas, su tema principal es el racismo, derecho al trabajo... Definitivamente, se ve que es una película con un gran peso reflexivo. Sin duda merece ser vista.

Diría que fuera de algunas imprecisiones históricas dadas para mejorar la imagen y narrativa, fue uno de los mejores filmes de historia negra que existen, por que al menos intento sinceramente contar la historia lo mas cercano a lo posible y no romanizar demasiado lo que ya de por sí era una historia hermosa sobre esfuerzo y pasión laboral rompiendo todas las barreras y limitaciones.
