I think I stumbled across the book sometime but couldn't finish it. The undercurrent of gender violence seems to give the subject matter a drastic twist, also the love uncertainty. It's still a rather peculiar theme these days: the cycle of hitting and kissing remains.... I think the film digs into that in an extraordinary way.
