El cine me ha permitido enterarme de hechos históricos que por alguna razón no me enteré en su momento, el doble del diablo es una película biográfica de una parte de la vida del iraquí Latif Yahia quien fue una víctima de la dictadura de Sadam Husein específicamente de las atrocidades que hizo su hijo Uday Huseín.
Recuerdo que hace años cambiando los canales de televisión coincidí con esta película estaba terminando y no entendí de que se trataba, cuando eso no tenía suscripción por cable, esta semana buscando en Netflix algo para ver, leí su título el doble del diablo, por supuesto me causo curiosidad y a los 10 minutos me recordé que la había visto, esta vez si la vería completa y entendería la importancia de su contexto histórico.

I remember years ago changing TV channels I coincided with this movie was ending and I did not understand what it was about, when that did not have cable subscription, this week looking on Netflix for something to watch, I read its title the devil's double, of course it made me curious and after 10 minutes I remembered that I had seen it, this time if I would see it complete and understand the importance of its historical context.
Latif Yahia era un hombre común de Irak, un militar y para su mala suerte era muy parecido a Uday Huseín y este aprovecho la similitud para obligarlo a ser su doble, lo secuestro y obligó a ser su doble, en todo sentido, le operaron los ojos para abrirlos 5 milímetros, como era más bajo tuvo que usar zapatos con una suela 3 centímetros más altos, y aprender los gestos, modismos y expresiones de Uday, tuvo que soportar torturas y amenazas sobre su familia que lo obligaron aceptar y a olvidarse de quien era, debía repetir todos los días su nombre y decir que había muerto porque ahora era Uday Huseín el hijo mayor de Sadam Husein, quien fue expresidente de Irak, dictador y muerto en la horca por los crímenes que cometió, este también tenía dobles, inspirando a su hijo a tener un doble para sí mismo y convertirlo en su mejor juguete.
La película inicia cuando Latif es llevado al palacio y le hacen la propuesta de ser el doble, al principio el espectador no sabe si es el gemelo, su verdadero hermano o un amigo, mostrando las ventajas y lujos que tendría a su alcance solo por ser otro, sería como vender el alma al diablo, dejar de existir por el dinero, la fama y todo lo que se pueda comprar, realmente sonaba tentador, ¿pero qué pasaría con tu vida y tus familiares?, creo que hay que tener una vida muy mala para no querer ser tú mismo, para aceptar una propuesta así, el detalle es que Latif no tenía otra opción, debía aceptar aún en contra de su voluntad. Este hombre al final logró escapar contando su historia convertida en la novela “Yo fui el hijo de Saddam”
Latif Yahia was a common man from Iraq, a military man and to his bad luck he was very similar to Uday Hussein and this one took advantage of the similarity to force him to be his double, he kidnapped him and forced him to be his double, in every sense, they operated his eyes to open them 5 millimeters, as he was shorter he had to wear shoes with a sole 3 centimeters higher, and learn the gestures, idioms and expressions of Uday, He had to endure tortures and threats against his family that forced him to accept and forget who he was, he had to repeat his name every day and say that he had died because now he was Uday Hussein, the eldest son of Saddam Hussein, who was the former president of Iraq, dictator and dead on the gallows for the crimes he committed, he also had doubles, inspiring his son to have a double for himself and make him his best toy.
The movie starts when Latif is taken to the palace and he is proposed to be the double, at first the viewer does not know if it is the twin, his real brother or a friend, showing the advantages and luxuries that would be available just to be another, it would be like selling your soul to the devil, cease to exist for the money, fame and everything that can be bought, it really sounded tempting, but what would happen to your life and your family, I think you have to have a very bad life to not want to be yourself, to accept such a proposal, the detail is that Latif had no choice, he had to accept even against his will. This man finally managed to escape by telling his story in the novel "I was Saddam's son".

¿Qué es lo que podemos ver en la película? Las actuaciones del actor Dominic Cooper como el hijo verdadero de Saddam y también como su doble, en una lucha del bien contra el mal, en el personaje de Uday un hombre caprichoso, sádico, asesino, sin empatía, ni remordimientos, por el contrario, esta Latif, calmado, sensible, bueno y que soporta todo lo que puede para mantenerse vivo y no poner en peligro a su familia. Ambos personajes, bien desarrollados.
Sobre el ambiente y el vestuario se puede ver la ostentosidad que gozaban estos individuos, adecuada fotografía, te hace sentir en el pasado. La película tuvo varias nominaciones y tiene un puntaje sobre 7 de la opinión de los críticos.
Me abrió los ojos sobre los delitos que se comenten cuando se tiene poder y se abusa de él. Muestran con delicadeza torturas y hechos desagradables, sin ser sangrienta, con la excepción de una escena donde Uday asesina con cuchillos a uno de los trabajadores de su padre en una boda. Si no conoces la historia de Irak y tampoco los protagonistas de esta dictadura, esta película te puede dar información.
What can we see in the film? The performances of the actor Dominic Cooper as the real son of Saddam and also as his double, in a struggle of good against evil, in the character of Uday a capricious, sadistic, murderous man, without empathy or remorse, on the contrary, this Latif, calm, sensitive, good and endures everything he can to stay alive and not endanger his family. Both characters are well developed.
On the environment and costumes you can see the ostentatiousness that these individuals enjoyed, adequate photography, makes you feel in the past. The film had several nominations and has a score out of 7 from the critics' opinion.
It opened my eyes to the crimes that are committed when one has power and abuses it. It delicately shows torture and unpleasant deeds, without being gory, with the exception of one scene where Uday murders one of his father's workers with knives at a wedding. If you do not know the history of Iraq and the protagonists of this dictatorship, this film can give you information.

Se ve super interesante, estas películas cuando tocan tramas reales de personajes tan nefastos como la familia Hussein me llaman mucho la atención porque al final es parte de la historia y en cierta parte estamos obligados a conocerla. No tenía ni idea de la existencia de esto, en lo que tenga chance capaz le echo un ojo.
Seguro te gusta, yo aprendí mucho y me dejo impresionada.

No tenía idea de está película. Sin dudas, los hechos reales y que son parte de la historia deberían ser vistos. Parece que resultó ser de tal palo tal astilla. Bueno, gracias por compartir, se ve interesante. Saludos
Yo la vi cuando era más joven tendría yo unos 12 años y no entendía todavía lo que significaban las guerras o los conflictos entre países y al ver esta película siento que me dio mucho pavor que realmente existan personas así incluso hasta en nuestro mismo país que son hijos de políticos importantes y hacen lo que les da la gana sin ningún tipo de repercusión.
