Buenos días, tardes y noches, damas y caballeros. ¿Cómo se encuentran? Espero que estén bien. Yo evidentemente me encuentro en muy buena forma, últimamente me han pasado algunas cositas muy buenas y me pone de buen humor todo eso, así que vamos a continuar en donde lo dejamos en el post anterior, si no sabes a lo que me refiero, si lees los dos posts anteriores a éste te enterarás pero si te da flojera te lo volveré a explicar acá: últimamente he estado viendo películas de una sección que tiene Netflix dedicados a los nominados a los Oscar's, evidentemente como son nominados a éstos premios de gran importancia debe ser por alguna razón, por lo que supongo que son buenas y veo las que me interesan (las que me llamen más la atención debido a su portada y descripción). En este caso paso de hablar (en anteriores posts) acerca de una película que crítica el comportamiento de la sociedad, otra película que cuenta una historia de forma cruel sobre un importante icono de la cultura pop, a en esta ocasión analizar una película que considero es una caricia al alma por su forma en la que demuestra amor al espectador. Sí, es de esas películas en el que el final es lo más previsible del mundo pero lo que más se disfruta es sin dudas las actuaciones y el contenido de la historia en sí, tengo entendido que hay una versión más antigua de ésta cinta pero obviamente hablaré de la nueva. Así que sin más dilación, hablemos acerca de La vida ante sí.
Good morning, afternoons, and evenings, ladies and gentlemen. How are you? I hope you are well. I am obviously in very good shape, some good things have happened to me lately and all that puts me in a good mood, so let's continue where we left off in the previous post, if you don't know what I'm referring to, if you read the two previous posts before this one, you will find out, but if you feel lazy, I will explain it again here: lately I have been watching movies from a section on Netflix dedicated to the Oscar nominees, obviously since they are nominated for these important awards it must be for a reason, so I suppose they are good and I watch the ones that interest me (the ones that catch my attention due to their cover and description). In this case, I move from talking (in previous posts) about a movie that criticizes society's behavior, another movie that tells a cruel story about a significant icon of pop culture, to this time analyzing a movie that I consider to be a caress to the soul for the way it shows love to the viewer. Yes, it's one of those movies where the ending is the most predictable in the world, but what is undoubtedly most enjoyable is the performances and the content of the story itself, I understand there is an older version of this film but obviously I will talk about the new one. So, without further ado, let's talk about The Life Ahead.

La película nos pone en la piel de un pequeño niño inmigrante llamado Mohamed o como él prefiere que lo llamen, Momo. Momo es un niño huérfano que se gana la vida robando (luego traficando drogas) y un día cuando hace esto se cruzará en la vida de Madame Rosa, al hurtarle unos candelabros, Momo intentará esconder estos en el lugar donde vive (un centro de acogida de menores) pero será descubierto por el bueno del Doctor Coen, quien después de un poco de investigación averigua a quien le pertenecen y haciendo que se aparezca en la casa de Madame Rosa junto a Momo para que éste le pida disculpas. Madame Rosa es una mujer judía sobreviviente de Auschwitz, que en sus tiempos trabajaba de prostituta pero al ya ser una persona con mucha edad ahora se dedica a cuidar niños de las mujeres que comparten su antigua profesión o niños que quizás no tengan la esperanza de volver más nunca a sus madres; al Doctor Coen no saber qué hacer con Momo se le ocurre la idea de dejárselo a Madame Rosa para que ella ejerza como su figura materna, todo esto mientras el Doctor le consigue otro hogar. Al principio los dos, tanto Momo como Madame Rosa estarán renegados a quedarse el uno con el otro pero poco a poco comenzarán a comprenderse conforme va pasando el tiempo y es que a pesar de sus diferencias, el amor que nacerá entre ellos es lo que realmente necesitaban para apaciguar sus dolores.
The movie puts us in the shoes of a young immigrant boy named Mohamed or as he prefers to be called, Momo. Momo is an orphaned boy who makes a living by stealing (later trafficking drugs) and one day when he does this, he will cross paths with Madame Rosa, as he steals some candelabras from her, Momo will try to hide them in the place where he lives (a shelter for minors) but will be discovered by the kind Doctor Coen, who after a bit of investigation finds out who they belong to and makes Momo appear at Madame Rosa's house to apologize. Madame Rosa is a Jewish woman survivor of Auschwitz, who in her times worked as a prostitute but now being an elderly person dedicates herself to caring for children of women who share her former profession or children who perhaps do not have hope of returning to their mothers; since Doctor Coen doesn't know what to do with Momo, he comes up with the idea of leaving him with Madame Rosa so that she acts as his mother figure, all while the Doctor finds him another home. At first, both, Momo and Madame Rosa will be reluctant to stay with each other but gradually they will begin to understand each other as time passes and despite their differences, the love that will grow between them is what they really needed to soothe their pains.

El aspecto que más destaca de la película es sin dudas su construcción de personajes, haciendo que la obra vaya de menos a más, primero comenzando presentándonos a los personajes, sus problemas, su pasado y cómo es su forma de actuar, deberemos de conocerlos muy bien para empatizar con ellos a futuro, obviamente los que más destacan son los protagonistas Madame Rosa y Momo pero hay personajes igual de importantes para que el desarrollo se vuelva casi que realista, como los dos compañeros con los cuales deberá convivir Momo, quien en un principio los odia pero conforme los conoce les demuestra un aprecio incondicional, también tenemos a Lola, una prostituta transgénero que será el segundo apoyo de Momo y la mejor amiga de Madame Rosa, quien desborda una alegría que es capaz de contagiar a cualquiera que se le cruce, hasta el más malo. Tampoco podemos olvidar al señor Hamil, quien le enseñará a Momo lo que es el trabajo honesto y cómo de verdad hay que ganar dinero, además de ser como su figura paterna. Aunque no todos pueden ser buenos, también está el vendedor de droga que se aprovecha de Momo, encargándole vender paquetes y asignándole cada vez más responsabilidades. El clímax de la película ocurre cuando Momo y Madame Rosa quedan prácticamente solos, solo se tienen el uno al otro, logrando congeniar cada vez más, hasta el punto de que Madame Rosa le habla sobre su pasado pero él en su inocencia infantil no entiende, Momo ni sabe lo que es Auschwitz, terminando todo en una promesa que Momo deberá de cumplir sí o sí.
The aspect that stands out the most about the movie is undoubtedly its character development, making the work go from less to more, first starting by introducing us to the characters, their problems, their past, and how they act, we must know them very well to empathize with them in the future, obviously the ones that stand out the most are the protagonists Madame Rosa and Momo but there are equally important characters for the development to become almost realistic, such as the two companions with whom Momo will have to live, who initially hates them but as he gets to know them he shows them unconditional affection, we also have Lola, a transgender prostitute who will be Momo's second support and Madame Rosa's best friend, who exudes a joy that is able to infect anyone who crosses paths with her, even the evilest. We cannot forget Mr. Hamil, who will teach Momo what honest work is and how money should truly be earned, in addition to being like a father figure to him. Although not all can be good, there is also the drug dealer who takes advantage of Momo, instructing him to sell packages and assigning him more and more responsibilities. The climax of the movie occurs when Momo and Madame Rosa are practically alone, they only have each other, managing to connect more and more, to the point where Madame Rosa talks to him about her past but in his childlike innocence he doesn't understand, Momo doesn't even know what Auschwitz is, ending everything in a promise that Momo must fulfill no matter what.

La profundidad con lo que ocurre todo, los personajes tan realistas, hace que el mensaje te llegue al corazón, de verdad sientes una preocupación genuina por los personajes, no quieres que les ocurran nada, quieres verlos salir de las malas situaciones en que se encuentran y sobretodo te preocupas por Momo, quieres verlo mejorar como persona y que de verdad aalga hacia delante porque tiene toda una vida por delante y un mejor futuro le espera, hay escenas que son simplemente conmovedoras, sientes una paz y tranquilidad inmensa como aquella donde Lola y Madame Rosa bailan o la hermosa escena donde Momo le regala réplica de una mimosa a Madame Rosa, simplemente por esta última la película vale toda la pena, la actuación y el momento, las palabras que se dicen, es magistral. Un aspecto que destaca mucho de la película o que bueno, en mi parecer me gustó bastante es la banda sonora, tiene unas buenas piezas que encajan con el momento justo y que son agradables al oído, en cuanto a la dirección de arte solo quiero destacar la escena cuando Madame Rosa admira un paisaje junto a Momo después de que este la haya sacado del hospital, es preciosa. Si te gustan las películas conmovedoras y bien actuadas, te la recomiendo un 110%, no es algo innovador pero vale totalmente la pena.
The depth with which everything happens, the characters so realistic, makes the message reach your heart, you truly feel a genuine concern for the characters, you don't want anything to happen to them, you want to see them get out of the bad situations they are in and above all you worry about Momo, you want to see him improve as a person and truly move forward because he has a whole life ahead of him and a better future awaits him, there are scenes that are simply touching, you feel a great peace and tranquility like that where Lola and Madame Rosa dance or the beautiful scene where Momo gifts a mimosa replica to Madame Rosa, simply for this last one the movie is worth it all, the acting and the moment, the words that are said, it's masterful. One aspect that stands out a lot in the movie or that well, in my opinion I liked quite a bit is the soundtrack, it has some good pieces that fit just right and are pleasant to the ear, as for the art direction I just want to highlight the scene where Madame Rosa admires a landscape with Momo after he has taken her out of the hospital, it's beautiful. If you like touching and well-acted movies, I recommend it 110%, it's not innovative but worth it completely.
I love movies with amazing soundtracks. For me, they add to the quality of the movie. From your review, it's obvious the actors played their roles really well.
