Cuando no tienes ningún plan para el fin de semana la mejor alternativa es quedarse en casa descansando. Eso me pasó a mi ayer, no tenía ningún plan ni mucho menos alguna invitación para pasear. Así que la mejor opción que tenía era quedarme en casa, preparar unas cotufas y ver una película.
Desconozco que tipo de ritual tienen ustedes para decidir qué película ver, los míos varían mucho, sin embargo ayer no tenía ganas de indagar mucho y puse la primera película que encontré, para mi sorpresa era una comedia, una de esas películas parodia que a muchos gustan y a otros no tanto. Uno de mis primeras sorpresas es que la película estreno hace un par de días, así que está bastante desconocida aun. Prepárate entonces para este review de: Quasi “La verdadera historia del Jorobado de Notre Dame”.
When you don't have any plans for the weekend the best alternative is to stay at home resting. That happened to me yesterday, I didn't have any plan or any invitation to go for a walk. So the best option I had was to stay at home, prepare some popcorn and watch a movie.
I don't know what kind of ritual you have to decide what movie to watch, mine vary a lot, however yesterday I didn't want to dig too much and I put the first movie I found, to my surprise it was a comedy, one of those parody movies that many like and others not so much. One of my first surprises is that the movie was released a couple of days ago, so it is still quite unknown. So get ready for this review of: Quasi "The True Story of the Hunchback of Notre Dame".
Ambientada en la época medieval, Quasi sigue la historia del jorobado de Notre Dame, pero visto desde otra perspectiva, de hecho aseguran que esa película es la verdadera historia, porque ya nadie lee actualmente historia medieval francesa del siglo XII. De esta manera la audiencia conocerá una versión del jorobado que quizá no haya oído antes. Aunque Quasi puede no sea del agrado de muchos, ofrece una visión diferente del cuento utilizando el recurso de la parodia, así es, Quasi es una película de comedia que explota el género de manera fresca y acertada. Atrás quedaron las películas de parodia que para disfrutarla era necesario haber visto previamente varias películas para entenderla y disfrutarla. Quasi por su parte es una historia original parodiada, no necesita que hayas visto nada previamente, con que solo conozcas la historia de Quasimodo todo estará bien.
El cine de parodia ha sido popular desde hace muchos años. El género se caracteriza por hacer imitaciones, exagerar la realidad de los personajes y las situaciones en las que se ven envueltos. La ventaja del cine parodia es la facilidad con la que utilizando la sátira, toca temas de la cultura popular y valiéndose de la comedia logra ofrecer una visión más humorística de casi cualquier cosa. Quasi quizás no sea la mejor película de parodia que veras, pero cuenta con todos los elementos para sacarte un par de buenas carcajadas y debido a la ausencia de películas originales en los últimos años una historia como esta no cae nada mal.

En esta película el personaje del jorobado trabaja como verdugo en una empresa encargada de probar los artefactos de tortura. Quasi de hecho es el inventor de uno de los artefactos de tortura -no sé cómo se llama pero es la mesa donde ataban a la persona de los extremos y comenzaban a estirarlos con unas poleas.- Por cosas del destino el jorobado conoce a la reina con la cual desarrolla una conexión afectiva inmediata. Posteriormente el jorobado ganaría mediante un sorteo de lotería una confesión con el papa, quien iría de visita papal a Francia. Pero lo que Quasi no sabía es que el mismo destino y suerte que lo hizo ganar la confesión con el papa lo dejaría envuelto en una guerra entre dos personas poderosas, el rey de Francia y el papa. Todo comienza cuando el rey le pide a Quasi que asesine al papa, y el giro de trama llega cuando el mismísimo papa le pide que mate al rey. Una historia real al mejor estilo de Game of Thrones haha.
In this movie the hunchback character works as an executioner in a company in charge of testing torture devices. Quasi in fact is the inventor of one of the torture devices ~I do not know what it is called but it is the table where they tied the person at the ends and began to stretch them with pulleys.~ As fate would have it, the hunchback meets the queen with whom he develops an immediate emotional connection. Later on, the hunchback would win a confession with the pope, who would go on a papal visit to France. But what Quasi did not know is that the same fate and luck that made him win the confession with the pope would leave him involved in a war between two powerful people, the king of France and the pope. It all begins when the king asks Quasi to assassinate the pope, and the plot twist comes when the pope himself asks him to kill the king. A royal story in the best Game of Thrones style haha.
No es conveniente contar más sobre la trama de esta película ya que en sí misma no es más de lo anteriormente mencionado, haciendo que Quasi sea una película fácil de seguir. La narrativa no se desvía en ningún momento de la trama principal, ocurre todo lo contrario, le aporta sub tramas emocionales que no interfieren con el guion, solo están allí como un adicional explotable. Aunque hay momentos donde los chistes son muy bobalicones y repetitivos haciendo que se pierda la gracia, son más los momentos inteligentes donde la comedia está perfectamente bien aplicada. Como una escena donde el papa está a punto de comer, pero su cardenal sirviente debe probar la comida primero por sospecha de que pueda estar envenenada y la manera en la que prueba los alimentos es hilarante.
It is not convenient to tell more about the plot of this film since it is not more than the above mentioned, making Quasi an easy film to follow. The narrative does not deviate at any time from the main plot, on the contrary, it brings emotional subplots that do not interfere with the script, they are just there as an additional exploitable. Although there are moments where the jokes are very goofy and repetitive making it lose the funniness, there are more intelligent moments where the comedy is perfectly well applied. Like a scene where the pope is about to eat, but his cardinal servant must taste the food first on suspicion that it might be poisoned and the way he tastes the food is hilarious.
¿Vale la pena? / is it worth it?
Mis impresiones finales de esta película son las siguientes: Quasi es una historia sencilla, capaz de sacarte risas, el humor de la película es bastante irreverente sin llegar a ofender como quizás puedas creerlo. La burla y la sátira a los personajes de poder como un rey o la misma figura del papa llega en buen momento donde las polémicas de las familias reales y la iglesia católica en la actualidad también son noticia. Esta comedia sirve como alivio a las tensiones de la vida real, al no tener tanto que entender es como si se desconectara el cerebro solo para burlarnos de todo lo conocido y eso sin duda es otro punto a favor para esta película ya que logra el objetivo
No todo puede ser bueno, lo aspectos que menos me gustaron de la película es que hay chistes realmente malos, que por momentos hacen que uno se pregunte ¿qué c..ajo estoy viendo? En el mal sentido de la palabra. Al ser una historia de parodia las actuaciones no suelen ser muy metódicas, tal es el caso de Quasi que realmente no logra vender el personaje, uno sabe que está allí solo para burlarnos, lo menciono ya que al ser el personaje principal quizás pudieron cuidar más ese aspecto. También fue un poco decepcionante el acto final de la película, ya que siento que le quisieron dar un final cómico, pero a su vez en mi opinión terminaron sepultando la idea principal con una resolución poco satisfactoria y llena nuevamente de chistes muy poco favorables.
My final impressions of this film are as follows: Quasi is a simple story, capable of getting a laugh out of you, the humor of the film is quite irreverent without being offensive as you might think. The mockery and satire to the characters of power as a king or the same figure of the pope comes at a good time where the controversies of the royal families and the Catholic Church today are also news. This comedy serves as a relief to the tensions of real life, not having so much to understand is as if the brain is disconnected just to make fun of everything known and that certainly is another plus for this film as it achieves the goal.
Not everything can be good, my least favorite aspect of the movie is that there are some really bad jokes, which at times make you wonder what the f..ck am I watching? In the bad sense of the word. Being a parody story the performances are usually not very methodical, such is the case of Quasi who really fails to sell the character, one knows he is there just to make fun of us, I mention this since being the main character maybe they could have taken more care of that aspect. The final act of the film was also a bit disappointing, as I feel that they wanted to give it a comic ending, but in my opinion they ended up burying the main idea with an unsatisfactory resolution and full again of very unflattering jokes.
Quasi tiene el balance ideal para decir que es una película muy entretenida, es diferente y fresca. Si me tocara calificarla le daría 3.5 estrellas de 5, pero solo dentro del género de parodia y sátiras.

Hace días estuve buscando algo como esto y no conseguí nada. Es irónico, ciertamente estos géneros data de hace mucho tiempo pero no siempre se acierta con el objetivo. Suele pasar lo que dices ¿qué ca..ajos? Hago viendo esto... jajaja pero bueno, si no la vemos, no podemos valorar. Voy por esta película jajaja. Saludos y gracias por compartir.

El doblaje latino de la película es muy acertado, así que si no eres de ver películas en idioma original puedes apreciar los chistes en latino. Ya que por lo general al estár en inglés a veces pierden el sentido.
