The Unforgivable is a remake of the 2009 TV series 'Unforgiven'. It stars Sandra Bullock who is also a co-producer alongside Graham King and Veronica Ferres. The plot is about a woman in search of her estranged sister after she served time in prison for murdering a sheriff.

The Plot
Ruth Slater is released from prison after serving 20 years for killing a sheriff when he tried evicting her and her little sister from their house. Now out, she gets a job with the help of her parole officer and he warns her to stay low and drop the idea of looking for her now older little sister.
She pays a visit to her old house where the incident occurred and she was happy to see it renovated despite the rush of unpleasant memories she had at that moment. She learns that the new house owner is a lawyer and she pleads with him to help search for her sister.
Ruth meets up with the adopted parents of her sister thanks to the lawyer and the meeting goes sour as the parents do not think a convicted murderer should be anywhere close to their daughter.
Meanwhile, Keith, the son of the sheriff Ruth killed had been stalking her since her release and he planned on taking revenge for the death of his father. He follows Ruth as she tries to meet her sister and the situation gets complicated when he kidnaps the wrong person.
My Thoughts
This was an intense watch. There wasn't a lot of dialogue from Sandra Bullock yet in her silence, her pain was conveyed. She had been made tough by the prison life and the only soft part of her was the one in search of her sister. This is the most dramatic I've seen Bullock before, Bird Box doesn't even come close.
I found every scene with Viola Davis electric and I liked how Ruth's secret was revealed in the scene where they had a back and forth. This is also my favourite scene.
The rest of the cast were good too and the story was pretty much okay. It wasn't deep enough though for the very strong characters it had. Some scenes were unnecessary like the one Keith found his wife was cheating. We already knew he was filled with trauma and revenge, that scene was not needed to aggravate it.
I don't know much about movie productions but I do know picture quality can make or break a movie. The colour theme of this movie screams melodrama and will keep you engaged even if the story isn't doing it for you. There was not a second I zoned out while watching this.
I will rate it 7/10.

You liked the movie. I liked it too. A lot of professional critics have given it bad reviews, those people are wrong. It is a good dramatic film, well acted and directed. Most of the audience liked it.

I wonder why I didn't enjoy the movie. It was too cliché. The acting was great but the plot and story were both unexciting
