Today, May 22, 2024, the film NAHIR was released by Amazon on the Prime Video platform, fortunately for me I enjoy that streaming service and today I was able to see it in premiere.
I had been following this case for a long time, since it was not only a shocking but also controversial crime in Argentina in recent years, which also had a lot of media coverage. This is the 19-year-old Nahir Galarza, who murdered her boyfriend Fernando Pastorizzo in 2017 and was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2018, which made her the youngest woman in Argentina to receive this sentence.
Hoy 22 de mayo 2024 se estrenó la película NAHIR por parte de Amazon en la plataforma de Prime Video, afortunadamente para mí disfruto ese servicio de streaming y hoy mismo pude verla en estreno.
Este caso lo venía siguiendo desde hace tiempo, ya que fue un crimen no solo impactante sino también controversial de Argentina en los últimos años, que además tuvo mucha cobertura de los medios de comunicación. Se trata de la joven Nahir Galarza de 19 años, que asesinó a su novio Fernando Pastorizzo en el año 2017 y condenada a cadena perpetua en el 2018, lo que la hizo en la mujer más joven en Argentina en recibir esta sentencia.

In this post I want to express what I liked about this film "Nahir", which had a duration of almost two hours, made in Argentina, and as I already mentioned it was released today, so my appreciation is quite personal but I feel that since I know the case I have a clearer point of view.
Si ya conocías el caso de Nahir Galarza, la película Nahir no tiene mayor información al respecto, es tal cual lo que fue dejándose al alcance del público durante todo el proceso judicial y penal, incluso creo que se quedaron cortos en ciertos sucesos que pude ver en su oportunidad, como lo fueron las manifestaciones de las personas pidiendo que no le dieran tantos privilegios a Nahir o el apoyo que ella tuvo de la comunidad feminista al considerar que no debieron darle sentencia de cadena perpetua tan rápidamente.
En esta publicación quiero expresar lo que me gustó de esta película "Nahir", que tuvo una duración de casi dos horas, realizada en Argentina, y como ya mencioné se estrenó hoy, así que mi apreciación es bastante personal pero siento que dado que conozco el caso tengo un punto de vista más claro.
MY PROBLEM WITH THE CASTING
I perfectly understand that production companies want to have maximum profitability from their film products, and that they want only the casting to click with the audience so that they make the decision to watch the films or series. But I have a problem with using famous actors or actresses for this purpose, due to the fact that today there is a phenomenon and that is that the audience comes to glorify not only the actor or actress, but even the character that in this Case is a real life character.
It happened with the Netflix series "Damher" starring Evan Peters in the character of Jeffrey Damher, a disturbing serial killer. There was a response from the audience in praising Evan's performance, to the point of dressing like him, or wanting to buy objects like his glasses, even making comments like he deserved better treatment because of his beauty, etc. I understand that this is not the actor's fault, and also that, as I already said, the producers want to guarantee his success, but the fan response really bothers me a little.
MI PROBLEMA CON EL CASTING
Entiendo perfectamente que las productoras quieren tener la máxima rentabilidad de sus productos fílmicos, y que buscan que solo el casting haga click en la audiencia para que tomen la decisión de ver las películas o las series. Pero tengo un problema con que utilicen a actores o actrices famosas para tal fin, por el hecho de que hoy en día hay un fenómeno y es que la audiencia llegan a glorificar no solo al actor o actriz, sino que incluso al personaje que en este caso es un personaje de la vida real.
Pasó con la serie de Netflix "Damher" protagonizada por Evan Peters en el personaje de Jeffrey Damher, un perturbador asesino serial. Hubo una respuesta de la audiencia en exaltar la actuación de Evan, al punto de vestir como él, o querer comprar objetos como sus lentes, incluso hacer comentarios como que merecía un mejor trato por su belleza, etc. Entiendo que eso no es culpa del actor, y también que como ya dije las productoras quieren garantizar su éxito, pero realmente me molesta un poco la respuesta de los fanáticos.

MY PROBLEM WITH THE NARRATIVE
The film is narrated in two parts, when Nahir is in jail and the judicial process, and also in flashback the memories of what it was like when Nahir and Fernando, who would be his victim in the future, met.
I feel like the flashback device is overused, and I rarely feel like it works or that I really liked it. Many films have used it and I appreciate more the originality in other types of narrative on the part of the directors to tell the story. In my opinion they used it too much.
MI PROBLEMA CON LA NARRACIÓN
La película la narran en dos tiempos, cuando Nahir está en la cárcel y el proceso judicial, y también en tipo flashback los recuerdos de cómo fue cuando se conocieron Nahir y Fernando, quien sería su víctima en el futuro.
Siento que el recurso del flashback está muy utilizado, y pocas veces siento que funciona o que me gustó realmente. Muchas películas lo han utilizado y aprecio más la originalidad en otro tipo de narrativa por parte de los directores para contar la historia. En mi opinión lo utilizaron demasiado.
MY PROBLEM WITH THE MOVIE REALLY
When I watch a film or documentary series, or a film or series "based on real events" I always pay attention to who is behind it, what was meant by it, and by understanding this I can realize what I am seeing.
In Nahir I feel that it has the purpose of making the protagonist a little better, in fact it was always like that in real life, they always wanted to show that she was pretty and that possibly she was in a toxic relationship, and that possibly it was an accident, or how even after her sentencing she wanted to tell us that her father was the murderer and not her. Telling us all this in the film is fine, but they didn't make an effort to tell us about the victim, about the fights they had that led to violence, they don't show us a toxic, manipulative and spoiled Nahir. We learned that in real life through the media, interviews, her contradictions, her absurd demands about the treatment she claimed she deserved, etc.
Although this film was about Nahir, I feel that out of respect for her direct victim, who was her boyfriend Fernando Pastorizzo, the story should have been told with more respect for him and her family.
MI PROBLEMA CON LA PELÍCULA REALMENTE
Cuando veo una película o serie documental, o una película o serie "basada en hechos reales" siempre presto atención a quien está detrás de ella, que se quiso decir con ella, y entendiendo esto puedo darme cuenta de que es lo que estoy viendo.
En Nahir siento que tiene el propósito de dejar un poco mejor a la protagonista, de hecho siempre fue así en la vida real, siempre se quiso dejar ver que ella era bonita y que posiblemente si estaba en una relación tóxica, y que posiblemente si fue un accidente, o como incluso posterior a su sentencia quiso contarnos que su papá fue el asesino y no ella. Contarnos todo esto en la película está bien, pero no hicieron un esfuerzo en contarnos sobre la víctima, sobre las peleas que tenían que llegaron a violencia, no nos muestran a Nahir tóxica, manipuladora y malcriada. Eso lo conocimos en la vida real a través de los medio de comunicación, entrevistas, sus contradicciones, sus demandas absurdas sobre el trato que según ella merecía, etc.
Aunque esta película era sobre Nahir, siento que por respeto a la víctima directa de ella que fue su novio Fernando Pastorizzo, debió haberse contado la historia con más respeto hacia él y su familia.
MY PROBLEM WITH PRODUCTION
This is really "Personal." I'm too used to American movies and series and I think Nahir lacks quality elements. For example, a consistent color palette throughout the film, better audio, better angles, better camera movements, better background music, etc. I even think they used music very similar to that of the Vis a Vis series, and that shocked me a little.
Maybe it's just me, I'm not a film student or a graduate, I'm just a high consumer of the seventh art, and I feel like Nahir was lacking.

Esto si es realmente "Personal" estoy demasiado acostumbrada a las películas y series estadounidense y creo que le faltan elementos de calidad a Nahir. Por ejemplo una paleta de colores consistente durante todo el film, un mejor audio, mejores ángulos, mejores movimientos de cámara, mejor música de fondo, etc. Incluso, creo que usaron como una música muy parecida a la de la serie Vis a Vis, y eso me chocó un poco.
Tal vez solo soy yo, no soy estudiante de cine ni graduada, solo soy altamente consumidora del séptimo arte, y siento que le faltó a Nahir.
THE PERFORMANCES
Apart from Valentina Zenere, I don't know the other actors, I haven't seen them in other productions, but I don't feel like I've seen memorable performances in Nahir, and that's another thing I like, when an actor or actress leaves us a memorable scene, But it was not the case. Although I recognize that Valentina did a good job, I think that it did not make her leave her comfort zone because she has already played the role of cold and calculating before, in Nahir she did it well and the fact is that the real Nahir Galarza was actually like that .
LAS ACTUACIONES
A parte de Valentina Zenere no conozco a los otros actores, no los he visto en otras producciones, pero no siento haber visto actuaciones memorables en Nahir, y ese es otra cosa que me gusta, cuando un actor o actriz nos deja una escena memorable, pero no fue el caso. Aunque reconozco que Valentina hizo un buen trabajo, creo que no la hizo salir de su área de comodidad pues el papel de fría y calculadora ya lo ha hecho antes, en Nahir lo hizo bien y es que además la verdadera Nahir Galarza era así en realidad.

Hola amiga... Yo digo que es bueno verla y consumirla desde el análisis para ir desarrollando nuestro sentido crítico y punto de vista.
Especialmente les digo eso a mis hijos, que siempre vean más allá de lo que le están presentando, y evalúen que nos quiere decir el director, la productora, quien financia; si es informar, contarnos algo, manipular los hechos y nuestra opinión... O simplemente entretenernos.

Esta vez de verdad que corrí, nunca había hecho un post así de rápido, el mismo día de su estreno, te cuento que se sintió súper bien, porque era mi opinión al 100% sin haber escuchado las reacciones o la receptividad del público. De todos modos, todas las opiniones son válidas si a algunos les gustó más que a mí.
Como alta consumidora de películas y series, estoy más atenta a qué nos quieren contar y quien nos lo cuenta, para no sentirme manipulada, porque ciertamente todo tiene un fin, nada es casualidad y nada es gratis, siempre ojos abiertos.

Quiero ver este proyecto desde que lo anunciaron porque seguí el caso real en redes sociales cunado ocurrió, aunque el casting me crea bastantes dudas.
Quizás no cumpla mis expectativas.. lo estoy sospechando...
Es lo más seguro... Más completo y objetivos fueron los Creadores de Contenido de las RRSS que estuvieron haciendo seguimiento al caso.
Y como va siendo moda últimamente, invisibilizando a los hombres, es increíble lo que está pasando hoy en día.
