Un breve marco histórico
El cine erótico ha sido siempre la rama temática controvertida del séptimo arte.
Al dejar en evidencia los hábitos más íntimos del ser humano, sus motivaciones e implicaciones, siempre ha estado acompañada de los prejuicios y tabúes de sus propias épocas.
A principios de los '70 “El Ultimo Tango en Paris” protagonizada por Marlon Brando y Romy Schneider fue un escándalo social al sacar a la luz las prácticas sexuales de las que era imposible hablar en público en ese momento y en los '80 "Atracción fatal" se adentró en la psicología oscura del erotismo, dándole un giro más alto a la tuerca de la cinematografía erótica.
Sinópsis
En 1989 se estrena “Sexo, mentiras y video” , una película que impacta de entrada por su título directo y nada metafórico.

Esta cinta, cuenta la historia de un abogado y el romance que tiene con la hermana de su esposa.
La esposa se engaña a si misma ante las obvias evidencias de esa relación oculta y cuando parece que la infidelidad saldrá a flote, como en una trama común, aparece en escena un antiguo amigo del marido que empieza a acercarse a esta esposa engañada y a la cuál va involucrando en su fantasía voyeurista, grabar a las personas hablando de su sexualidad. Digamos que es como una versión en vídeo del famoso "Informe Hite" del año 73
Análisis
Esta película, sub valorada en su época por ser más directa de lo que se consideraba necesario, se ocupa de dejar en evidencia la psicología y emocionalidad de unos personajes con los que cualquiera se podía identificar.
No solo deja ver claramente los prejuicios y tabúes sexuales, sino las razones por las cuales se generan los traumas que no permiten desarrollar sanamente la sexualidad.
Una temática poco abordada hasta el momento.
De entrada, en la película se muestra la diferencia entre como vive su sexualidad la hermana mayor, más influída por los cánones tradicionales, y la hermana menor, con una mentalidad más moderna.
Deja al descubierto el egoísmo inculcado en el hombre y expresado como machismo con el personaje de un marido al que no le importa la satisfacción sexual de su esposa.
También plantea la capacidad de aceptación a si misma y a los cambios de la esposa engañada que decide enfrentarse a sus miedos y perdonar a su hermana.
Definitivamente, una película con una exploración introspectiva en la psicología del ser que no era común a finales de los "80.
Actualización
Si la miramos desde la perspectiva moderna, "Sexo, mentiras y videos" pareciera ser, como dice el refrán, "mucho ruido por pocas nueces", ya que en la actualidad, con el desarrollo de las cámaras de vídeo de los teléfonos celulares, el hecho de grabar un video íntimo ya no es algo ni extraño ni sorprendente.
Definitivamente hay que ponerse en el contexto histórico/temporal de esta película para apreciar su aporte y entenderla.
Al día de hoy y casi 35 años después del rodaje y exhibición de esta cinta podemos ver que, en las redes lo que fue tildado de inmoral en aquel entonces, se hace de forma abierta y sin restricciones. Ha cambiado la moral? Ha variado la visión del sexo? Por cierto, Steven Soderbergh es ell creador, escritor y director de esta película, quien alguna vez declaró que había estructurado esta idea en apenas ocho días.
La película ganó la Palma de Oro en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Cannes y se convirtió en un éxito comercial a nivel mundial que contribuyó enormemente a la revolución de cine independiente de los años 1990.
Y aún cuando pasa el tiempo, esta película no deja de ser referencia. En los últimos tiempos.
Cuando se destapó el caso
Weinstein e incluso un poco antes, con el caso Epstein, (casos ambos relacionados con delitos sexuales y personajes de las élites empresariales y artísticas de los estados unidos) la película "Sexo, mentiras y videos" fue nombrada como referencia para describir esta trama de la vida real, lo cuál me llevó a creer que su director Steven Soderbergh, estaba involucrado en dicho escándalo y esa apreciación errada que tuve la había colocado como dato en esta reseña.
Pero como siempre, y lo mágico de pertenecer a este mundo de Hive, es que no estamos solos, y que impera el respeto, la cortesía y el buen ánimo de colaboración.
Así que recibí una nota de @jcrodriguez indicándome el error, lo cual me motivó a revisar más en internet y descubrir el por qué de mi equivocacion.
Por ello, hago una edición en este post para dejar claro que el director Steven Soderbergh no tiene relación con los casos de abuso sexual de los escándalos Weinstein y Epstein.

¿Steven Soderbergh demandado por acoso? esa información es errada. El cineasta no ha estado involucrado en ningún escándalo similar y continua trabajando, hace unos meses vi su mas reciente film y es muy respetado por los actores y actrices con los que ha trabajado.

Cuando se destapó el caso Weinstein, llegué a ver una nota donde mencionaban la película y eso me llevo a pensar que su director estaba involucrado en el caso.
Gracias a tu comentario me he puesto a revisar y he descubierto que es de allí que viene mi confusión.
Mencionaban la película, tal vez como referencia simbólica, y yo entendí que era una relación con el caso. Espero que esta errada asociación no le pase a otras personas.
Por ello he editado el post y comentado allí esto que me ha sucedido.
