AskLeo - The 1000 Bitcoin Dilemma

in LeoFinance3 years ago

A few days ago I watched a video of @onealfa and his daughter having Bitcoin as the main character, that was actually created about seven years ago and I really need to point that out, and it wasn't a simple TA vlog or getting rich quick scheme show off one, they probably don't even do TA, it was more of an educational one that I wished I could have watched many years ago.

Call them lucky, inspired or simply good investors, but how awesome does it feel to have discovered Bitcoin when it was in it's really early stage, when it was damn cheap, when the majority of us weren't even able to grasp the blockchain technology and the notion of cryptocurrency.

There were times when a couple of grands would have bought you a few bitcoins, while getting in its really early stages could have been the opportunity of a life time, being able to buy hundreds of them, if not thousands for a few grands.

Very few got into BTC when it was damn cheap, and my assumption tells me that even fewer are still around. Some have paid for pizzas with the first ever cryptocurrency that ever existed on earth and paid thousands of them for two damn pizzas. We can't call that luck, or inspired behavior, but that's a topic for another story.

These days only large institutions such as PayPal, Square or Grayscale, and probably many others that we're not aware of, are buying BTC by the hundreds or thousands. It is no longer the currency of the people and the more it will appreciate in price the less accessible it will be. My personal finances will never allow me to be able to own hundreds or thousands of them, but there were times when I probably could have been able to purchase the quantities of large institutions nowadays.

During those times I was probably playing counter strike and getting drunk every other day and the only way I could see 1000 BTC into my wallet is for some bozo to send them by mistake. What chances there would be for me to wake up one morning with 1000 BTC in my wallet though? I even doubt I'll ever see one full BTC in the damn wallet the way price soars.

I do have a dilemma though, a psychology one, and that's called the 1000 bitcoin dilemma. If you would wake up having 1000 bitcoins in your wallet from an address that doesn't say anything to you, and definitely not expecting such amount to hit your portfolio, what would you do with those BTCs?

Thanks for attention,
Adrian

I wanted to buy bitcoin at a few dollars but I didn’t have a job or even a computer back then! If only I had just worked part time for a few weeks..... very glad to have come in at $5000 last year

I didn't even knew of BTC at that time.

Same here, just add drugs hahahaha

Don't do drugs and never a fan other than occasional weed.

sell some, invest some others in other cryptos and keep some!

all that while trying to run from the cartel that did this transaction by mistake and is now searching for me everywhere!

Not sending them back then...😀

Is there the assumption that we get to keep them or do we have to try and get them back to the owner? I am guessing the first thing to do would probably be to send them back just in case it was an error. If there was some kind of memo that said here you go then I would probably split the 1000 into three pools and start moving forward from there. 333 would go into alts like Hive and Leo etc. So I can set up some decent passive income streams as well as throwing out some huge upvotes to help others in the community. 333 would go into cold storage for some day much later in case BTC hits the 380k mark we hope it all does and the other 333 I would probably cash out to pay off bills and take care of debt. That last 333 wouldn't be needed for all of my bills so what is left of that I would put into traditional markets.

I hope you'll one day mysteriously receive 1000 BTC and also hope to be on your auto 100% upvotes 😁.

I know I'm selfish.

I think we are all a little selfish. Nothing to be ashamed of in that. Especially in these times when self care is all the rage!

i know I am...

Ha, ha, what a question! I am calm because I don't even have a bitcoin wallet, I am safe from such shocks that can cause a sudden death.
Seriously, as I was characterized earlier, I was online trying stupid programs that left me without my little money while I heard rumors about Bitcoin, it costs a few dollars ... I did not think it would have a future!

When I heard of BTC it was already over $3,000.

Oh, well above our possibilities...

Too be very true, most of these early user do not have that much Bitcoins. They give in faucets. (5 BTC faucets) or pizzas or tip others or the cases of lost hard disk. Satoshi have 1 million BTC and we have no idea what is the plan for them. For us it is currently awesome to see Hive, LEO + all other opportunities that are going to come in.

Not only LEO, I am expecting some more success stories to follow as LEO already shown a path.

LEO has paved the way.
