The phenomenon of knowledge hoarding can lead to digital burnout. As the author explains through their experiences in academia, the pressure of ever-increasing reading lists can overwhelm even the most diligent of students. With the constant need to cite and reference numerous sources, the inevitable accumulation of tabs and articles can become unmanageable.
Additionally, the dopamine rush of finding a new article can trick our brains into thinking we have achieved something significant. Still, this does not equate to genuine learning or understanding. Instead of building real knowledge, we risk merely placing more weight on our mental bandwidth.
