At this juncture, I believe it is essential to define what we mean by "country." While Harris suggests that countries are an invention—a modern phenomenon—this perspective seems to overlook the concept of a "sovereign state." Even if we acknowledge that nation-states have evolved from ideas formed in the 1800s, this does not negate the very real existence and influence these entities have on our lives currently.
Conversely, Harris’s assertion that nations are purely created constructs raises the question of their validity. The term "fake" is misleading; instead, these constructs have historical and cultural significance grounded in the experiences and identities of countless individuals.
