Part 2/9:
Piracy, especially in the realm of content sharing, is not a new phenomenon. Its roots can be traced back as far as 1771 when a young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart famously transcribed music that he was not authorized to possess. Fast forward to 1999, and the internet began to change the landscape of entertainment consumption with the introduction of Napster, a peer-to-peer file-sharing service that allowed users to exchange music freely. Despite its subsequent shutdown, Napster sparked a movement that would lead to the creation of BitTorrent, which enabled users to download not only music but also films and television shows.
