The initial step in my investment journey involved determining where I wanted to buy rental properties. Having grown up in New York City and spent considerable time there, it seemed like a logical option. However, the reality of New York's exorbitant property prices—usually starting around $500,000 to $1 million—proved to be a barrier for me. Furthermore, investment viability in major metropolitan areas often falters, as rents don't align with high property costs. Realizing that I needed a more feasible location, I began to explore areas outside major urban centers.
