In the First Age, various groups traversed this region. The most prominent were the Elves, who initially settled near the Sea of Rhun and later along the River Anduin. Following them were the Men, specifically the ancestors of the House of Bor and the House of Hador, who eventually occupied nearby areas that would later be known as Rohan.
As time progressed into the Second and Third Ages, the region became infamous for the movements of the Easterlings. These tribes consistently invaded Gondor and its allies through this land, highlighting its role as a strategic pathway.
