Conducted in the 1960s, the experiment placed a population of mice into a spacious environment where all their needs were met. As the population surged, social structures began to disintegrate. Mice exhibited behavioral changes—shifting gender roles, losing social bonds, and even attempted violent separatism. Ultimately, the population crashed to extinction.
