Part 6/9:

With an increase in global interest, kingdoms and empires throughout Europe began to develop their own coffee plantations. The Portuguese, for instance, sent an ambassador to acquire coffee cherries from France, which led to coffee production in Brazil. By the late 18th century, Brazil emerged as a key player in the global coffee market, much of it fueled by the slave trade.

The changing political landscape in the 18th and 19th centuries, including the French Revolution and Brazil's eventual independence in 1822, played significant roles in the expansion and evolution of coffee production. With Brazil focusing heavily on coffee cultivation as an economic strategy, the country quickly ascended to the title of the world's largest coffee producer, a position it maintains today.
