In Canada, while it may seem that majority wins are the norm, there are instances—especially in multi-party races—where candidates can win with significantly less than half of the popular vote. This is not as visible in the U.S. due to its predominantly two-party system; however, third-party candidates can still sway results, as evident in the 1992 presidential election when Bill Clinton won while lacking a majority, thanks in part to Ross Perot's third-party candidacy.
