Part 3/8:
To gain insight into the demands of the MdS, they meet Carl Saba, a seasoned ultra-runner from Belgium who has conquered numerous extreme races, including the MdS itself. Carl’s initial reaction to their ambitions warns them of the severe training regimen necessary to successfully complete the race. Most MdS runners train for years, and the duo's plan—a mere six months of preparation—raises eyebrows.
Despite their lack of recent training, Carl takes them through an assessment of their current fitness levels, which reveals an alarming three kilometers per week average. Arno admits to needing a wake-up call, and Carl promises to guide them through their training journey.
